  1. LOL i sent the thread to Sg Review and they posted it.... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Sg_Review/message/7474 Sg_Review Comments: Mellanie Hewlitt It has been some months since we received any news from the PAP's bogus committee that was setup in May 2011 as a front to "review" obscene ministerial salaries. The silence from Gerard Ee's committee is defening, and perhaps one difficulty poor Gerard may have is a yardstick for measuring a reasonable benchmark for ministerial salaries. In fact there are plenty of accurate yardsticks for the benchmarks available from salary scales of ministers and leaders in civilised democracies. But poor Gerard is, for some unaccountable reason, unable to use these measures. Of cause it does not help that the only other countries with "leaders" with similiar remuneration scale all just happen to be dictatorships from countries riddled with graft and nepotism. There is however some respite for poor Gerard and his bogus running dog committee as a local benchmark has been offered from Tan See Jay. Now it will be interesting to see how Mr Ee and Singapore's propaganda media attempt to side step this embarassing situtation and continue to remain willfully blind to the increasingly large white elephant squatting in the middle of their small living room. http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2667953 NightWind Yesterday, 09:41 AM Post #1 Compare this to the greed of the PAP Pig ministers on Animal Farm...good to see TJS making this point. I wonder what ever happened to that bogus committee that was set-up to review Ministerial Salaries.....they should use S$500k as the benchmark... http://www.todayonline.com/Singapore/EDC11...s-enough-for-me Tan Jee Say: S$500,000 is enough for me by Carolyn Quek carolynquek@... 04:46 AM Aug 21, 2011SINGAPORE - After laying out several pledges in his Presidential candidate broadcast speech, Mr Tan Jee Say said he would take a salary of S$500,000 if elected. The 57-year-old's campaign flyer states, among other things: "Presidential salary: $500,000 a year is plenty for anyone to live on. Anything else should go back to the people of Singapore." Asked by reporters how he had arrived at the figure, Mr Tan replied that the sum "is far above" what an average family needs. On whether it was meant to counter Mr Tan Kin Lian's campaign promise to take half of the president's salary, which is currently about S$4 million, Mr Tan Jee Say replied: "No it's not undercutting. People do ask me what is good to live on so I think this is a figure. It's a lot of money." Any amount he receives above S$500,000, if he is elected as President, would go to charity, Mr Tan Jee Say added. He was speaking to reporters during a walkabout at Geylang Serai yesterday evening. Earlier, he visted the Green Avenue Home for the Elderly and High Point Community Services at Lorong 23 Geylang. Calling ageing issues a "rising problem" for Singapore, Mr Tan Jee Say felt that issues such as raising the income ceiling for healthcare subsidies for the elderly in aged homes should be looked into. Mr Tan also told reporters he was heartened to see so many young professionals taking time out to volunteer, and said it is something he wants to promote if elected as President. Accompanying him on his visit was Ms Nicole Seah, who stood in May's General Election as a National Solidarity Party candidate. Mr Tan has approached her to be a speaker at his rally on Tuesday night at the Toa Payoh Stadium. The 24-year-old Miss Seah said that she is willing to take up the invitation, pending Mr Tan's campaign committee's decision. She added that she is helping Mr Tan in her own personal capacity.
  2. Feb 16, 2011 Three Budget wishes Relook price benchmark for first flats AS THE father of a daughter who will be entering the market for a flat with her fiance for the first time, I wonder if the issue of housing affordability can be addressed if the Housing Board changes the way it sets prices. Currently, new HDB flat prices are benchmarked against resale transaction prices. This approach worked well in the past because it was aimed at solving a simpler situation reflecting organic population growth and housing upgrading. Today, while the first-time home market segment remains as robust as it was previously, the resale market has been hammered by a demand shock from a very sizeable segment of permanent residents. Given that the resale market and first-time segments have different dynamics, and as the prime policy concern is aimed at helping first-time buyers, should we now decouple the benchmarking of new HDB flat prices from resale prices? There may be alternative ways to set prices that can strongly couple with affordability - for instance, prices can be indexed to a multiple of, say, average starting salaries, or salaries of a percentile of taxpayers in the 25 to 30 age group. I am not sure if the idea is coloured by my daughter's dilemma, but many of my friends have also confided that they were forced to fork out hefty sums to help their children buy their first flats. I cannot see how this can be sustainable for future generations when our children's children come knocking. Chiang Shao Soong Wait long long loh. Our scholar mini star's job very easy to do one. So easy O level grad oso can do. One time say no need to build any more 2 and 3 rm flats, now start builing these units again to meet demand. No foresight, just do as situation deems fit. Who can't do this? As for prices, virtually asking mini stars to take pay cut. But the truth may be they need money to support their ponzi scheme.
  3. Can someone explain the logic to me? When the benchmark rises, their pay goes up. When the benchmark decreases, shouldn't their pay drop as well? Pay adjustment deferred Reason: Private sector benchmarks used to calculate pay have fallen By Li Xueying A PLANNED adjustment of the pay of Cabinet ministers and top civil servants to align it with salaries in the private sector has been deferred - for the third time. The adjustment was to have been made in January last year, but was deferred then, and again last November, because of the weak economy. A statement from the Public Service Division (PSD) said the Government will monitor economic growth and movement of the pay benchmarks 'before making any subsequent decision on when to implement the salary adjustment'. The deferment applies to administrative service officers, and those who hold political, judicial and statutory appointments. Explaining the deferment despite a roaring economy this year, the PSD said the two private sector benchmarks it uses to decide the pay of these officers had fallen. The first benchmark - 2/3M48 - pegs pay to two-thirds of the salary of the 24th highest earner in a group comprising the top eight earners from six selected professions. This benchmark is used to determine the pay of entry-level ministers and senior permanent secretaries. The second benchmark - 15P32 - pegs pay to that of the 15th top earner aged 32 in the same six professions. It is used to decide the salaries of entry-grade Superscale administrative service officers. Read the full story in Thursday's edition of The Straits Times. [email protected]
  4. Hello, If you are approaching 30 years old and you are just in an executive position (obviously I'm not referring to chief executive) - just those type of low rank executive, when is it time to move on to another company or even to another industry if you are still not promoted to next level e.g. senior executive or even assistant manager? 30 years old still just an executive - is it normal? any benchmark? Assume you have degree qualification...
  5. How do you know your DIY shine is tip-top? Any benchmark or measurement to follow? Thank you. Regards,
  6. 100,000,000 Nissans produced Posted Jul 24th 2006 5:56PM by Alex Nunez Filed under: Time Warp, Etc., Japan, Nissan Nissan has announced that this past June marked an important milestone in the company's 73-year history: 100,000,000 vehicles built. It all started in 1933 when Nissan, under the name "Jidosha-Seizo Co., Ltd" (Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd), manufactured its first automobile, a Datsun 12 (example above). The following year, the company name was officially changed to Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. In 1935, the Yokohama Plant became the first facility in Japan to mass-produce automobiles. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, Nissan produces cars and trucks in facilities worldwide, and aims to continue improving quality and productivity as it sets its sights on future milestones. 100,000,000 is a lot of cars. Many of them were and are basic transportation devices used by the masses. Some of them have become icons in their own right, and today there are future stars on the horizon, demonstrating that as fun as it can be to reflect on the past, Nissan continues to look forward. Congratulations are in order. http://www.autoblog.com/2006/07/24/100-000...ssans-produced/
