  1. hi bros in the house....me recently bought a SIR and thinking of installing a cone filter (K&N)....but seen the filter on the website....there are actualli 2 types..(correct me if i am wrong).....one is short ram type...the other is CAI type....any bros (pros) can tell me which one beta???...IMO....the CAI is quite long and may extend until need the bottom of my car....is tt true???...me worry abt rain water...or water from the road leh....but some say it is beta as draws cold air....as for the ram type...its short and will rest in the engine bay...(neber seen both in civics...so dunno whether my dimension correct or not).....but the bad part is the ram type suck in hot air from the engine and thus affecting low end power...but gd thing is no worries of water from road or rain....will a heat shield actualli help for the short ram type???....anyone seen or have a SIR with a CAI type installed???....will it actually be tt long and extend till the bumper????pros??? bros???...englightenment???
  2. Hi guys! Picked up this aftermarket air intake by Bomz racing for USD60 while in the US. Package included the filter. Have been running this for about a week. Fuel consumption increased a little from ~10km/l to 9km/l. Partly because of a lack of heat shielding and a little more "spirited" driving Removed the resonator while I was at it so now there's just an empty whole where it originally joined the airbox. Anyway, monitored the temperature yesterday and here are some figures: Highway driving at 80km/h: 37deg C Stops at traffic lights: 41 deg C Parked for 1 hour: 60 deg C Ambient temperature: 28-30 deg C (evening and morning time) Next step would be to add in some heatshiedling, insulate the intake pipe and add in ducting to channel cool air from under the bumper.
  3. some picture to share , similiar to K&N filter code with K&N oil on it and install inside the filter box . Feedback is it has more power FC wise depend on indivual . It has a vroom noise when you flaw your engine . cheers .
  4. Hi dear chevvvy owners As per subject, changed my air filter all thanks to Encik. I think everyone should change. Why? Because the pick up will definitely improve. It is my first Mod so very happy and satisfied with the results. Did not know can really feel so much difference. SOmemore the sound from the engine very shiok !!!! Looking into more mods for the future so my poor chevvy can go faster and faster.(Need for speed). Now i know why Yeoman like pass me so easily at Loyang some months back. My goal is to make my car beat or at least be on par with those JB Protons. Wa.. those JB protons fully moded cars are really damn FAST !!! Anyone want to organize friendly pick-up race so as to see the difference with our cars and trade some tips so as to improve the acceleration of our cars? Cheers JOE
  5. Hi Jhoo and St88, Here's a pic of the venturi cone that was fabicated at Jeep Chee. Its diameter is 2.5" that can be cleanly mated to a 2.5" CAI pipe. The outer cone diameter is 3.5". Of course if you run a different diameter pipe, a matching cone can be fabricated. You should think of how the cone can be properly secured. My idea is to drill a hole into the cone and have it bolted via a metal bracket to the car chassis. Alternatively, a simple cable tie may also be sufficient depending on the position in the engine area.
