  1. Ok, don't forget to use this. https://www.mindef.gov.sg/news-and-events/latest-releases/30oct24_nr $200 in National Service (NS) LifeSG Credits to be Disbursed to 1.2 Million Past and Present National Servicemen As announced at Budget 2024, eligible past and present national servicemen will receive $200 in LifeSG credits to recognise their contributions to Singapore’s defence and security (see Annex for eligibility criteria). The LifeSG credits will be progressively disbursed to national servicemen by the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in November 2024, and all eligible national servicemen will automatically receive the credits via the LifeSG mobile app by 30 November 2024. They are not required to click on any links or provide personal details on any platform. Once the credits have been disbursed, an SMS will be sent from the gov.sg Sender ID to the national serviceman’s registered mobile number, and a notification letter will be sent to their registered address. The LifeSG credits are valid for one year from the date of disbursement. National servicemen may access the credits and check their validity period through the LifeSG mobile app, which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store at https://go.life.gov.sg/5yCp. The credits can be used at any online or physical merchants accepting payments via PayNow UEN QR or NETS QR. For a step-by-step guide on how to use the credits, please refer to https://www.wallet.gov.sg/how-to-use. For more information on the NS LifeSG Credits, please visit https://go.gov.sg/nslifesgcreditsb2024.
  2. I am selling my Merc purchased from C&C to another conti car. I have about 2000+ balance service credits which are not transferable to other Merc owners. So planning to use the balance credits to purchase items from Merc boutique in Alexandra and to sell the items to anyone interested at 30% discount off the usual boutique price. The discount is slightly negotiable and you can decide which items you would like. You can accompany me to the boutique. If anyone is keen, please pm me to arrange meet-up at the boutique. Thanks.
  3. how is he going to pay the fine? borrow from the sister?
  4. Please members, check your credit card(s) statement every month promptly. I received a credit card statement from UOB and was shocked that another credit card was issued to me last year of which I had not even seen it or the card being posted to me. I only had one UOB card of which is link to Metro where I always shop. The credit card numbers stated in the statement was not even my sub-card. The statement requires me to pay for an annual fee of $192.80c for a credit card which I had not seen it ... Called UOB to check on the status of that credit card on Tues @1145hrs and was told that a Customer Service Officer from the marketing department will contact me within 1/2 an hour with regards to my querries. Waited for 28hrs and nothing heard. Called yesterday at 1630hrs and another female officer answered my call. Asked her to explain how the credit card was issued to me when I had not signed any application form and who is holding to this credit card? She asked whether I received any calls with regards to any credit card and I informed that every month, received many calls from different banks with regards to credit cards and I always reject all calls. She informed that its was their marketing side who had issued the card. I asked her why was the card issued in the first place and even if it was through telephone, they always follow up with official form for customers to sign before any card is issued. I told her this should not be the way for marketing side to boost their sales. I even quoted to her that even now whilst I am talking to her, she asked me some personal questions to confirm I am the principal card owner and what had happen to that credit card which was issued as no one made any confirmation ? She didn't even know who is keeping that credit card. Lucky no sales transactions on that credit card but the big question is Where or Who is holding that credit card? She promised to cancel that card and ask me to ignore the payment for the annual fee. So members, beware especially those who pay by GIRO and failed to check your monthly statement. Once deducted, very troublesome and time consuming to cancel it. If this could be done at the marketing side, there are no assurance that the card would not been taken out for a shopping spee by someone and the poor principal owner had to pay if he does not check his credit card statement.
  5. if our democratic govt allow us to vote whether gst should be increase, would you want gst increase because the govt give gst credits in the form of $$ or would you vote against it?
  6. How much does it help Singaporeans? Let's paint a hypothetical scenario, which could happen, since we are a open economy with lots of foreign investors/employers. Let's say a guy is hired by a foreign company, his boss is in another country, which by the way also hires many other staff from all nationalities. Singapore government gives back 12% of $2500 = $300 per month for each Singaporean. This amount goes back to the books of the boss in another country (assume 500 Singaporeans staff) * $300 * 12 months= $$1.8Million. This $1.8million goes back to the overall company's books, and than nobody is the wiser, and the company can use this amount of money to send any staff from any country for training or even hire someone from a lower cost country, since there is no guidelines issued that the amount can only be used locally. Worst case scenario :- Money flowing back to the Singaporean $0, Money flowing within Singapore economy $0, Singapore reserves -S$1.8million. It would probably be administratively difficult to police that all money be spent in Singapore, but at least there must be measures/guidelines put in place to ensure that the bulk of the reserves spent gets channeled back into Singapore's economy. Key Budget Initiatives Taken from :- http://www.singaporebudget.gov.sg/key_initiatives/jobs.html JOBS FOR SINGAPOREANS (A) Jobs Credit To sustain jobs for Singaporeans, the Government will introduce a Jobs Credit which will encourage our businesses to preserve jobs in the downturn. This is a temporary scheme to help companies through an exceptional downturn. Details of the scheme are as follows: * Employers will receive a 12% cash grant on the first $2,500 of each month
  7. gahmen owes my wife and i $550 Might be an honest mistake, so I'll go call them up to check. Basically, we are supposed to get $1.3k combined in GST credit + growth dividend, but we only got $750. recently, we got a flyer in the mail which shows how growth dividend (GD) and GST credit (GC) are allocated. we realised that we are allocated according to our former residences. now, we bought a flat and got married last year. we moved in early sept, and my wife changed her address last year, before we moved to our 3-room flat. i being a lazy bugger, and due to special circumstances, cannot change anyhow at NPP. so i did it this year. if they didn't know that i moved, fair enuff. but they didn't register my wife's new address. how strange, considering that they sent BOTH our GC+GD letter to our current address. btw, we are all allocated GC+GD based on our "Annual value of home as at 31 Dec 2007", according to the official flyer. THis is a caution to all who downgraded to check that they have not been shortchanged. for upgraders, u probably didn't stand to profit. if you did, i'm sure they will claim it back from you in the coming months, so you have been warned
