After the Corolla Cross and new Crown, another iconic Toyota model has been SUV-nised... I seriously hope the trend will stop soon. @Toeknee_33what's your thought? Toyota announced the debut of an all-new model on September 6, which will be streamed live on YouTube from Tokyo, Japan. The automaker didn’t name the model but the official teaser photos showing portions of the front and rear suggest it will be the already-confirmed Century-branded SUV. Stay tuned for more updates. 🙂

http://www.industrytap.com/thorium-fueled-automobile-engine-needs-refueling-once-a-century/ Thorium Concept Car - Image Courtesy www.greenpacks.com There are now over one billion cars traveling roads around the world directly and indirectly costing trillions of dollars in material resources, time and noxious emissions. Imagine all these cars running cleanly for 100 years on just 8 grams of fuel each. Laser Power Systems (LPS) from Connecticut, USA, is developing a new method of automotive propulsion with one of the most dense materials known in nature: thorium. Because thorium is so dense it has the potential to produce tremendous amounts of heat. The company has been experimenting with small bits of thorium, creating a laser that heats water, produces steam and powers a mini turbine. Cadillac World Thorium Fuel Concept (Image Courtesy www.cutedesign.com) Current models of the engine weigh 500 pounds, easily fitting into the engine area of a conventionally-designed vehicle. According to CEO Charles Stevens, just one gram of the substance yields more energy than 7,396 gallons (28,000 L) of gasoline and 8 grams would power the typical car for a century. The idea of using thorium is not new. In 2009, Loren Kulesus designed the Cadillac World Thorium Fuel Concept Car. LPS is developing the technology so it can be mass-produced. Wider Implications of ThoriumAccording to Robert Hargraves, “low or non-CO2 emitting energy sources must be cheaper than coal or will ultimately fail to displace fossil fuels.” The United States uses 20% of the world’s energy today and, according to Hargraves, if it cut its CO2 emissions to zero, 80% produced by other countries would still be a problem. With CO2 emissions climbing seemingly beyond all bounds, pessimism is rampant and bold ideas are needed. Thorium may also be the answer to the world’s nuclear energy conundrum and Wikipedia provides some of its advantages: Weapons-grade fissionable material (233U) is harder to retrieve safely and clandestinely from a thorium reactor; this means, for example, Iran could be asked to develop only a thorium based reactor, virtually eliminating the issue of nuclear weapon development. Thorium produces 10 to 10,000 times less long-lived radioactive waste; Thorium mining produces a single pure isotope, whereas the mixture of natural uranium isotopes must be enriched to function in most common reactor designs. The same cycle could also use the fissionable U-238 component of the natural uranium, and also contained in the depleted reactor fuel; Thorium cannot sustain a nuclear chain reaction without priming,[29] so fission stops by default in an accelerator driven reactor. Hargraves sees factories and other industrial concerns using thorium as well. Stay tuned as we track this idea and its development.

dear all , Just to remind & warn all forumers about my inccident . On 15 sept at 1455 hrs I parked my car in Century Square carpark which is offer per minute charge and after 1501 hrs will be charge at SGD 2.10 flat rate on weekend and PH . It was very shock to me when I driving off at 2055 hrs as my parking fee amounted at SGD 17.00+ !!!! After I clarify with Metro Parking ( Mall Tenant ) the SGD 2.10 flat rate only apply for those drive in after 1501 hrs and before 1501 hrs will charge all the way at per minute basic ????? This very misleading for us and feel that they try to play monkey game !! The Metro carpark staff even can tell me that how come I never read the terms & conditions displayed at barrier ?? How can expect us to stop and wide down the window to read every single word before enter to carpark ??

Dear Bros, This is an appeal to everyone who reads this thread. I live in bedok and grow up eating this couple (in their late 50s)'s burgers and fries. then all of a sudden, they shifted out. I heard rumors that they've relocated to Jurong. I'm not sure if its still called Century Fried Chicken. but the uncle got a distinct moustache. both are quite short. Pls kindly let me know as i've special sentimental value to their food.

Chevy back after half a century Don't expect models like Corvette yet, but look out for the Chevy Optra, styled by the Italian design house known for its Ferraris By Christopher Tan Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee But the levee was dry... THAT seminal line from Don McLean's evergreen will have a new ring for motorists here when the brand that is as American as apple pie makes a comeback this week - after an absence of nearly five decades. Advertisement http://ads.asia1.com.sg/image.ng/Params.richmedia=yes&site=tsti&size=300X250 General Motors, which owns the Chevrolet among several other brands, will relaunch it on Thursday after nearly a year of preparation. But Singaporeans old enough to remember classic Chevys like the Impala and Camaro, or younger petrol heads yearning a ride in the Corvette, might be disappointed. Models like those won't be coming here any time soon. Most of the Chevys due here are rebadged models from Daewoo, which GM took over last year. This doesn't mean car buyers won't have anything new to look forward to. Chevy agent Starsauto, which sold Daewoo previously, will offer the Chevy Optra, a 1.6-litre sedan styled by Pininfarina, the Italian design house best known for its Ferraris. The Optra is called Daewoo Lacetti elsewhere. Asked why GM was replacing Daewoo with Chevrolet, its regional corporate communications manager Karen Goh said: 'Chevrolet is GM's largest brand, with over 3.6 million units sold last year. Chevrolet products are mainstream and GM's strategy is to make it the mainstream brand in the Asia Pacific.' In the Asia Pacific, the marque is used in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, Japan and China. Veteran motoring columnist Winston Lee said: 'It's an astute marketing move. Chevrolet is a much more established brand; and it has more cachet than Daewoo.' Besides the Optra, there will be the Chevrolet Aveo hatchback (Daewoo Kalos), and Chevrolet Vivant recreational vehicle (Daewoo Tacuma). Ms Goh said GM will also showcase two high-end models: the Chevrolet Lumina, a 3.8-litre V6 sedan made by GM's Holden plant in Australia, which also has a 5.7-litre V8 coupe version. These will be made available later if there is 'sufficient demand'. None of the Chevys bound for Singapore will be made in America. Instead, they will be assembled in South Korea and Thailand. The Optra, for instance, will be made in GM's Rayong plant in Thailand. The plant also rolls out the Alfa Romeo 156 and Opel Zafira. Ms Goh said Starsauto, part of listed Wearnes International, will 'continue to provide after-sales service and support to Daewoo owners'. The Korean brand will continue to be sold in some markets.
