Spin off from the earlier thread which was locked... Just wondering how you blokes out there perceive or define how a man's financial responsibilities are - in a marriage? There's no right or wrong, I guess largely, it also depends on a person's upbringing and family environment. I strongly believe that husband and wife should both contribute financially. Doesn't matter who contributes more, mostly the man, but its the core principle that a marriage is shared responsibilities and hence, in a world where women are increasingly independent and demands equality, I reckon this is fair practice. Marriage is a partnership, and with dual contribution, the potential to achieve greater things grows 2 fold. Of course, I know of many women who disagrees... So just wanna hear your views.

For those self-employed and who typically do not regularly voluntarily contribute to CPF, are you planning to do so before end Mar or 15 Apr 2012? I remembered last year my Dad (who is a taxi driver) voluntarily contribute to CPF in order to qualify for certain govt payouts such as WIS, Bonus etc. Is there stilll such govt pay-out schemes in 2012? thanks

Hi all, Just an assumption for an average Joe (Salaried man). What if today, you have an option to opt out from CPF? Do you think you will stand to loose more versus if you can bring home full sum of your salary each month? More cash may means you have to pay more income tax. Given such choice, do you prefer a company that pays you S$5000 in hard cash monthly or you prefer to stick to CPF scheme where you bring home less but only to withdraw the sum gradually when you get old? If you choose to get S$5000, do you think you will set aside some money for prudent investment (Unit trust), FD or investment linked insurance policies? Are our people matured enough to make providence for old age? Regards,

Just wondering if any one of you are doing that? Worthwhile? Perhaps you are self-employed, or also for family members who are not working. And can one specifically contribute to say Sp A or Med A only? Tax relief is only applicable for Sp A?

Just wondering what are you guys getting for your 13 month. Did your company deduct for your CPF contribution while also contributing their portion? This was what I was getting in the many years of work....... But in recent years, seems like I am paid my AWS in full w/o any deductions (while company also never contribute for the 13 month). What is the usual practise? I understand that AWS is optional and companies need not give this. But for those that do give, what were the practises you've encountered? Cheers.
