Two pedestrians jaywalk across a junction in Bangkit Road and almost lost their lives. In this short clip, two men jog across a pedestrian crossing on a red light. As they almost reached the other end of the crossing, a yellow taxi quickly zooms past them. The vehicle nearly hits the uncle at the front, who notices the car and slows down for a second. The camcar follows the taxi as it slows down further up the road, with the driver claiming that the taxi uncle had the fright of his life after encountering the two jaywalkers. Although the taxi had the right of way, the driver should have practiced defensive driving and slow down when approaching the junction. Just because the light is red for pedestrians does not mean that there won't be any jaywalkers around. However, there is no excuse for jaywalkers to think they own the road and that the vehicles will slow down for them. Jaywalking is an offense in Singapore and it merits a fine of $50 for first-time offenders. Personally, I think the most entertaining thing in this video is the adorable way that the uncle slows down when he notices the taxi as he jaywalks/jayruns. The manner in which he crosses the road is mildly feminine as well, which raises some eyebrows. Netizens' reactions TBH, I don't feel like there's a need for these two men to jaywalk across the junction. Why so 'kanchiong'? In the video, you can see a Volkswagen Jetta pull up and park beside the "victim's" car. A woman gets out of the Jetta and dumps Trash Bag A. She then disappears out of frame for a pretty long time and suddenly, at about 1.26 into the video, another trash bag, (Trash Bag B) appears next to Trash Bag A. The woman then cooly takes all her barang barang and walks off. No F#$s given. Who should you notify There have been cases like this before. I'm looking for anyone with an in-car cam or had witnessed a hit-and-run incident along Upp. Bukit Timah road near Bt. Panjang, around 7.30PM. Bike failed to squeeze and hit the rear passenger side of my wife's car. Left a scratch. Ran away. My wife's car cam could not capture the license plate as it was dark and bike was in motion. There was a Citicab behind her. Let me put this out as a warning to all riders -- you hit a car, even just the side mirrors -- you stop and apologise. If it's small incident, I will let it pass, but if you don't stop, it is a criminal offence to hit and run, and I will hunt you down, and I will make you pay. I've had two bikers hit my side mirrors and ran away already. Not letting this one go easily. And BTW, all incidents are SG bikes. MY bikers seem more in control of their bikes.
