Need a premium hatch with good driving dynamics? Chances are you would have bought a BMW 1 Series F20/F21 hatchback. But chances are you also wish it could have a prettier face. Fret not, German aftermarket specialist, Individual Cars Consulting GmbH & Co. KG, has come up with a conversion package that will allow you to swap the 1 Series’s face with the new 2 Series coupe’s face. Costing less than 3,000€ (S$5,222), only the headlights, the front apron including the kidney grille and some other smaller parts under the bonnet need to be replaced for the conversion. Check out their completed demo car which is actually a M135i 3-door hatchback. Even the basic model without the M Sport bumpers looks good!

Hi guys have been calling LTA but the customer service officer seem buay zhai one.. everything also need to check and get back.. so i am posting the question here to see if anyone has done this before, just to make sure, as I do not want to make a wasted trip to LTA just because they give me wrong info basically, mine is a normal car and i'm going to convert to OPC. My current road tax is expiring in April (hit 3 years in april) If i renew my OPC road tax now, it will be for one year starting in Feb but my car insurance is also expiring in Apr and my veh inspection is coming soon i guess.. coz in 3 years? so in order to convert to OPC, i must get ready and confirm a new motor insurance, specify a date, for e.g. 10th Feb 2010, and go to LTA to convert to OPC? Meaning my new road tax and car insurance will be valid from 10th Feb 10 and renew on this date every year? what about the 3 year upcoming motor inspection? so that means technically, if i drive for 10 years, my last car road tax and ins will end in Feb, but my deregistration will be in Apr??? Appreciate your inputs thanks

Hi Bros, Any one know how does it work? For eg, http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...938&DL=2080 pay $7k for conversion to normal plate. that means its about 35k for that rex. It also stated, take back 14k after COE expires. Any cons to such a deal? what do i lose? what do i gain? and lastly, any experience with this dealer? *8 motor trading Cheers.

Can someone tell me the difference between FD1 (1.8L) and FD2 (2.0L) and FD3 (Civic Hybrid) Seats ? I observed that the seat stitching design and headrest design for the FD2 is the same as FD3, and different compared to the FD1. But I was surprised to day when someone told me that FD2 seat has additional side airbags which the FD1 seat does not have. Does the FD3 seat also have side airbags ? What other differences are there amongst the seats of the 3 models ? Lastly, I am progressing through my FD1 conversion to FD2 (big regrets not buying FD2 in the first place). Can I get either a FD2 leather seat or FD3 leather seat to install ? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

The conversion cost like 1.4k and above, but I do not see many on the road, especially Honda Fit, Airwave or other rear drum cars.

Preferential Additional Registration Fee (PARF) The PARF rebate is computed based on the age of the car at de-registration . The age of the car is computed from the date of its registration in Singapore or its original registration in a foreign country, whichever is earlier. Imported used car registered in Singapore before 1 September 2007 is not eligible for PARF rebate. Breakdown of the PARF benefit for PARF-eligible cars is indicated in the table below: Age at Deregistration (year) PARF Rebate (A) (for cars registered with COEs obtained before May 2002 tender) PARF Rebate (B) (for cars registered with COEs obtained from May 2002 tender onwards) Not exceeding 5 130% of OMV 75% of ARF paid Above 5 but not exceeding 6 120% of OMV 70% of ARF paid Above 6 but not exceeding 7 110% of OMV 65% of ARF paid Above 7 but not exceeding 8 100% of OMV 60% of ARF paid Above 8 but not exceeding 9 90% of OMV 55% of ARF paid Above 9 but not exceeding 10 80% of OMV 50% of ARF paid Above 10 Nil Nil For cars registered with COEs obtained from March 2008 tender exercise and onwards, the Additional Registration Fee (ARF) is 100% of Open Market Value (OMV). For cars registered with COEs obtained from March 2004 to February 2008 tender exercises, the ARF is 110% of OMV. For cars registered with COEs obtained from May 2002 to February 2004, the ARF is 130% of OMV. For cars registered with COEs obtained before May 2002, the ARF is 140% of OMV. For imported used cars (only those registered in Singapore on or after 1 September 2007 will be eligible for PARF rebate), the $10,000 used car surcharge will not be taken into consideration in the computation of PARF rebate. If your car has been a weekend car or an off-peak car (OPC) since its registration, the PARF rebate is as stated above or based on what the owner had actually paid as Additional Registration Fee (ARF) at the time of its registration, whichever is lower. If your car is a converted off-peak car (OPC), additional PARF rebate may be given as follows: Lifespan as converted OPC (in months and days) X $2,200/12 LINK: http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onem...OE_Rebates.html QUESTION: does it mean i would have entitled to normal PARF (e.g. 50% of my ride's ARF) AND additional PARF rebate if i have converted my ride to OPC???

