As part of a cruise ship stop in June 2014, we were in Reykjavik, Iceland for a day. We decided to rent a car and self-drive the Golden Circle route. Although we didn't have too much time, we managed to see Thingvellir (briefly), Gullfoss Waterfalls (the highlight!) and Geysir/Strokkur. From a car point of view, a nice surprise was that the car company gave us a Volvo XC90 to drive! Cool stuff. Prior to this, I had never driven a Volvo before, let alone their flagship SUV. Back home, I drive a Corolla, so obviously this was going to be fun! As expected, the car performed very well. It was quite new, about 35,000km on the odometer. It was a diesel! How would I describe the car? It was an automatic transmission. The engine was definitely very responsive and I could overtake very easily. The car felt very stable. In terms of drive, it was smooth and comfortable, unlike say the Honda (or subsequently the BMW which I would get to drive later this trip). I am not the 'must-feel-the-road' type of person so I like the Volvo feel over the BMW feel. This gas station service staff are simply crap. I was there and wanna alight to get something from the convenient store but was trap behind a queue of car waiting to do wash. I didn't see them cos there was a van blocking so LL stuck there. I see they had cones in between the pumps and gesture to the pump attendant to help shift it so I can drive thru and get out and not be trap behind the queue. The attendant signal cannot so I wind down window to ask nicely and he snapped at me. I was like WTF. Move a cone doesn't kill u so why the fock u snap at me. So I alighted and go ask the foking pump manager why can't they help so he said ok. I ask that foker attendant why he needed to shout at me saying cannot then in front of the manager he diam diam. WTF. I wanna spend money in their store and kena a scolding for a small matter that they can help. If cannot shift then just tell me nicely la. I din know what kind of service training Caltex provides but pls look into this. One experience enough to leave an impression that all service staff from Caltex are the same. I drove away to the next pump and bought my stuff and was greet nicely by that station staff. Kudos to that pump just down from that Caltex.

Title : Track fault causes delay on East-West Line By : Date : 08 January 2012 1304 hrs (SST) URL : http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1175448/1/.html SINGAPORE: Train services on the Circle Line between Marymount and Botanic Gardens were disrupted Sunday afternoon due to a signalling fault. SMRT said on its Twitter site at about 3.00 pm that service was back to normal. A commuter told Channel NewsAsia that he was at Serangoon station when he heard an announcement that there would be "no train service" between Marymount and Farrer Road stations. He said he understands that commuters had to get off at Marymount station because the train could not proceed to Farrer Road station. He said commuters were advised to find alternative transport. Separately, train services on the East-West Line between Boon Lay and Joo Koon were also delayed Sunday afternoon due to a track fault. At about 2.00 pm, SMRT said the track fault had cleared and services on all lines were operating normally but urged commuters to allow extra time for travel due to wet tracks. SMRT told Channel NewsAsia that the problem started at about 12.30 pm on Sunday. At about 1.00 pm, SMRT said east-bound and west-bound services between Boon Lay and Joo Koon were slightly delayed due to a track fault. Some commuters were asked to alight from one of the trains at Lakeside station as a precaution. Commuters had to wait an extra two minutes for the trains. Callers to the Channel NewsAsia reported similar delays. One commuter, Stanley, said he was at City Hall station when he heard the announcement at about 12.40 pm of a delay in service. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1175448/1/.html

http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/...ry_722693.html 'We sold our car because we think we can get around by public transport conveniently now.' MR JEFFREY TAN: 'My wife and I tried out the Circle Line on Monday. We started from Punggol station on the North-East Line and alighted at Serangoon station, where we switched to the Circle Line towards HarbourFront. The ride was smooth and swift despite the many stops. At HarbourFront, we continued on the line reaching Dhoby Ghaut in an hour. It was convenient because the Botanic Gardens, Holland Village and Labrador Park, which were remote previously, are now within reach via public transport. And yes, we sold our car because we think we can get around by public transport conveniently now.'

A terrible accident just happened at the junction of Tuas Rd and Gul Circle, right infront of Tuas SPC involving 2 trailers. Civil defense is still at the site trying to pull the driver out from one of the trailers. Please avoid this junction. probably will take a few hours more to clear the trailer and the 2 gigantic concrete slabs from from the road.

what does this wiring do? does it really helps?

Recently saw a car in my neighbourhood with the same reflective strip (in red instead of yellow) newly done on all four rims that didn't exist before. Does anyone know where I can get this done? I noticed it's quite commonly done riders.

We pay for their mistakes again ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin.../349771/1/.html SINGAPORE: A section of the road above a Circle Line construction site near Holland Road caved in on Saturday morning, creating a massive hole. No one was injured. The hole, directly in front of two private houses along Cornwall Gardens Road, measured 8 by 7 metres and is 3 metres deep. According to the Land Transport Authority, tunnelling work about 25 metres under the road was in progress when it caved in. The tunnelling work is part of the last few stages of the Circle Line construction in the area, between Holland and Farrer Road Station. One family, whose house is right in front of the cave-in, said they noticed a huge crack about 8.30pm Friday before that section of the road collapsed at about 5am the next day. "This morning (when) I woke up....my little brother and I went out to look and there was a huge hole in the road about 20 feet long and maybe 10 feet wide and it is filled with water," said 14-year-old Eliot Sperling. Eliot and his brother Owen said that after the incident, their water supply and Internet connection was cut off. Three other households in the area also lost their access to cable TV and Internet as the cables were severed after the accident. 938LIVE understands it may take weeks before the cable wires can be restored. LTA has offered one of the affected families transport and temporary hotel accommodation to minimise further inconvenience. This is not the first time roads have caved in near tunnelling works of the Circle Line. Last year, the Building and Construction Authority issued a stop-work order for the Telok Blangah site after a stretch of the road, about 7 metres long, sank 20 centimetres. - 938LIVE.

Hi bros, I got into an accident last night at the above mentioned location and timing. Initially, the other driver (a P plate) admitted it is her fault and keep saying sorry, and now, after consulting with her dad and insurance company (NTUC), now it seems like she might have other "ideas". I know it is a shot in the dark, but anyone out there witness this accident? Mine is a 07 Honda Civic and she's in a white toyota Corolla. I saw some witness standing around and many cars drove pass, but forgot to stop someone for details. Details It happened at Newton circle when I was at the most outer lane continuing in my lane and she was on the inner lane on my right, suddenly turning left and hit my right doors. Initially I though it is straight forward case until the assessors told me my case is 50-50 because although she hit me on the side, she can turn around claim that I turn in front of her, especially when she seems to be denying fault now. Nevetherless, I managed to draft out the accident reporting form and draw the accident diagram, ticked the boxes saying she is changing lane and turning left. And I made her signed it. However the assessors think this is still 50-50. What I screwed up is that I should have made her write down in black and white saying she changed lane and hit me. sighz. Need help and maybe advise. Anyone?
