hi all the ICE gurus out there - my brother's Wish HU is a Kenwood KDC-PS9016A. No power amplifier, just 2 stock speakers at front doors and 2 added Sony speakers at rear doors. Right now the sound in his car is sort of crappy (to me anyway). Will it make much difference in sound quality if he just replaces the front pair with component speakers? Without installing an amplifier. Coz he's not into ICE and not planning to spend too much or have too many things installed in his car. Thanks.

Hi Experts this may have crop up many time but i need some advice here. My current setup is a semi-passive 3 way speaker for the front and coaxial for the rear back speakers. I have an amplifier driving all of them togther with an 8 channel processor. Was wondering if upgrading the back speakers to component would have a significant difference to the surround sound, According to articles on the web it mentioned that you should not use component for the back as it may affect the sound stage and imagining of the sound as the back speakers are more like a filler or support for the front speakers. However i believe it is under the assumption that there is no dsp. Having a dsp should be able to solve that issue? Your thoughts guys, component or to stay as coaxial. Please healthy discussion please, I believe we are here to learn and share knowledge. Cheers

Hi everyone, As above, want to know how to qualify used component speaker is good condition to buy? I come across a demo speaker on sales, is pretty good high end speaker, feel like buying but I saw two small finger press on the cone, guess is demo speaker ppl hand like to touch touch. The price of the speaker is 500 plus, demo set sell at $400. Does it mean the speaker is gone case? The press is not deep in just like a mark on the cone. I wonder is this condition consider spoilt? Regards

Hi all I'm wondering if there is a set of components which can: 1) cover 50hz-20khz, ie decent low bass 2) high efficiency >90db/w 3) doesn't require amps to drive 4) sounds musical Assume for now, that there isn't a price limit. Is there such a set of components, or this just doesn't exist? Any recommendations that I can listen to before buying? I don't like to purchase what I haven't heard because music is very subjective.

Was previously advised by audio shops that it's better to just install component speakers at the front and the leave the rear ones stock, or change them to coaxials. Can anyone comment if this is better? Why not have front and rear component speakers?

Hi Guys, I am planning to change my Suzuki Swift stock HU and component speakers to : 1. Pioneer P3450 2. Helix E62C or B62 / German Maestro CS-6508IV. ( Price?) 3. Sound Proof my 2 front door.( How many layers? ) Any guru to advise? It would be good if you are able to indicate the shop name and price of the Helix component speaker through PM. Can't really get much info from Google for Helix E62C and B62C component speakers from owners. Your help is greatly appreciated.

CNA news report : Rail component comes off train track SINGAPORE: A small rail component measuring about 10 centimetres came off along the tracks near the Jurong East station, on Monday afternoon. The rail component will be replaced on Monday night after passenger service. A spokesman for SMRT said the incident took place at about 1.20pm. Train service was not affected. I'm toying with the idea of replacing my original composite video cable of my Wii console to component video to achieve 480p display. Has anyone done this ? Is it worth the change , meaning does it give better graphics resolution on a HD TV ?

Hi Bro, As above, I use HDMI cable for my DVD player, but as for the hubstation, is there a different in picture quality between a component and AV cable? According to wikipedia, the max resolution for the cables are: Composite (AV) - 728 x 576 Component -1920

Hi guys, Components speakers like Canton, Rainbow, MB Quart, etc....asking for a much cheaper price than most audio shops that does installation. The cheap price is because of profit margin or not a genuine products? Likewise for amps and headsets. Example Alpine CDA9884 $295 (SLT) vs $475 at installer shop . Any experiences?

Hi ! I have a pair of 4 inch component speakers installed in the front dashboard and when up the volume, only hear the sound from the tweeters but no sound coming out from the mid bass speaker. Using the balance control to check, both side still no sound, but the tweeters ok. Was wondering if any bros could provide some advice on the likely cause of no sound. Thanks -
Hi bros... paiseh to disturb all yer experts... I am thinking of changing my Lancer's stock Front speakers to component speakers... currently narrowed down to 3 brands... budget is around 350-400... any comments would be most welcome... Thanks. The 3 speakers are 1) PHD - dunno wat model yet..but the one around $350 2) Helix Dark Blue 62 also around $350 3) MBQuart Discus 216 - haven't find good price but AutoBXXs selling at $406 Thanks for all yer feedbacks. Or do you have any other recommendations for good component speakers around this price range (350-400).. feel free to write down. Thanks!

any feedback about this speaker? find tat it looks cool... thinkin of gettin it or my coming new ride, FD1. any currently i'm using 5.5 inche component for my ride, FD1 is 6.5 inches opening, any idea whether can the 5.5 fit nicely into FD1?

like the spider cover for the speaker, anyway also seekin a pair of 6.5 inches component for FD1, simple setup, today just went to dismantly all my ice from my old ride and shall be installing them into my fd1 once collected next wk. transfering my 5.5 canton component to the rear, thus seekin a front pair of 6.5 component. saw LS.60C6.5

Hi, ICE newbie need advice: considering audison LRX4.5 ( RMS 70wx4) and rainbow CMX 265 component ( 150W ) for my active setup, one of my friend told me the LRX4.5 is not powerful enough to drive CMX265, LRX4.1K ( 130wx4 RMS)is just nice, but it is more expensive, any comments on this? thanks

my existing component also bye bye liao, cos the left side producing piak piak sound when its playing. i got no much knowledge to ice, dun even know the size of my comp speakers, haha. last time jus pay to get them install. so now wanna buy new pair also dunno wats the dimension. any bros care to share the standard available size in the market? i remember the installer last time told mi mine is a 5 inches comp speaker. but i dunno whether i remember correctly or not. cos most of the comp speakers i saw in the net or mag are like 6.5 inches. lookin for a budget pair or average pair of component speakers, cannot tahan the piak paik sound wheneven i playin song. damn frustrating. my existing pair is rodek. any bros here got any recomendations n the pricing? thks.

component speakers we buy are 4 ohm combined right, but in running active, each piece (tweet, bass) is actually 2 ohm? so need 2 ohm stable amps to run?
