  1. The all-new 2017 Impreza debuts the Subaru Global Platform architecture that's designed to deliver significantly higher levels of driving pleasure, agility, crash protection and ride comfort and will underpin a variety of upcoming Subaru vehicles, including hybrids. As before, every Impreza is equipped as standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a boon to driving agility and traction and a key advantage over front-wheel drive competitors. The roomier 2017 Impreza models also debut the brand's new design language and new driver-assist technology. Also new, multimedia features including standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ and standard Near Field Communication connectivity debut on Impreza. The new Impreza will be available in base, Premium, Sport and Limited trim lines when it arrives in Subaru dealerships in late 2016. Subaru's new design language puts the brand's signature hexagonal grille and hawk-eye headlights onto a more sculptural body, its athletic stance accentuated by prominent wheel arches and flowing lines. The dramatic new look carries into the cabin, with an outward-flow design that follows the front of the car. The 2017 Impreza rides on a 105.1-in. wheelbase, up 1.0-in. over the last generation Impreza. Both the Sedan and 5-Door are 1.6-in. longer than the outgoing models, and both are 1.5 in. wider. The larger dimensions create a roomier cabin, while a 0.4-in. lower height helps improve aerodynamics with a lower coefficient of drag. Although sleeker in appearance than the previous models, the 2017 Impreza Sedan and 5-Door preserve excellent all-around visibility. The new Subaru Global Platform, together with the Boxer engine, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and EyeSight® that represent Subaru's core technologies, constitutes the basic foundation of the next generation of Subaru vehicles. Impreza's new platform incorporates new frameworks with optimized cross sections and highly stiffened joints between structures to significantly enhance straight-line stability, agility and ride comfort while suppressing noise, vibration and harshness to a degree not seen in the compact class. Specifically, the new platform increases rigidity of the unitized body structure by over 70 percent. A lower center of gravity and revised suspension systems contribute to the biggest-ever leap in Subaru's performance evolution. The double-wishbone independent rear suspension mounts its rear stabilizer bar directly to the body, which helps reduce body roll by 50 percent compared to the outgoing model. Greater hazard-avoidance capability is another benefit of the Subaru Global Platform's inherent handling agility. In addition, the resolute straight-line stability that makes the 2017 Impreza more relaxing to drive is also an important constituent of the autonomous driving capability this platform can support in future Subaru vehicles. Taking full advantage of the new stiffer platform and more powerful engine, the Impreza 2.0i Sport, now available in the Sedan as well as 5-Door, delivers a more fun-to-drive performance feel thanks to exclusive suspension tuning, 18-inch machine-finish alloy wheels and Active Torque Vectoring. Subaru aimed for a new ride/handling balance benchmark in the compact segment. The Sport also includes a new 4-way Tire Pressure Monitoring System, which is available on other models. Exclusive exterior styling and features setting the Impreza Sport apart include standard LED daytime running lights (DRL), black-finish front grille, body-color rocker panels and turn signal side mirrors. The Impreza Sport 5-Door features gloss black rear gate trim, while the Sport Sedan has a rear trunk spoiler. Inside the Sport, unique black cloth upholstery is trimmed with red stitching, a motif that repeats for the steering wheel, gear shift, instrument panel and door trim. The instrument panel incorporates exclusive Sport gauges and a Multi-Function Display. The Sport comes well equipped, with upgrades over the Impreza Premium that include the Subaru STARLINK™ 8.