  1. Hi guys, like to consult MCF brothers and sisters who might have been in a similar situation before. Was caught for a traffic offence for failing to conform to "NO Entry sign " except for lorry at sentosa gateway. I know that i had did that because i think there are no u-turn sign at that road.....and if i proceed straight on ....i had to pay the entrance fees for entering sentosa , but recenty i went over to sentosa for some job purpose and realise that there are one over the "No Entry Sign" but the U-turn sign was partially covered by the shrubs and leaves.....any chances for me to appeal?? Thanks alot for any comments ! Anyway juz copy some info from the TP website....to share. 2. from Yahoo: 'Leftover women' in China face tough choices in looking for love SHANGHAI (Reuters) - Xu Jiajie has gone on countless blind dates and to numerous match-making events over the past five years in search of a husband. At 31, the baby-faced office worker from Shanghai is under enormous pressure from family and friends to get married. But the right man is hard to find, she says, a big issue for urban, educated and well-paid Chinese women in a society where the husband's social status is traditionally above the wife's. "My parents have introduced every bachelor they know," said Xu, who earns double the average wage in Shanghai. "Half of the bachelors I met are quiet and never go out. Outgoing men don't need blind dates." As couples celebrate the "Qixi" festival on Tuesday, the Chinese equivalent of Valentine's Day, Xu and millions of women like her face stark choices as long-held ideas about matrimonial hierarchy run up against economic and social changes sweeping the world's most populous country. The term "shengnu" - directly translated as "leftover women" - was coined to refer to professional women who have not married by their late 20s. "Chinese people often think males should be higher in a relationship in every sense, including height, age, education and salary," Ni Lin, who hosts a popular match-making television show in Shanghai, told Reuters. "This leads to a phenomenon in which A-grade men marry B-grade women, B-grade men marry C-grade women and C-grade men marry D-grade women. Only A-grade women and D-grade men can't find partners." link: http://sg.news.yahoo.com/leftover-women-ch...-054109510.html I had seen their Match-Making shows, some are very pretty chio bu and is just that the competitions for men is very high in China...
  3. Long story cut short Bought a second hand ride a few weeks ago from creative auto. Deal and price was reasonable , so proceed for checks and inspection. Car is both inspected in STA and Agent In both reports car condition is satisfactory Went for regular servicing , workshop found out a leak in fuel tank causing a strong petrol smell. Quoted 2.7k to replace the whole fuel tank. Informed dealer about this issue , dealer giving bo chup attitude quoting my driving style damaged the fuel tank and saying he has both STA and agent's report to support his claims of saying vehicle was in good condition upon delivery Went down to case , they recommend to bring this case to small claims tribunal Question is Is there any chance to win this case if I bring it up to small claims tribunal? Is this covered under the lemon law?

  5. Traffic was quite heavy and every one was driving quite slowly. A gap opened up on the lane to my right, when the car in front went ahead but the vehicle behind (lorry) was still quite a distance away. I tried to filter into the right lane. But when that lorry horned, I stopped my car just about at the lane markings separating my lane and its lane. I was pissed that it insisted on speeding up when it is still a distance away, but decided to stop and let it pass anyway. After I stopped my car, that lorry only came up beside me after about 5 -6 seconds. It has slowed down but came up so close to the right side of my car. I don't know why it could not drive more to its right but it insisted on driving so close to my car. As it slowly drove past my stationery car, it swiped my right side mirror and right panel in slow motion! What I cannot understand is (1) why it cannot drive more to its right? (2) if it cannot or dunno how to move, why not stop for me to move first? Now, even after I stop the car for it to move first, it hit my car! I put in a claim against the lorry's insurance company. What do you think are my chances of claiming?

