  1. Check this useful function out ............ I have been hoping to have this for a long time Use the Depreciation Calculator to get estimated figure You can find this in the car detail of the Used car section Better if we can sort by Depreciation value
  2. Got strategy to save on buying used car using these quidelines: 1) buy a parf car with about 3 years left to go> so that there's not much money the dealer can mark up anyway. 2) go for mileage about 10-15kpa. <10k pa is too underutilized and may pose other problems. 3) go for agent serviced. 4) preferably 1 owner and parked in sheltered place. 5) prepare not to take loan so that 1) dealer cannot make money for loan 2) can get rid of car anything if not happy or if any major defect without suffering any loss from early loan settlement because value of car is near paper value anyway. If bros and sis notice that in ST advertised are usually newer cars, thus much can be marked up on price and dealer can make on loan also. Dealers don't mind advertising bacause they stand to make a lot if deal is realised. So sgcarmart is the place to go to looks for such good value cars if bros and sis scrutise hard enough. Just my humble view and may not suit everyone, especially those looking for cars with latest features etc.
  3. Ok, so i'm quite fed up with my slow assed MPV. Need to change back to sedan. Could some kind hearted bro offer some advice on how to avoid being taken for a ride? I'm not worried about the mech condition of the car, but more about things like: How to ensure they do not take weeks or months to transfer the car that i am buying ? How to ensure that they transfer my current car to their company? Thank you!

  5. My father wants to get a used car, so anybody has any recommendations? Must be below 50,000, and not too small.
  6. Was looking at aGS300 last month at advertised price of $115k. Was thinking of waiting aft the 60 days full loan grace period before I check it out as I think price should come down. Juz went in to check and found dealer up the price to $125k!!!! What is happening???!?! R they trying to chop carrot on last min shoppers??
  7. With the spiralling COE now, i can think of a few things that the used car dealers will chut pattern. aLready they are bleeding, what is left is to bury them. Dun give them any lease of life... 1. If you are looking for a used car, mark down the cost based on the COE spiral. Dun be taken in with the reason that the COE value there, so your car value high. What you dun know is that they already buy the car in and said 'with low COEs, i give you less for your COE maybe 7-10% less' 2. If you are looking to sell your car, stick your guns and with the paper value and the body value. Ask around or search sgcarmart for any of the body values and price accordingly. Post here in MCF, maybe can get inputs Any one else, do give your inputs
  8. Was browsing through the used car and noticed this dealer ..... anyone can spot the concern ?
  9. Saw cars on auction in sgcarmart and some are pretty new with low mileage. Most probably repossessed. Felt tempted to send in a tender. Yep, typical questions like unknown history, warranty issues, etc? I bet dealers dig into these cars and sell as 'normal' used cars as well.. Hmm.. Tempted ..
  10. Im currently looking at a lancer ex gt manual which left abt less than 4 years life span. so far there already 3 owner to this vehicle. Was hoping to drive til scrap ( if i can lah ) but was told by many people that the moment this car go pass my hand can consider paper value cause no dealer will offer anything higher if i plan to sell and no buyer dare to buy because they will think 4 owner = car many problem. Somemore its manual which mean that resale is also low. Depre is at about 9.7k annually so not sure whether is worth it...
  11. I have seen cars which has 2 or more owners, 8 years or older in the used car market with mileage of less than 100,000km mark. Do you personally think that this is possible based on most Singaporean driving habits? I don't drive much except to and fro work and average about 1600km per month. I might believe that the car has low mileage if it is sold by direct owner and he is the one and only owner. My father scrap his 10 year old car recently and his is one and only owner, clocked about 56,000km when scrapped. With the lemon law in place, I wonder if any dealers still resort in "rewinding" the clock back to a lesser number to attract potential victims.
  12. Hello everybody!
