  2. After a long hiatus, a new compact / mid size MPV is coming from Kia finally, which will be officially unveiled in another 10 days time. This shall be a strong challenger to the BMW 2GT, Citroen Grand C4 SpaceTourer, Honda Freed, Peugoet 5008, Renault Grand Scenic, Toyota Sienta and VW Touran. Kia has officially announced the return of the Carens nameplate in a brand new minivan that will be unveiled on December 16. The teaser video published by the Korean automaker gives us a glimpse of the Carens which is rumored to share its underpinnings with the Seltos SUV. The fourth-generation Carens appears to adopt a more SUV-like appearance instead of the outdated one-box MPV silhouette of its predecessors. It also inherits Kia’s latest design language with thin LED headlights and full-width taillights similar to the ones on the new Sportage. The new Carens will likely be longer and taller than the Seltos in order to provide more interior space and practicality. The tall roofline will also allow for a third row of seats making it a seven-seater like its predecessor. After its world premiere on December 16, the model will roll out in India, follow by other markets at a later date.
  3. I signed a sales agreement to purchase a Carens on 24th February 2018 at KIA Fulco Ubi. It was a display model and I received a generous $2000 discount for it. It was a July 2017 model, so I reckoned that it has been in the showroom for at least 8 months already. The next day, I went to KIA Alexandra to view the car. The car is full of stickers but I didn’t mind since the $2000 discount was generous. Before signing the agreement, the salesperson assured me once COE is secured they will remove the car from the showroom immediately. He claimed the registration process would be faster if I buy this display car since the car is already in the showroom. Sounded good to me. COE was secured more than 2 weeks ago on the 21st of March 2018. After being told that the COE was secured, I informed him that I hoped to get the car within 7-10 days. He told me that it is not possible as KIA was flooded with a lot of new registrations. He said he could deliver the car on 10th April at the earliest. The disappointing thing was that there had been no updates from the salesperson since 21st March. Since there is a lack of update and it’s already 7th April, I decided to take a trip to KIA Alexandra this morning to see if the car is still in the showroom. To my surprise, I saw the car still displayed in the showroom! Now, the car has more stickers than usual and has a lot of unsightly marks from previous stickers. Also, for the whole duration I was there, the lights were switched on. Sigh, God knows what will happen to the battery. I informed the salesperson of my disappointment. I told him that he had promised me that the car will be out of the showroom once COE is secured but the car is still there! It seems to me that they were intentionally delaying to deliver the car because they want to continue to use it as a display model. Looking at the state of the car now, it seemed to be in a more “abused” condition than when I saw the car on the 25th February. I wished I was informed about this issue earlier. Personally, with my dealings with businesses, I try to be understanding as much as possible. To be honest, I won’t mind if the car is still on display for one extra weekend since I understand that they need some time to get a replacement car.....but putting the car on display for another 3 extra weekends without telling me is just unethical. I think they were simply taking their chances that I would never find out. I am very disappointed that an AD is capable of lying and deceiving a customer like that. I was hoping for a small and kind compensation since my car was unnecessarily “abused” for a further unnecessary 3 weeks but their response was just a “sorry, we will take out your car from the showroom after this weekend. You should know that you are buying a display car. If you want a new car, get a new car.” Such an amazing response. I wish to seek advice if there are any recourse I could take. For one, I can go to CASE to lodge a formal complaint. Also, is it possible for me to get back my deposit if I refuse to buy the car in its current state? I understand that the TCOE will expire in 6 months. Hope you can offer me some advice. :)
  4. Dear friends at this forum.... this is my first post in this forum and hope to join you guys/gals for a good time! Got my Kia Carens last week. All was fine except some disappointment about the auto trans and the fuel consumption! The auto trans gear shift seems so stiff and plunge to higher gear lower rev so fast that the car could sustain the necessary torque to go (especially uphill....) The fuel consumption was also horrible, even after I add in the compensation for the differences in the size of the tyres... I am get so little km/litre that I am so embarassed to post! The specs says about 10-11 ... I understand that new cars needs run-in but I don't that it is so bad... if any can help me on these questions, I would be most appreciative! Cheers COSX

  9. Yesterday finally found the time to check how to change aircon filter for my ride. Managed to do it after some effort. At first thought have to unscrew some screws to remove the glovebox compartment and really dig to access the filter like my previous MIJ Latio and some other cars I know of. But it prove to be much more easy and really effortless. To access the aircon filter on this car, no need any tools at all! Just bare hands! Just need to turn out a round plastic knob on each side of the glovebox, then push out the arm latch at bottom left corner of the glovebox, then you can see the fliter just right staring at you. Then just pull the filter tray out and you can do the cleaning or changing you want. Very amazed by the ingenuity of the Korean designers for this car! 5 mins will be all it takes after some experience, and no sweat unlike other cars need whole body contorting to squint and look for the bloxxdy filter and getting all wet after the job. One more thing I found is that it seems certain model of Hyundai cars share the same filter as both company logos are printed on the filter. Not surprising since they are sister companies. The aircon filter dimension: 20.5cm x 22.5cm x 1.5cm At least the easy access will encourage me to do frequent dusting on the filter and do DIY filter changing. Really Love this car more and more.

  20. Hi there, 1. If given a choice would you go for a brand new Carens or a 2 years old Honda stream? Assuming both have about the same value. 2. I guess, Carens is probably the cheapest 7 seater MPV around. Of course, there is also a 1.3L 7 seater MPV from Daihatsu that is around 70k, brand new. 3. Anyone currently driving a Caren? any objective comments? Thank you. Regards.
