SEAT co-brand CUPRA has unleashed its first all-electric car, the Born. Under the skin, the Born uses Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform (read Volkswagen ID.3), but that’s where the similarities and the differences start and end. Kicking things off with the styling, CUPRA has delivered a recipe for the perfect all-electric hot hatch. It’s angular at the front, with the surfaces looking sculpted in such a way that they pierce the air for better economy. At the side, it’s all user-friendly and accessible, with sporty nods coming in the form of a raked roofline, a contrasting side skirt, and a set of 20” alloy rims. As for the rear, CUPRA makes the Born seem more charming and softer, however yet again a sporting edge is encouraged with the “diffuser”-like bumper, angular rear lights, and the small spoiler. The Born will come with two power outputs: either 150 PS or 204 PS, with the latter offering an extra e-Boost function that will kick power up to 231 PS (which is around 227 BHP, and thus a considerable amount more than other electric “hot hatches” such as the MINI Cooper SE or the BMW i3S). CUPRA claims a 0-62 MPH time of just 6.6 seconds, and because it features high-tech lithium-ion batteries it’ll do up to 540km on a single charge, when paired with a 77kWh battery pack. With this pack, it’ll also offer 100 miles from just seven minutes of charge.

The Cupra Ateca is a practical SUV with the 300hp engine and four-wheel-system from the fiendishly quick SEAT Leon Cupra 300. As a result of this SEAT connection, you’re probably wondering ‘what’s happened to the SEAT badge?’ Well, it’s gone – Cupra is SEAT’s new performance sub-brand and the Cupra Ateca the first in a line of cars that will wear that badge. To help your mind separate Ateca from Cupra Ateca, the latter has been given the new badge plus the full treatment from the accessories catalogue. As a result, you get huge 19-inch alloy wheels, a body kit, a quad exhaust system and LED headlights. The result is a car with purposeful styling, although the unfamiliar badge makes it look like the creation of a tuning house rather than a mainstream car. Some will like that, others won’t. The changes inside are more subtle, but you get body-hugging sports seats (complete with questionable looking carbon fibre vinyl bolsters) some Cupra badges and more fake-looking carbon fibre trim on the dashboard. Sadly, it’s not enough to redress the gloomy, almost exclusively jet-black cabin plastics that make the interior feel a little too dowdy for a genuinely sporty car like this. https://www.cupraofficial.com/ Even the presenter in the video finds the CUPRA branding confusing So as some may know i am on the look out for an SUV type of car, you can also call it window shopping maybe will buy maybe not. Went to the Singapore Motorshow. Viewed the Venue and Seltos but left pretty much disappointed/underwhelmed/unimpressed (for a lack of better word) with the Venue. Too basic too funky. Maybe my taste will change in future but dunno. So now i'm back to square one. and then I found the CUPRA Ateca. but i understand it's not even launched yet. Did some searches on the forum and found info of the CUPRA inside the SEAT thread but it was somewhere in the middle and images all cant view. the CUPRA Ateca looks gd! i'm unfamiliar with the SEAT brand. been to the showroom once. but confused with the branding. is this a SEAT or not? saw some websites stating its a SEAT Ateca Cupra. confusing enough. opening this thread here for bros who are potentially looking for an SUV in the near future!

We test a car from a new marque! It's the Cupra Ateca
clarencegi75 posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Today we have something special lined up just for you guys. The Cupra Ateca is the first car from Seat's new performance division, now launched as a stand alone brand in its own right, to reach Singapore's shores. As you can see, Julian makes an interesting introduction to the Cupra brand at the start of the video. But what's really great about the Ateca is the fact that it is really spacious for a performance vehicle. Check out these shots... And look how small the car makes Julian look when he sits in the rear. Even your lankiest teenage children will not be hard pressed for space. And to drive? Once again, let me simply leave you with one simple image. If you're in the market for a spacious SUV that will still egg you on the take corners with good aggression, give the Cupra Ateca a try. Or watch the full video review here!- 3 comments

Scirocco kisses Leon's bumper despite having enough time to brake!?
chitchatboy posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
As seen on ROAD.sg, a red Volkswagen Scirocco has rear ended a SEAT Leon Cupra at the junction of the KJE exit to Woodland Road. The accident happened a while ago on 3rd of April but only started getting viral recently as the Scirocco owner shared the video on a private whatsapp group chat (We have no idea why he/she would do this). Thankfully, this is no serious accident despite the camera car obviously speeding along the KJE exit before filtering into Woodlands road. Sharp viewers of the video would also notice from the car's exhaust note that the accelerator was being pressed to overtake the bus at the 11-second mark. But then again, it did look like the Scirocco could stop in time but chose to not come to a complete stop while checking for vehicles on Woodlands road... Check out the video below. Is this a case of bad luck and/or bad judgement from Volkswagen driver who actually could stop in time or a case of speeding and reckless driving from both drivers? Let us know what you think in the comments below. vid.mp4- 4 comments

Hi guys, Felt the need to have this documented on the forum because its so hard to find information on the Cupra R parts list. Plus no one on the Internet seems to share the fitting experience even though its possible to find photos of Toledos overseas that have been fitted with the Cupra R bumper and sideskirts. So this is a first step. Here's the complete parts list and price (in Euro) without shipping. The next step for this thread hopefully will be to come with all the fitting photos step by step. Hi guys, Its been 4 years and I've learnt a lot from this project car. It has fantastic handling and constantly brings a smile to my face in any corner. It handles a lot better than my A4 now in every way (steering response, feedback, roll, precision, high speed stability, etc), but maybe the A4 will be better when its done. Its something that is very hard to part with and I know some people would be surprised at my decision, but unfortunately I can't support 2 project cars heh..heh... Even my wife doesn't want me to let go of the Tody... For now, my Tody is better than the A4 in handling, sound insulation, boot space, foldable rear seats. All it lacks is the 1.8T engine, otherwise its perfect for me. Well, its up for sale, preferably in whole as-is, unless there are no takers in the next 3 months, then I'll let go parts. For those who has wondered what mods I've done to the car, well, its all here: http://www.mycarforum.com/classifieds/classifieds.pl?id=2054 Of course, some of the project pics are in this forum, some burnt down in the old seatsg forum. But I still have them if anyone requests

SEAT's Shock New GT Racer EAT continues to be pushed as Spain's answer to Alfa Romeo and now it's going racing. This is the Cupra GT - a 500bhp-plus, carbonfibre-bodied racer that will be built to order from the later part of this year - and it made its debut at the Barcelona motor show. It's powered by the 2.7-litre twin-turbo V6 engine last seen in the Audi RS4, mid-mounted and driving the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox. Underneath the swoopy styling themes, which echo the Tango roadster concept and look set to be adopted by all future SEATs, there's a conventional steel tubular chassis. The Cupra GT weighs 1100kg and Seat claims it will accelerate from rest to 62mph (100kph) in 4.2 seconds. Top speed will be dependent on specific track gearing but 180mph is feasible. The huge rear wing and underbody venturi ducts are said to create significant downforce. And the rest of the spec backs up the menacing looks: double-wishbone suspension, 378mm AP Racing brakes, over 500bhp and 442lb ft. Initially the Cupra GT will compete in the Spanish GT series but customer cars will be available for teams contesting GT championships throughout the world from 2004. - Taken from www.evo.co.uk
