MPV gets flipped like a pancake after running the red light at Raffles Quay

The karma in this one was instantaneous. It hit like a taxi, in fact. What happened? An MPV tried to run a red light just in front of Lau Pa Sat at Raffles Quay. At this time, a taxi was moving forward as the green light had just come on for its lane. There was no visible attempt at braking on the MPV’s side. This resulted in a T-bone as the taxi was perfectly positioned to hit the side of the MPV as it was moving, causing it to lose stability and flip to its side. I’m also suspecting that it’s a variant of a Toyota Alphard because the front grille looks remarkably similar, but the fog lights are throwing me off. I also like how in the video the other cars stopped for a bit to take in the crash, and then moved on with their day and carried on lol. Online chatter There’s no sympathy for the speeding MPV of course. Some people were concerned for the taxi driver and the road. Writer’s thoughts: Besides that, do drive safely everyone. Actor Paul Walker — a self-styled adrenaline junkie best known for his role in “The Fast and the Furious” movies — was killed Saturday in a fiery single-car wreck in Southern California. A statement on the actor’s Facebook page said he was a passenger in a friend’s car, and that Walker was in the area to attend a charity event for his organisation Reach Out Worldwide. According to fire officials, the single vehicle crash happened at around 3:30 p.m. local time in the Rye Canyon Business Park. A red Porsche struck a light pole and a tree. Two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. A message posted late Saturday on Walker’s official Facebook page read: ”We too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time.” The L.A. County Sheriff’s Traffic Services Detail and County Coroner are investigating the cause of the accident. It said deputies found a car engulfed in flames when they responded to a report of a collision. Images showed the burned-out wreckage of a red Porsche sports car by the side of the road. "It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organisation Reach Out Worldwide," the statement on the actor's Facebook page said. "He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We... are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news.'' Universal Pictures also issued a statement, saying studio staff were "heartbroken" by Walker's death. "Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the Fast & Furious films, and to countless fans. "We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul's family."

Accident causes death of Aston Martin driver Allan Simonsen at Le Mans

A fatal accident at the 24 Hours of Le Mans claimed the life of 34-year old Aston Martin driver, Allan Simonsen. Competing for the seventh time in the event, Simonsen spun his No. 95 Aston Martin Vantage GTE at the Tertre Rouge corner and hit the crash barriers. The car lost traction on a curb, causing the back of the car to slide to the left before flicking back the other way and sending the car into the guardrail. In a statement, Aston Martin Racing Managing Director John Gaw said, "On behalf of all of us at Aston Martin Racing, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the individuals, and families whose friends or loved ones were involved in today's terrible tragedy." Simonsen's death was the first such racing incident during a 24 Hours of Le Mans race since Jo Gartner was killed in 1986. Simonsen began his career in karting before moving to cars in 1999, winning the Danish Formula Ford Championship. -
A German driver, Uwe Schrager, deliberately crashed his Ford Mondeo into a tree to test the airbags of his car. "I knew that the car was fitted with airbags but I didn't trust that they would work, so I wanted to test them. I felt it was better to have a low speed crash that I was likely to survive if they didn't work rather than a high speed crash when it will be too late if they didn't work," said the unemployed Schrager when questioned by the police. When the police arrived, they found the driver putting the car's bumper and other parts into the boot so that he could drive the wrecked vehicle back home and get it repaired. The driver was tested negative for drugs or alcohol. Police said that the man had expected to be able to put back the airbags after the test, but had then discovered that this wasn't possible. The 45-year old Schrager apparently expected the insurance company to put the car back together again but was informed that the incident is not claimable as he had admitted to deliberate crashing. An ordinary Singaporean has a lot of concerns on his mind which could include his child's education, cost of living and job stability. However, it is best to put all these concerns away temporarily while driving. According to an analysis of the US national crash data, more fatal car crashes are caused by drivers who are 'lost in thought' rather than using a mobile phone. To be exact, 10 percent of the fatal accidents in the US involve at least one driver who is distracted and 62 percent of the distraction had to do with daydreaming and 'lost in thought'. Mobile phone usage constituted 12 percent. The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety advised drivers to stay focused on the dangers of the road by playing the 'what if' game and asking themselves how they would react to unexpected events on the road. The foundation said that drivers should treat driving as a complicated task requiring full attention. Other significant distractions include rubbernecking, having a conversation with the passengers, eating and moving an object.

Well here it is - the first accident involving the chic looking all-new Jaguar F-Type roadster which will not be available till later this year. Sadly any information regarding the crash are not available and from the picture it is kinda obvious the front end needs many hours of repair. Apparently the crash happened during a comparison test between the Jaguar F-Type and two other cars. Thankfully no one was injured, except the car. Hey cars have feelings too ok? The Jaguar F-Type, is the successor to the famous Jaguar E-Type and will enter production in a couple of months.

Recently on the 2nd of October, there was a crash at the Nurburgring track in Germany. Many people speculated on the internet about what had happened. The matter of fact is that no one really knew what happened and there are even rumours that there are some people who are trying to "veil" this incident. But now, there is a video circulating on the internet that shows part of the accident. This video was shot from the back of a car that wasn't involved in the crash. The video is over 15 minutes long but the incident starts at the 09:55 mark. You might want to skip to that point. At around the 10:00 mark, after the car has slowed down, it passes through the accident site. If you look at the video closely (close to the top right corner of the car's rear windscreen), at the 10:32 point, you can see the second crash taking place which supposedly involved the BMW M3 "Ring taxi" hitting the back of the Corvette. Although we didn't get to see the first accident taking place but at least it gives us a clearer picture of what happened during the second one. A long strecth of a fast left bend was just before the accident site and as we can see from the video, many cars scrambled to apply their brakes after seeing other vehicles slowing down. And any cars that were too fast would have little time to brake and avoid a collision from happening. Drunken man crashes his US$50,000 Ford Mustang Boss 302

A Wisconsin man decided to flex his newly-acquired beer muscles by testing his newly-acquired track-ready Mustang on a local street. He lost control, hit a Jeep Grand Cherokee and ricochet into a tree. The 35-year-old man now faces charges after he allegedly downed up to ten beers at a cookout, then took his $50,000 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca for a joyride. Police say he was traveling at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour when he went into a spin. The subsequent crash ripped off the driver's side door, and a passenger suffered a compound fracture in his right arm. The Mustang owner's been charged with one count of first offense operating while intoxicated and causing injury, along with one count of reckless driving and causing injury for good measure. He could get two years in jail if he's convicted.
