They say imitation is the highest form of compliment. I heard about the news on BBC radio. Their MP also claim higher pay is to prevent corruption. Link http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-22690820 Kenyan MPs have voted to raise their salaries in defiance of proposals to cut pay. The vote suggests a monthly salary of about $10,000 (

From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Online...ory_769134.html Raise the bar on scholarships to foreign students Published on Feb 22, 2012 SENIOR Parliamentary Secretary for Education Sim Ann told Parliament that 900 full scholarships are awarded each year to students from non-Asean countries to study for a degree here ('Foreign scholars closely tracked'; last Saturday). This is in addition to 170 similar scholarships for Asean students yearly. Although this pool of foreign talent will augment the local pool, the Government must show that Singaporeans come first by ensuring there are more scholarships for Singaporeans than foreigners. The foreign recipients must also deserve the awards. Ms Sim stated that 45 per cent of foreign scholarship holders complete their undergraduate studies with a second-upper class honours or better. However, as these recipients are selected from among the best from their home countries with bigger populations, the percentage ought to be higher. The millions of dollars that taxpayers underwrite for these scholarships will be well spent if more than half of the scholarship holders achieve at least second-upper class honours. http://johnharding.com/why-gas-should-be-a-a-buck-a-gallon/ = Price of gas $0.91 in Saudi Arabia, $0.78 in Kuwait, $1.74 in Puerto Rico (part of the USA). So how can that be? It costs less than a dollar to produce a barrel of oil in Saudi Arabia

Feb 23, 2011 Boycott pass-the-buck businesses I REFER to last Saturday's report ("Changes for firms"), which quoted Mr Ivan Lee, founder of restaurant chain Thai Express, as saying that the rise in foreign worker levy would be passed on to consumers most of the time, which is why prices of food and services continue to go up. His remark seems to imply that the Government can introduce any manner of levies and all businessmen need to do is pass on the cost to customers. Any rise in the prices of food and services can, therefore, be attributed to the Government. His comment reveals an unacceptable attitude by businesses towards customers and suggests an indifference to the spirit and objective of the foreign worker levy. From a customer's viewpoint, such a remark, especially coming from the boss himself, is wrong. I, for one, shall not be patronising his restaurants. Gan Teck Lee Another unhappy fella in our land. Business can't survive on charity leh. Ivan oso shud have thought out his statement. Cud have said they wl look for ways to cut costs. Anyways, can always hire PRs wat, why must specifically hire FW?

Be it car or hi fi or computer, modification can be addictive. Some do it blindly and some can't stop doing it. Save for those top of the line big ticket items perhaps, even a car costing maybe SGD80K to SGD100K can be mod for improvement. The question I ask is - is there any compromise and if it is worth the compromise ? Be it more power, sound reduction in cabin, horn, better pick up, improved stability improved FC etc etc, what your best mod for the dollar ? Please state any compromise and if it is worth the compromise. I've been driving for more than 10 years now, been looking and reading for mod to do on my car, but have yet to be convinced if any of them actually work with little or no compromise. Please share your experiance and thoughts.
