Kudos to our Special Operation Command for stopping this cyclist!
chitchatboy posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Our Circuit Breaker measures sure bring up quite a few weird incidents. I mean why would you even cycle in an expressway tunnel? As seen on ROAD.sg's website, it did seemed like someone cycled along our Marina Coastal Expressway on the 9th of April and was stopped by a Special Operation Command Police vehicle. As uncommon as it is to see a cyclist on an expressway, it is even rarer to see someone from the SOC stop a traffic offender as it is not part of their job scope. Kudos to the fellas for going the extra mile! Even netizens on the facebook page were also grateful to police force! videoplayback.mp4 -
A STOMPer claims her car was hit by a Police Special Operations Command (SOC) vehicle along North Canal Road. Instead of stopping to assess the damage however, the vehicle simply drove off after the accident. The SOC are an elite tactical unit of the Singapore Police Force, specializing in a range of operations in crisis situations. In an email today (Apr 20) the STOMPer wrote: "My 6-month-old car was hit by a Police Special Operations Command (SOC) vehicle last Friday (April 16) at 7.10 pm on North Canal Road. "The SOC vehicle travelling on lane to my right. It came from behind and hit my right mirror, smashing it and another glass pane near it. "It then sped off without stopping. "I reported the accident to the Orchard Neighbourhood Police Centre on Apr 16 at 7.30 pm. I was informed that there were two SOC vehicles (YM3894C and YM3978U) travelling on North Canal Road at the time of the accident. "I was given the Traffic Police telephone numbers to follow up on the matter. "Three days later I called them up and was referred from one department to another. Finally, after several rounds of this, I managed to speak to the officer-in-charge of my case. However, I was told that he had not received the report from SOC. "As citizens we are required to file police reports immediately after accidents. I cannot understand therefore why the SOC have not filed their report after so many days! "Please see the attached files on my broken mirror which even has the red paint of the SOC vehicle on it." Police has contacted STOMP to confirm that it is investigating a non-injury accident between a Police Special Operations Command vehicle and a private vehicle which happened along North Canal Road on April 16. Police said in its reply: "In response to media queries, Police confirm that we are investigating into a non-injury accident between a Police Special Operations Command (SOC) vehicle and a private vehicle which occurred along North Canal Road on 16 Apr 2010. "We would like to assure the STOMPer that the Police are taking the matter seriously and investigations are already in progress "Police have been in contact with the STOMPer" BETTER CONTACT MP LO AND CC TO PM'S OFFICE, COMMISSIONER OF POLICE HEAD TP.

Something which I asked C&C last year - can I have this feature, and they said it'll be a customised job. Now they're offering it free with the E Class... sigh. Oh well, now to check if they have an upgrade offer for existing owners. Main attraction is the ability to play DVD MP3! Imagine the number of songs!