Kia unveils 2 new models! Aero Soul & i10 conversion range.
Retrochink posted a topic in Korean Talk
New Hyundai i10 conversion range released Aimed at budget conscious world and religious leaders Given the current economic downturn and a trend towards more eco-friendly vehicles, Hyundai sees this as the perfect time to expand this ever growing product lineup into the rapidly growing political and faith leadership transportation sector. In order to grab a firm stranglehold on this ever important market, the company has created a new conversion package for the stylish and frugal i10. Built by the Hyundai's skilled craftsmen, the new range of specially converted i10's feature a unique rear compartment that has a raised roof which enables VIPs to be driven around in comfort regardless if they prefer to sit or stand. Considering that some world leaders could potentially be blamed for failing to rectify the economy, Hyundai decided to outfit the new model with a special lightweight composite dubbed Armor Protected Roof Integrated Lining. With power being provided by a new 1.2-liter Kappa engine, fast getaways aren't exactly an i10 forte so in addition to the aforementioned APRIL body armor, the i10 also comes equipped with fully organic Weave Bean armor which is constructed of the "string" part of string beans. Weighing virtually nothing, the new armor is both stronger and lighter than traditional Kevlar. According to a confidential source at the company, the first i10 conversion will go to a German customer who currently resides in Italy. Although he failed to specifically name the client, he did inform us that the specific model being prepared for this lucky VIP will feature unique tapestry woven by monks from the Indian city of Utta Bullacs. As with all Hyundai's, the new i10 conversion comes with an extensive five year warranty that is fully transferable to new owners after general elections and military coups. Kia Aero Soul Kia Unveils Dramatic Wind-Assisted Aero-Soul How cool is this? Photos and details of the long-rumored Kia Aero-Soul concept have finally been revealed. The Korean automaker unveiled the wind-assisted version of the Soul, with sales to begin next month. The vehicle uses a low-cost system that can mount to any products in Kia's line-up. Available with new cars and retroactively, the Air Propulsion and Retardation Installation Line uses sensors to detect wind speed as the Soul is driving down the highway. Once wind speed is at a strong enough rate, panels built into the bumpers are deployed to harness the wind power to assist in speeding up the car. This system does not just work when the car is running at speed. When braking or decelerating the panels also pop out like drag chutes to help slow the car down. Also part of the system is a reverse thruster that drops down from behind the exhaust pipe to reduce the strain on the brakes. From her Mabuk, Korea, office, Kia green-technology engineer Avril Babo said, "The big problem with most emission reduction systems is that they are expensive. We wanted to come up with an answer that didn't cost the earth and could be retrospectively applied to cars already on the road." Testing in Nong Dam shows that fuel efficiency can be increased by 25%, with emissions reduced by as much as 40%. When using the system while on a severe downhill slope, fuel use and CO2 emissions drops to almost nothing. The system is even beneficial if you live in a calmer environment. Just using the system to help braking can reduce fuel use by 10%, decrease emissions by 15%, and extend brake-pad life by nearly 50%. The Kia Aero-Soul concept, with the Air Propulsion and Retardation Installation Line, or A.P.R.I.L., will be available shortly. Pricing will be revealed closer to the release date.
