Wonder why choosing the right car is so important? The 'I LOVE SUBARU' Facebook Group page recently uploaded pictures of a totaled Subaru Forester. With the windscreen and front frame completely totaled, you would imagine that those in the car could not have left without serious injuries. But thankfully, no grisly photos of the driver follow beyond just a slightly bruised leg. Aren't modern cars a real thing of wonder? The best part of the story is in the caption: The owner of the vehicle, Mr. Jacky Yew is now fit to proceed with his wedding planned for the end of the month! Mr Yew was driving a forth generation Subaru Forester near Yong Peng, Malaysia in the extreme right lane, with two trucks which were in the adjacent lane to his left. When a tyre on the first truck burst and flew off, the second truck was forced to take evasive action. In doing so, the second truck served abruptly into Mr Yew's lane. Mr Yew could not brake in time and collided into the back of the second truck. But after suffering only minor injuries on his right leg, he has apparently walked off from the accident and into a Subaru showroom to get himself... Another Forester! Mr Yew is collecting his fifth generation Forester just one week after the accident. He says, "I may not have made it to my wedding on 30 November if I was not driving a Subaru Forester. I am glad I drive a Subaru and I am grateful it has saved my life. That is why I immediately placed an order for the new Forester, just two days after my accident." The post states that "Subaru takes tremendous pride in safety engineering. We can't predict the future, but we can be better prepared for every possible outcome." We wish Mr Yew all the best for his marriage! (Even if it already looks like he has plenty of lady luck on his side)

I feel, that the new measures would also have an impact on how people take care of their cars and as well as driving pattern. Here are some reasons: 1. Since most cannot fathom paying 50% dp for next car, they will now take care of their cars more prudently 2. With point 1 above, there should be more safe driving, lest one gets into an accident and then no car 3. Many will leave their cars home, scared of any incident, thus roads might be a little less congested??? 4. NO MORE OPCs on the downside, i feel this is gonna happen: 1. Scratching and vandalising of cars from those green eyed 2. Bigger gap among the Jap and Contis, with the face factor, leading to more snobbishness 3. Carparks gonna be full as ppl not gonna drive out more? Whatever the reason, drive safe all, as thie vehicle is gonna see and be with you for a long long time.....Have you hugged your car today? [laugh]

THE government looks closely at permanent residents' (PRs) contributions to Singapore before deciding which ones can become citizens, said Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew on Sunday night at a Tanjong Pagar GRC event. 'So please put up with the new immigrants. We are very careful about who becomes a citizen,' he said, responding to criticisms over the growing influx of foreigners living and working here. There were more than 1.2million foreigners in Singapore last year. Mr Lee said that 10per cent of the pool of foreigners here are new PRs, while another 20per cent are PRs who have been here for some time. 'This 20per cent, we will look at their performance and slowly absorb those who can help us. If they don't help us raise the level, they won't be citizens. We are not stupid.' As for the remaining 70per cent of foreigners who are here on work permits, 'they are not citizens and never will be', he added. 'They will go home after two years. They do the difficult jobs and without them, MRT stations will not go up. Read the full story in Monday's edition of The Straits Times.

Many ppl participate in many different froums everyday. But please take note. If you are posting remarks or comments on a particular known person, please refrain from making subjective comments or even worse malicious remarks. Example is the recent case of the stabbed prof at NTU. Once you logged on you are identified. If you make any comments that are rumours or hearsay and borders on damaging a person's reputuation you are liable for criminal defamation and civil suits. Just a friendly reminder , as I feel some ppl have 'forgotten' about this.

The past week alone my family encoutered 2 incidents of finding foreign objects in our food. The first was at the Singapore Poly staff cafe (near the tall Telecom structure near Dover Road). My daughter's pasta dish had a metal wire inside. Luckily it was in her dish because she is the more alert one of my kids. I alerted the cafe manager and all he said was "Oh, looks like it is from the metal brush used in the kitchen". The second incidence was at Parkway Parade foodcourt. Again my daughter found a piece of hard plastic inside her pork porridge. I brought the piece of plastic back to the stall to show the 2 women preparing the food. Guess what is their answer? "Oh, it is just dried bee hoon". Bee Hoon my foot. I should have asked them to eat it. I am so disgusted at the carelessness of these eateries I think it is safer to eat at home. You guys have similar experiences?

I just finished some stuff at Church office which was facing Hougang Ave 3, As we all know, that long stretch during Peak Hours is mad... and some cars try to use the Bus Lane to overtake and stuff... Was just minding my P's and Q's and suddenly heard a loud screech of tyres and BANG! Woah i turned ard, hoping to see DK in his badly crumpled A168 ... But no I saw , in that split second, a white Toyota Hiace van, carrying SCHOOL CHILDREN mind you, scrape against this cyclist. I just stood there, rooted and not knowing what to do.. I was brought back to earth when my friend said, aiyah nothing lah.... tHEN i realised what happened. The cyclist picked himself and his bengkok bike and dragged it to the side of the road. I felt weird. Why was the Hiace on Bus Lane... Suddenly , buses came. But they still were there. From afar, i was like... i saw them talking.. So i walked away Then the van driver, came to me from behind and asked if i could speak english, so i offered my help to negotiate things btw them Apparently, that cyclist ( As he claimed), came from China just 3 days ago and doesn't know the road conditions well... Thus he RODE HIS BIKE RIGHT ACROSS THE 3 LANES. Omg, i wanted to slap his face for being so dangerous. Heng that Busdriver ( Indian), stopped and jammed brakes in time, and only causing the chinaguy to have a slight gash on his hand from the fall... What if the bus didn't stop? and just banged head on? No thanks latioboy, i don't want a nightmare to see gruesome body parts... So the bus driver told me that it was NO fault of his. THe cyclist rode ACROSS all 3 lanes and wanted to come to the side of the road. I was shocked.. But the cyclist looked damn stunned. So the busdriver told me to tell him in chinese, that he is NEVER going to accept responsibility... So i told that guy, and he said he will call his boss to come down to negotiate... With my father waiting the other side at a carpark, i then left the 2 of them.. But what i have learnt is... It's damn dangerous. Yes if what that china guy said was true, yeah, he is wrong, but cant blame him cause he dunno out traffic. But if he was lying, it was obviously the cyclists fault.. Phew... Scary... That scary BANG sound still resounds in my head.. Off to dinner now.