  7. ESPN news : Reports: Hulk to join Chelsea Chelsea will acquire Brazilian international striker Hulk from Porto for a 38-million-pound transfer fee, or more than $58.5 million, according to reports in British newspapers The Guardian and The Mirror. According to reports, both sides have agreed to the transfer, with only the club directors' signatures still required to complete the deal, which is still subject to a medical exam. Hulk, 25, has 57 goals in 91 games over the past two seasons and has played with the Brazilian national team during exhibitions this week. He scored twice against Denmark on Saturday. On Monday, 21-year-old Belgian attacking midfielder Eden Hazard revealed he would leave French side Lille to join Chelsea, though neither club officially has confirmed the transfer, reported to be worth 32 million pounds, or more than $49 million. After winning the Champions League last season, Chelsea lost striker Didier Drogba and will release forward Salomon Kalou and defender
  8. Kanna this -see attached My appeal - On the above date, I had completed visiting close friends for the Chinese New Year with my wife and was on the way back to home when I really have to stop at the coffee shop to relieve myself. Thus I told my wife to remain with the car as she is also very tired and did not want to alight. Shortly after stepping out of the toilet, my wife called me to say that this officer insisted on issuing me the notice. I then run to my car and told the officer that why he wanted to do that despite my wife was IN the car. My wife told me that she lowered down the seat to take a wink but non officer alerted her to drive off (my wife had no driving license too), a passerby tapped on the window to tell her
  9. Was involved in an accident with an NTUC cab this morning at Jln Toa Payoh towards Jurong. I was on innermost lane and he was in the middle lane - both wanted to turn into Jln Datoh and Balestier Rd. The p r i c k tried to force his way in and hit my car at a point between rear door and rear right fender. Damage to his taxi was at the front left fender. I made the report to IDAC and was told that claiming against taxi was very difficult. What should I do?
  10. Remember, i said i ran out of fuel in the middle of Lentor Avenue? The LTA warden who took down the details of the car plate and my friends' has now sent me a letter saying i got 3 demerit points for cisco for failing to put a breakdown sign and double yellow line charge. The email i wrote is this. Firstly, it was a rented car, now most cars i rented dont even have a breakdown sign in their boot for god knows why. Second, its my first time experiencing this. Next, the fuel gauge for the car i rented is also screwed, sometimes it jumps up from the red area to 2 bars and sometimes it stays there. The low fuel light doesnt even come on. So guys, any chances of having the offence waived?
  11. There was a discussion here about why there are many more relatively new 2nd car up for grabs...and the view that COE prices might fall further recently. But from the looks of it.... things are just starting to 'heat up' even more after the last thread on the above topic...with fuel prices increasing almost every other month and our neighbouring country up North jacking up their prices too! So till the end of this year.....are there going to be less buyers of new cars?.... or are the Sillies here still ploughing head on and keep buying cars despite the ever increasing cost of using a car and coupled with the increase in the cost of living too!
  12. http://www.asianpacificpost.com/portal2/c1...ne_Dion.do.html Singapore too cheap for Celine Dion Fri, April 11 2008 Canadian songbird Celine Dion, who after five years performing in Las Vegas is embarking on a world tour to promote her latest album, is giving Singapore a miss to perform instead in Kuala Lumpur on April 13. The Malaysian capital is her sole South-east Asian stop in a tour that includes South Africa, Japan, China and Britain. The Grammy-winning singer's latest release may be entitled Taking Chances, but Dion's taking none on Singapore promoters. According to AsiaOne News, not a single Singaporean promoter could cough up enough coin to attract the aging diva. Rob Prinz, Dion's long-time agent at United Talent Agency, said: "We wanted to come to Singapore but never received a realistic offer from a reliable promoter during our planning stage of the tour." In Singapore, Taking Chances has gone gold, with over 8,000 copies sold since its release last November. Her most popular album, Falling Into You (1996), which won the Montrealer an Album Of The Year Grammy in 1997, has sold over 100,000 copies in the island nation. Dion, who has had such hits as My Heart Will Go On and Because You Loved Me, recently ended her five-year engagement in Vegas, where she performed almost nightly at Caesars Palace. That show generated more than $400 million, and mixed reviews.

  15. Hi guys, I really need some help with my ride. Recently when I drive at bout 20-40kph, sometimes there is a "Krrrrr" sound from the engine bay area. Sometimes there isnt any sound at all the whole day. Went to my usual garage, I changed bearings, reconditioned my drive shaft, cleaned throttle body. But the sound persists, though the volume of the sound is smaller. The mechanics say the only place left that could be faulty is the gearbox. Because the sound comes when the car is in motion. My car is 3yrs+ by the way. Anyone have any advice for me ? Spent quite abit already. Mechanics told me to wait and use the car for afew days more, saying the drive shaft need to be "seasoned". If problem persists, time to open up the gearbox, which is bout 5-600 bucks.
