Hi bros, as you know, when car gets older and cat becomes dirty, the exhaust flow also less efficient and results in lower power and higher fuel consumption. What do you guys do then, short of buying a newer car or changing to a new LEGAL cat?

Hi all Newbie here, Pardon my boldness since im asking for help already. my Chevrolet aveo 1.4A ls 2009 engine light came on. Did a diagnose via Torque app and found out error code P0420. Web look up and found that refer to (Catalyst system below efficiency). Seem like my catalyst converter go kaput or my oxygen sensor. Anyone face this issue before care to share what to look out for? As I don't change the wrong things or kena chop carrot.. Thank you in advance. Cheers

Hi all, I'm driving a 07 avante. Just yesterday my engine light came on and I sent down to Komoco to see what's wrong. It was diagnosed to be a catalytic converter issue. My mileage is only at 97k km and always been using unleaded petrol. Anyone else has this issue?

Hi bros, will greatly appreciate your advice regarding removal of catalytic converter. My engine warning light is being triggered on every 200km or 2 days after i reset ECU to wipe out engine warning light by removing fuses for ECU in fuse box. Recently undergone top overhaul to remove blown gasket and loose piston ring. Ran 1000km thus far since top overhaul. Mechanic advised me engine warning light come on could be due to lubricants used in engine during top overhaul job, causing excess exhaust fumes which overwhelmn catalytic converter. Advised me that if engine warning light symtoms persists after 3 or 4 tankfuls of Techron petrol to wash out lubricants and still engine warning light on, then it must be catalytic converter spoil according to diagnostics test and need to spend 1k+ to fix. Song Yi, authorised stockist for my Hyundai Accent 1.5m quoted me $1450 include air freight from Korea for catalytic converter, so shop is not chopping me. It's parts expensive. My query is rgd removal of catalytic converter, will this cause further problems to smooth and safe running of engine? My understanding is this will "Tong" the exhaust, perhaps drop FC and risk TP fine (which I shall risk), but should solve my engine warning light problem. Mech advised that remove catalytic converter will affect CO2 emissions and may cause Engines Warning Light to keep coming on. Is this true? Am i being sold a con job?

Changing it is so expensive. Any idea where I can get an old (but workable) cat convertor and put it there. Got this qtn for a new one and it's like >$700! wah lau..siao. Any after market type (non Suzuki) that can be used? I think LTA is quite strict over exhaust change. Any advise from experts or advice here? Thanks in advance ppl!!
