  1. Edmunds.com, an American online resource for automotive information, pitted the fresh-from-the oven 2013 Lexus IS250 against the Cadillac ATS 2.0 and the compact luxury segment leader, the BMW 328i. The IS250 is powered by a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre V6 which is good for 204bhp. The 328i and ATS are both propelled by their respective 2.0-litre direct-injected, turbocharged four cylinder which produces 240bhp and 272bhp respectively. This is the third generation of the Lexus IS. However, will it be third time lucky against the BMW 3 Series?
  2. In the recent episode of Autocar UK, reviewer Steve Sutcliffe pits the brand new Renault Clio RS 200 EDC against the Toyota GT 86. The Toyota GT 86 is described by Top Gear as one of the best driving sports cars of the last decade. How will it fare against the French turbocharged hot hatch tuned by Renault Sport? Revealed at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the fourth generation Clio RS is powered by a 1.6-litre DIG TURBO engine lifted from the Nissan Juke and develops 200bhp with 240Nm of torque. It ditches the manual transmission in favor of the EDC (Efficient Double Clutch) dual-clutch transmission developed by Renault Sport engineers. The Century sprint is completed in 6.7 seconds. On the other corner, we have the rear-wheel drive Toyota GT 86 fitted with the world's first direct-injected, 2.0-litre Boxer engine. The 200bhp, 205Nm coupe sprints from 0 to 100km/h in 7.6 seconds when mated with a manual transmission. Read on to find out which model will come out on top!
  3. Recently, British magazine Auto Express pit the Audi R8 against the new Porsche 911 on a race track. These two supercars are actually distant relatives considering that both brands are under the Volkswagen Group's umbrella. The Audi R8 received a facelift in 2012 with the addition of a seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission that replaces the six-speed automated manual R-tronic. At the other corner, the all new Porsche 911 has a rich heritage that dates back to 1963 and has been acclaimed as one of the world's benchmark sports cars. The Porsche 911 Carrera 4S is propelled by a flat-six, 3.8-litre engine with an output of 394bhp. In the 4S, power is distributed to all four wheels via a PDK dual clutch transmission. On the other hand, the R8 in this comparison test is motivated by a free-breathing 4.2-litre V8 with 424bhp. Like the 911, the R8 has an all-wheel drive setup. Whoever wins this group test, Volkswagen wins.
  4. Autocar's Editor, Steve Sutcliffe, recently pitted the Nissan GT-R Track Pack against the Audi A1 Quattro in a portion of the MIRA test track which is located in the former RAF Lindley airfield. The A1 Quattro is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 253bhp. On the other hand, the GT-R is propelled by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 with over 500bhp. So, with nearly two times the capacity and power, the German supermini seemed destined to be devoured by the Japanese monster. However, Sutcliffe's verdict was that the GT-R was all over the place as it was too heavy and could not put its excessive power down on the road while the A1 Quattro was much more composed. The GT-R recorded a lap time of 1:19.32 while the A1 complete the same route in a more convincing 1:14.80. However, GT-R fans may argue that the car's electronic stability control and traction control could be turned off during the test, resulting in its lacklustre performance.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nr3YrHMuLgw In the above episode of Head 2 Head, Carlos Lago pits the brand new 2012 BMW 335i against its Germain rival, the Audi S4. Both models have somewhat similar credentials. They have a capacity of 3.0-litre with 6 cylinders and benefit from some form of forced induction and direct injection. Both engines are mated to a six-speed manual gearbox although automatic option is available. The inline 6-cylinder turbocharged unit in the BMW 335i generates an output of 306bhp and 400Nm of torque. On the other hand, the supercharged bent six in the Audi S4 produces an even more impressive 333bhp and 440NM of twist. So, has the ultimate sports sedan, the 335i, finally met its marker in the S4 ? Read on to find out !