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system, and a new harman/kardon® premium audio system is available. Keyless Access & Push-Button Start, aluminum pedals, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift handle and a CVT shift boot round out the Sport's enhanced standard equipment. A revised version of the FB 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Boxer engine gains direct fuel injection and other enhancements to boost both performance (now 152 horsepower vs. 148 before) and drivability. In highline trims, the Lineartronic® CVT (continuously variable transmission) features a 7-speed manual mode function with steering wheel paddle shifters that allow the driver to control the transmission via seven pre-set ratios. Subaru designed the 2017 Impreza to provide even higher levels of safety than the outgoing model, which was named an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK and a TOP SAFETY PICK+ when equipped with available EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology. The new platform underpinning the 2017 Impreza improves crash energy absorption by 40 percent over present models. The EyeSight® system includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking and Lane Departure and Sway Warning, plus a Lane Keep Assist function. Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are also available. Also new are available Steering Responsive Headlights, which can illuminate curves as the vehicle steers into them, and High Beam Assist, which automatically activates and deactivates the high beam headlamps based on driving conditions. All 2017 Impreza models include as standard equipment front seat side impact airbags, side curtain airbags and a driver's knee airbag. The 2017 Impreza adds new driver-assist technologies, including Reverse Automatic Braking and the display of steering lines for the standard rear vision camera. Reverse Automatic Braking can apply the vehicle's brakes if an obstacle is detected while reversing. A new 4-way Tire Pressure Monitoring System can detect pressure drops at individual wheels. Subaru STARLINK™ Multimedia systems offer the latest in digital music playing, Bluetooth® wireless capability, iPod® control, smartphone integration and more. The display screen also provides the display for the standard rear vision camera, and the top-level system includes navigation. The available Subaru STARLINK™ Safety and Security Connected Services give the 2017 Impreza one of the industry's most affordable telematics options. Depending on the package selected, features can include SOS Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, Maintenance Notifications, Monthly Vehicle Health Report and Diagnostic Alerts, Stolen Vehicle Recovery Service, Vehicle Security Alarm Notification, Remote Lock/Unlock, Remote Horn and Lights and Remote Vehicle Locator.
  2. Fans of the previous Subaru Forester STi must be rejoicing now because Subaru will be launching a new STi version of the current fourth generation soon. Unveiled in 2004, the last Forester STi was probably one of the sportiest SUVs out there. Unfortunately it was only meant for sale in Japan. Teased ahead of its official world debut on November 25th, we expect the car to come with the 2.5-litre turbocharged boxer engine from the WRX STi which means it will have 296bhp and 407Nm of torque. Or it could use the Japan-only 2.0-litre turbocharged unit that is found in their variant of the WRX STi which outputs 304bhp and 422Nm of torque. Yup, the Japanese keep all the good stuff to themselves. As seen from the photos, owners will be getting a car that comes with a bolder bodykit, new rims and bigger brakes. Let's hope the car will make it to our shores!
  3. Subaru recently announced that they will be releasing a track-ready BRZ straight from the assembly line. It is known as the BRZ RA Racing and this version is made exclusively for the Japanese market. Just like any other track or racing versions of the BRZ (or Toyota 86), the BRZ RA Racing is fitted with essential items a person needs when he/she hits the racing tracks. Luxurious comforts such as air-conditioning and stereo players have been left out and replaced with a six-point roll cage (with sidebar), a four point FIA certified racing harness and new floor mats. The BRZ RA Racing was designed with braking performance in mind. The front end receives brake ducts and both front and rear brakes get ventilated discs. The car also receives a Torsen limited slip differential. Removable front and rear tow hooks are placed for easy transportation tasks. In the engine bay, the only additional item is an air-cooled engine cooler and it is clearly seen at the left side of the front snout. Main reasons why the 2.0-litre Boxer engine is left untouched is because that most track enthusiasts would prefer to use their own racing components or parts. As mentioned above, the Subaru BRZ RA Racing is made only for the Japanese market and it is priced at around US$31,500.
