  2. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-30890989 I like this guy, although I'm not Catholic, but he seems very forward thinking, modern, unlike the previous ones who give me impression of slow, dying, not doing much.
  3. if one has a licensed dog with AVA and is a HDB permitted breed but the dog is a baker and a nuisance to the neighbor. does AVA or HDB got the right to remove the dog? just curious. if they still can remove the dog, than y buy a HDB permitted breed at the first place? might as well risk and buy a non HDB approved one...
  4. Recently I have encounter a new breed of drivers. They were not speeding nor road hogging. What they lack of is LANE DISCIPLINE, especially cornering at junctions or around curves. Best thing is, after a tap of the horn to warn them when they cut into your lane abruptly, they became agressive and resort to stunts like jam brake KNN what has the world come to? people do wrong thing after you correct them, they not happy and try to cause trouble? So far i have met uncle driving old benz, taxi drivers. Best was last night a malay driver driving a wish who did a jam brake stunt. If such drivers do not possess awareness on the road on what they did wrong, they are a hazard to other road users. no wonder so many Singaporean drivers failed to negotiate roads abroad
  5. Letter from Joseph Khoo I was from an all-boys school that used caning as one of the means of disciplining. I can assure you that boys who were caned tried their best to stay out of trouble after that. Dr Benjamin Spock, the well-known child psychologist, warned the babyboomer generation of parents that they should not discipline their children because such actions could warp a kid's fragile ego and harm the generation to come. However, before his death in 1998, Dr Spock made an amazing urnaround: He realised that he had been wrong. He said: "We have reared a generation of brats. Parents aren't firm enough with their children for fear of losing their love or incurring their resentment." While not advocating widespread canning as the main method of disciplining errant male and female students, I am convinced it is still an effective way to impose discipline. We must enforce discipline while striving for a delicate balance: While we do not want to raise children in an atmosphere of paralysing fear, we also do not want to unintentionally breed a generation of brats. We have breed a generation of brats?

  7. Car owners try to cheat on petty things like : 1. Parking coupons (not displaying any or tearing off the labels at a later time) 2. Parking illegally to avoid paying parking charges 3. Waiting before the ERP gantry to avoid paying ERP charges (and obstructing traffic) And ironically, these same owners can spend tonnes of money on modeifications, bigger sports rims wider tyres and ICE etc. ... worse still, spending money on unproven snake oil devices claiming to improve fuel economy. Why all the hassle and misery? Might as well not own a car. Better off to be chauffeured around in a taxi.
