  2. Teen comes up with Super Capacitor as a Cellphone Battery If we build a Super Capacitor the size of a m16 magazine, viola!!! the days of stars wars is at hand hey!!! if we can build a Super Capacitor the size of one building, we can even absorb and store electricity from lighting whoa!!! maybe even got lighting defence towers!!! machiam game like that!!! if these are truely real, i think middle east oil people http://edition.cnn.com/2013/05/20/tech/whiz-kid/index.html
  3. Hi bros, have a question on the above. What's the diff ? Can I use capacitor instead of crossover for my tweeter? Thank you.
  4. anyone got Idea where to get the bloated capacitor for mother board replaced ? COst ? P3
  5. Some questions for the gurus here... Is there a maximum acceptable distance a Powercap can be from the amp? Here's my current situation, my amps and power caps are under my seats but the rear passengers are kicking the caps...so i intend to shift the caps to the boot but leave the amps under the seat. Here's my intended setup... Will it work because the distance from the distribution block to the power cap is about 3.5M and the amps are under the seats so in theory the power needs to travel from the Cap in the boot, to the dist block in the front, to the amps under the seat, total distance will be about 4.5M the current will have to travel...unless it doesn't work that way?
  6. Hi all Cap owner, Mice hv a silly qtn to ask.... As most caps would hv two posts on top to connect the (+) & (-) wires, and is usually tightened by a cap screw, see white circles. May I ask if the two points are live points, carrying the +12V n Gnd. Reason for asking: I m planning to put the caps on the right side in the front passengers area (some where on the center console side wall). So m worried, if its live, one day my front passenger accidently short the two points, and thus my battery, or is that not possible ? thanks mice
  7. Not done by professional... Just a simple DIY job which I have carry out on Saturday.. I know I can simply have it installed by those ICE installer. But, as some of you might know, I prefer to DIY my stuff as and when possible. Current setup. From Car battery to amps, there is a 60a fuse. New Setup. To have an additional fuse in between the amp and the 60a fuse. Some of you might not agree that why should I add an additional fuse since I already have a 60A fuse. Reason: Lower fuse would normally blow first if 'something' bad were to happen. And currently the lowest fuse are those in the Amp. As such, I just want to be safe.. Add another 'lower' fuse in between the 60a and 30a (amp), so that it something bad happens, it will blow the new additional fuse first instead of those on my amp. I also want to install another power cap to my current setup. In short, the new setup involve an additional fuse holder and power capacitor. My material cost: Red Cable for +ve (Balance from my grounding project) Black Cable for -ve (1 meter - $2.50) Fuse holder block (1 to 2 - $9) Fuse (30a - $1 X 5) brought 4 for $4, got extra one for free. Lanzar Capacitor
  8. as above may i know the reason for installing the capacitor when doing ICE set up? thank you
  9. Hi, I have a velocity vr6000 6-ch amp in my car, people are telling me that I need at least capacitor or some voltage stablizer between the battery and the amp. I need some advice on these. What is the use of a capacitor? Roughly how much? Can I put by the side of the amp at the boot instead of the engine compartment? (since it is like a big test tube with a digital counter) Thanks.
  10. Query on behalf of a fren (AH TAT) He is driving a VW Golf....has a Huge Capacitor poped in the trunk with a 4CH Velocity AMP and a tok gong woofer ...recently he finds the car starting a little delayed ...during ignition...Batt is still rather new ....so AH TAT disconnected the capacitor and things went back to normal - so he said.....what are the possibilities that his cap is retarding his ignition? Any Elec Enggrs around here?
