In China, not too long ago, auto dealers enjoy record sales for their luxury models but that soon changed recently. A maturing market and stiff competition has dropped sales level to an all time low and many of these dealers have resorted by offering consumers huge discounts. But a Chinese auto dealer, Zhongsheng Group, has come up with a rather unique way to help them sell more cars and that is to buy a majority stake in the famous German tuning company, Carlsson. If you are a Mercedes Benz fan, you would be familiar with the name Carlsson. A little history about the company before I continue with the article. Carlsson Autotechnik is a tuning and aftermarket parts company that specialises in Mercedes Benz vehicles. The company was started by two brothers, Rolf and Andreas Hartge, and the company name honours the Swedish rally driver, Ingvar Carlsson, who raced for the Mercedes Rally Team during the 1980s. They make parts for virtually every Mercedes Benz model, including the Mercedes Benz Vito. Zhongsheng Group has bought a 70 percent stake in the company for an undisclosed amount and they intend to use Carlsson

German tuner, Carlsson, has come up with a new tuning program for the latest Mercedes Benz SLK. For aerodynamics and styling purpose, Carlsson designed a new front lip spoiler and grille inserts made from electropolished stainless steel. At the rear there's a diffuser insert and rear spoiler which increase contact pressure at the rear axle. Carlsson also lowered the suspension on the SLK by up to 30 mm and added new wheels with rims between 18 to 20 inches in size. Under the hood of this 3rd generation convertible, Carlsson has developed a new C-Tronic kit with different stages of output boosts for the new range of CGI engines found in the SLK. For the SLK 200 CGI with a standard output of 184 PS, the C-Tronic tuning can dial the horsepower to a maximum of 224 PS. There's also a less powerful boost up to 211 PS. For the higher end SLK 250 CGI, power gets bumped up to a maximum of 239 PS from the original 204 PS. The interior of the SLK receives an upgrade from Carlsson

German tuning firm, Carlsson, has unveiled its performance and styling package for the second generation of the 4 door sports saloon. Carlsson revised the model's exterior with a comprehensive aerodynamics package comprising of a restyled front bumper that incorporates a lip spoiler and LED fog lights. Other styling enhancements include side skirts, rear apron with a built in diffuser and a boot lid spoiler. There is also a choice of alloy wheel designs. For the interior, Carlsson's menu includes an Alcantara sports steering wheel as well as pedals and foot rest made of brushed aluminium. Floor mats featuring the firm's logo with a matching boot cover completes the interior enhancement. The tuning house offers performance upgrades for the CLS 350 CGI petrol and 350 CDI V6 diesel models. With the CK35 kit, the V6 petrol engine's output is lifted from 306HP and 370Nm to 333HP and 410Nm. As a result, the car's 0-100km/h sprint time drops from 6.1 seconds to 5.9 seconds. Thanks to the firm's C-Tronic DIESEL POWER electronic tune, the 350 CDI produces 320HP and 780Nm of peak torque, up from the stock model's 265HP and 650Nm. Hello. We're back with mental Mercedes Benzes again. This time Carlsson has decided to do their own version of the AMG SL65 Black in their own manic little way. The Carlsson Super GT C25 is a fixed head coupe unlike the model the car is based upon, the normal SL65. Like the AMG SL65 Black, the GT C25 has its own bespoke bodywork that dispenses with the folding top and has that fixed roof. Of course this lessens weight by losing all those motors and folding roof parts from the original SL65. The material utilized for the bespoke bodywork is mainly the very light and very strong carbon fibre. All the lights have been changed and from the outside, it is barely recognizable as a Mercedes. The interior is surprisingly a very dull brown with some yellow thrown about here and there. After the fairly outrageous (for a Mercedes) exterior, the show car's interior is pretty subdued. I think it needs a Gemballa like interior with all those garish red quilted leather to really make an impact. Maybe Carlsson wanted a balance that wouldn't chase away prospecting customers as they are only planning to build 25 units of the C25. Anyway, the interior is fully customizable with only 1 unit allocated per country. I wonder if there's any allocated for Singapore or even this region? So what's the other specification like? The front apron is distinguished by large air inlets for the intercooler and brake ventilation. A supplementary rear spoiler and front lip bring about a reduction in lift at the front and rear and fit aesthetically into the overall exclusive and sporting look. Another aspect of the Carlsson range is the height-adjustable shock absorbers with 9-way compression and rebound adjustment, which permits extremely high cornering speeds. The CLK-RS roll bar offers additional protection and ensures greater body rigidity. Ergonomically shaped Recaro bucket seats and the ergonomically designed steering wheel provide safety and comfort inside the car. Another part of this exclusive range is the Carlsson complete sports exhaust system. Made of stainless steel, with sport end silencers (4 tailpipes with oval trims), the system generates a sound to delight the enthusiast's ears.
