TL-DR- Camcar high beams a Mercedes for no reason, Mercedes driver brake checks camcar. No one can decide who’s in the wrong. We are missing so much context that I can’t give a definite answer on who’s in the wrong this time. Comment down below what are your thoughts! What happened? At Bukit Batok Avenue 3, a camcar decided to high beam a Mercedes C180 out of nowhere for seemingly no reason. When the footage was submitted to SGRoadVigilante, the person was quoted to say “upset when i high beam him, purposely e-brake and caused me to bang into him while turning.” While we do not if it was intentional, the Mercedes indeed brake checked the cam car shortly after being high beamed. However, the camcar did not keep a safe distance from the Mercedes either, leaving no room for it to brake and keep from knocking into the Merc. After the knock, the Mercedes’s driver pulled over and immediately started taking pictures of the camcar and damage done to his own car. Breakdown of mistakes On the camcar’s side, they used high beams when there was no reason to, which is the equivalent of a silent flashbang for whoever is directly in front of them. They also did not keep a safe distance from the Mercedes which, whether intentional or not, allowed the camcar to knock into the Merc’s rear. On the Merc’s side, we have brake checking the camcar. We have no explanation as to why they did this and any reason they have would be under scrutiny as they brake checked directly after the high beams cut out. Furthermore, some already feel that this driver setup the situation to get an insurance claim due to how quickly they got ready to take evidence of the incident. However, being quick to take pictures seems reasonable to me as you don’t know if the driver will immediately run off after an accident like that. So... in the end you can't win in that situation I guess. Online chatter Here are the people who feel that the Mercedes was at fault. Others wanted the camcar to explain the high beams before making a conclusion. One also pointed out the lack of distance between the two vehicles. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. An untimely explosion in a Bukit Batok HDB estate leaves a driver thanking the heavens for his life. Just as the driver is about to turn into the estate's MSCP, he witnesses a mysterious flash in the sky. Seconds later, the service road in front of him blows up in an explosion that could lead to some pretty severe injuries. Thankfully, he slows down before entering the carpark due to the heavy weather conditions, which results in him avoiding the explosion seconds before it happens. Honestly, how lucky can one be to avoid something like this? Possible scenarios While we don't know the specifics, here are some possible scenarios. The most likely explanation for the cause of this explosion would be a lightning strike. While it is rare to witness a lightning strike in Singapore, the reality is that it's not impossible. Today, the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS)'s lightning alert map indicates heavy thunderstorms around the Bukit Batok area, with lightning alerts every half an hour. Another possibility would be that something could have fallen into the drain, which ignited a mini-explosion. It's not impossible, but many factors would have to be in place for this to occur. The last possibility could be that the constant weather changes might have led to the blow-up. Heavy rainfall causes the entrapment of excess water under the surface of pavements and roads, which would boil when the weather suddenly begins to heat up. This phenomenon is known as 'thermal expansion, and it frequently occurs in areas with hot days and heavy rains. However, this is not likely to be the case because the explosion happened while it was still raining heavily. Netizens' reactions Nevertheless, I hope that the driver is alright and did not suffer any injuries aside from getting the scare of his life. 😅 --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. Heng not AHTC, else don't know how many motions will be tabled in parliament again... Jurong-Clementi Town Council gets warning from SCDF after firefighters unable to use hose reels during blaze SINGAPORE: The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) has issued a warning to Jurong-Clementi Town Council after firefighters on call to a blaze at an HDB flat in Bukit Batok last week were unable to use the fire hose reels at the location. Several of the hose reel cabinets had been padlocked, SCDF said in a statement to CNA on Saturday (Nov 9). Even after firefighters broke one of the padlocks, they were still unable to use the fire hose reel because there was no water supply, SCDF added. The fire was eventually extinguished with water from SCDF's emergency vehicles. "Town Councils are responsible for the maintenance and proper functioning of their estates’ fire safety measures," SCDF said. FIRE HAZARD WARNING Later on in the day, SCDF notified Jurong-Clementi Town Council of the issue with the fire hose reels and performed an inspection with town council representatives, it said in its statement. The Town Council was subsequently issued with Fire Hazard Abatement Notices, which serve as warnings to rectify the non-compliance. In this instance, it would mean ensuring that the hose reels are functioning and are not locked, SCDF said in its statement. Should non-compliances of the same nature be detected during a reinspection by SCDF, the Town Council could be liable for a composition fine or even prosecution, it added. "SCDF has since verified through onsite inspections that the fire hose reels at the block are now accessible and in working order." CNA has contacted Jurong-Clementi Town Council for comment.

For Bukit Batok West residents, Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Amy Khor made sure that they do. After receiving feedback from her constituents, she took prompt action, leading to the setup of a temporary bus stop. Located at Blk 460D Bukit Batok West Ave 9, the bus stop will serve residents in the Bukit Batok West extension and Hong Kah North. Residents of West Quarry and the nearby blocks are especially thankful, as they have a much closer stop to alight at. According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA), the bus stop currently only has service 160M. Whether more will be added in due time is unclear for now. Residents thank Dr Amy Khor for prompt response Delighted residents took to the comments section to thank Dr Khor for seeing to their needs so quickly. One noted how the turnaround was very fast, after residents gave her their feedback. Others chipped in with some extra queries, including additional bus services that could be made available there. All in all, however, their sincere gratitude was apparent, as many left glowing comments and appreciation for their MP. Greater convenience for all To see a leader delivering on her promises to serve her community is a heartening sight indeed. That they’re all so thankful further proves how useful her help has been. We’re glad that the residents now get to enjoy greater convenience. Kudos to Dr Khor for taking care of them dutifully. Let’s hope that the temporary bus stop will become a permanent one in due time, offering more services for commuters in the area.