  4. The third generation Subaru Forester has been around for several years now and it is time for a new model. That model received numerous changes especially in terms of size. It is bigger in terms of dimensions and it looks more bulky compared to its predecessor. The new Forester now sits on a longer wheelbase and it is slightly longer, wider and taller. Although it may be bigger in dimensions but the new model still retains the overall look of the third generation model. Subaru has finally unveiled the fourth generation Forester, ahead of its debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. The new model will be available with two types of engine options. Firstly, the naturally aspirated model (second image from top) comes with a 2.5-litre four cylinder Boxer engine. This engine makes around 170bhp and 235Nm of torque. The turbocharged variant (top most image) comes fitted with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four cylinder Boxer engine which churns out around 250bhp and 350Nm of torque. The naturally aspirated model is fitted with either a six speed manual transmission or a Lineartronic CVT. The turbocharged model comes with a high-torque CVT gearbox with 6-speed and 8-speed manual modes and Hill Descent Control. Subaru
  5. [extract] The Subaru Impreza WRX has always been known worldwide for its rallying prowess and also for its sonorous Boxer engine. And since it was first released, there are distinct differences between the base Impreza model and the top of the line model which is the WRX STI. But things are about to change this week when the company
  6. [extract] The Porsche 911 was first released in the mid 1960s as a replacement for the now classic Porsche 356. With its distinct body shape and ever increasing engine performance, the 911 has become a code number for sports car excellence and the new generation Porsche 911 has not deviate from its traditions. Even though Porsche has revealed that ninety percent of the car

  8. Initially when the Subaru BRZ was released recently, Subaru announced that there will be no turbocharged version of their BRZ model. Many in the automotive world were left disappointed. Some felt that it would be a waste for Subaru not to release a powerful version of the car. Furthermore Subaru is known for their expertise in turbocharged engines and since the BRZ is using a boxer engine, that piece of news make it even more disappointing. Just before Subaru showed the BRZ to the world, they said that the car will have less than 300bhp. But eventually it was offered with the same engine and same power specifications as the 86. But latest reports have shown that Subaru will eventually release a turbocharged version of the BRZ. Subaru of America has announced that they are planning on building a turbo version of the boxer engine used in the BRZ in order to create a BRZ Turbo model. Subaru will work on the FA20 boxer engine which is being built at the Oizumi engine manufacturing plant, the same plant where Toyota

This is the second tS model after the Legacy tS which Subaru debuted last June. 12. Pacquiao backs speed to conquer Cotto (CNN) -- Manny Pacquiao believes his lightening hand speed will help him triumph over Miguel Cotto's raw power as he bids to take his World Boxing Organization welterweight title in Las Vegas on Saturday. The 30-year-old Filipino former flyweight world title-holder is hoping to become a five-weight world champion when he takes on Puerto Rican champion Cotto at the MGM Grand Hotel. Pacquiao's major titles have come in a weights ranging from 112 to 140 pounds but despite moving up to different classes he is confident he has kept his speed which will give them the advantage against Cotto. "My speed is still there. If you have speed then you generate your own power. We know that he is bigger than me and stronger than me but we studied his style for the past two months and we have our strategy," he said. "I feel stronger at this weight than I ever have. My punches are harder, my speed is intact. I keep getting warned about Cotto's body attack but Cotto should be worried about my body attack. "Cotto is the champion for this fight and he is not as easy as what people think. I don't take this fight lightly. He trained hard for this fight that is why we have to focus. Speed, power and being smart will lead to success. It's going to be a great fight between two great fighters. --Manny Pacquiao "I am prepared for anything he has to offer. I have studied all his tapes, and I feel like I know him like I know myself. "Speed, power and being smart will lead to success. It's going to be a great fight between two great fighters." Despite moving up to welterweight Pacquiao confirmed at the pre-fight press conference that he will not move any further up the weight divisions. He added: "No, no, no that is enough. It is amazing to even myself and I can't believe I can fight at 147 pounds. "I started at 105 pounds but right now my speed is still the same. My goal in my boxing career is to always keep the speed even if I move up to high weight division because if you have speed you can create your power." Pacquiao, rated by many as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, presents one of the toughest challenges of Cotto's career, but the 29-year-old is confident he can defend his title. Cotto said: "I'm prepared for the speed of Manny. My hand speed is pretty equal to Manny's. But can Manny's power equal Miguel Cotto's on Saturday night? "I know what I'm capable of doing, and there is no doubt in my mind that I'm going to win this fight." Cotto also refuted suggestions he was being underestimated by the Pacquiao camp, which has been touting the possibility of mouth-watering bout with American great Floyd Mayweather Jr next year. He added: "I'm focused on this fight. When I beat him this Saturday, he can think about whatever opponents he wants."
