Are they Ironmen or Wonderwomen? They spend so much time on the road, wouldn't they require seat belts more than any one of us. Apparently, their employers did not provide them with seat belts. Or was it any law that says, bus drivers no need seat belts because their seating area is safer than the Lunar Capsule, or what ever.

Hi all, I don't think we have had such discussion before - couldn't find this. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with using the above 3 different brands of drive belts? I believe Mitsuboshi is quite commonly found in most parts shops followed by Bando and then Contitech (esp for Euro cars). In my own experience, it seems Contitech belts seems to be less durable. ie cracks seen after 20k use. Not sure if it's because it's a Euro brand and the materials used is not tropicalised? (just like the case for wipers?). Unfortunately some sizes are only available for Contitech. I believe Bando and Mitsuboshi are similar priced and have similar sizes targeted for Japanese vehicles. But is there any known comparison between these 2 brands? I know price wise between these 3 brands, surprisingly Contitech is also the cheapest even though it's a euro brand. Not sure if it's because it's made in some dodgy places with low quality? Anyone with any input? It's apparently hard to find such comparison online.....

HI Besides seating a child on child seat or booster seat, one can also use an approved adjustable seat beat. Anyone knows what kind of seat beat adjuster is approved? Can't seems to find it on TP website.

Hi bros, anyone got effective solution for this problem. belt adjustment is fine. only problem it squeaks when first started when cold-idling. sound disappears when engine is warmed up or while driving. very certain its from the belt cos as i dripped some water on it the sound disappeared for a while. is there any type of grease/fluid for belts? and where can i get it? Thks!

Hi, I know that buses are required to fit 3-point seat belts as required by LTA. My 8-seater MPV does not come with the package with 3-point seat belts in the centre seats for 2nd and 3rd rows. Only 2-point. Anyone knows where I can install the 3-point seat belt with retractor from inside/behind the seat (not from ceiling)?

Bro & Sis, need advices. This morning, start car (Altis Yr'05), immediately got those rolling sound from the Felt belt near alternator area.. but when accelarate more than 2k RPM, sound gone... no Acceleration or or idling.rolling sound back.. very clear inside car cabin..but outside not so obvious.. just change fan belt few mths back.. now Mileage ard 107k..just done Major svc together chnging Fan belt. appreciate if Bro & sis experiences this kind of problem, pls advice what has happened

Hi guys !!!! My Edix is reaching 80,000 km soon. I feel its time to change the BELTS and i need recommendation of workshops thats good and not overpriced. Currently doing my normal servicing at Comfort Delgro. Any good places for me to check out for my EDIX, 1.7 ??? What prices am I looking at ??? Cheers

my swift back seats currently got no seat belts at all. when i bought it already no belts. so is it illegal??? is it compulsory tat i install seat belts behind??? if it is, how much will it cost n where to do it?

Hi guys, lately there's this thing on seat belts... for me, when i was a kid, my parents car didnt have a seat belt in the rear seat. then when i sat in my relatives car, it was always so fun for me to belt up, cos for me, it feels so " secured", like something holding you. now, i always belt up when i drive. and i make sure my passengers do. which can lead to arguements at times cos they'll be like " WONT GET CAUGHT LAH". cos i don like to say " bad things", so just say " hey, better belt up, later police catch we all kena".. but in reality, *touch wood*, i noe it it will save a life. what really pisses me off is that, i knew a girl, b4 i met her, she didnt like to belt up. when i met her and she rode with me, i made sure she belted up, and it became a habit for her. then later on when she went to ride in her friend's car, they laughed and jeered at her when she belted up.. like " wahh, now so kiasu ah". these pple are bloody childish to me.. anyway, what are your opinions? Myths About Seat Belts MYTH: If I wear a seat belt, I could be trapped in a car during a crash. Not wearing a seat belt could save my life! FACT: Some people mistakenly think that being thrown clear of the car is their best chance for survival. Ejected occupants in motor vehicle crashes are four times more likely to be killed than those who remain inside. If you're thrown from the car, you could skid across the pavement, be dragged along with the car, be pinned or crushed by your own car or another vehicle, or be tossed into incoming traffic. MYTH: My car has an airbag -- I don't need to wear my seat belt. FACT: People who have airbags might think they don't need safety belts, but they do. Airbags and lap/shoulder belts work together as a system, and one without the other isn't as effective. Crash-related deaths in vehicles with airbags are 12 percent lower among drivers with belts and 9 percent lower among belted passengers. Hi Guys, Saw this article today. cheers LONDON (Reuters) - Over 125,000 motorists and passengers in Britain could be being injured in accidents each year purely because they have not adjusted their head restraints properly, a study has found. The study by insurance researchers Thatcham, argues that although 80 percent of head restraints in new European vehicles have received good or acceptable safety ratings, many motorists are failing to use them in the correct way. Around 250,000 UK motorists suffer whiplash injuries every year, of which around 10 percent lead to permanent disability. Matthew Avery, Thatcham's Crash Lab Manager said of the findings: "the head restraint should be seen as every bit as important as the seat belt". The survey of 1,400 motorists blamed the number of injuries on a lack of public understanding on how to use head restraints properly. The restraint should be touching the back of the head so that the body absorbs the force of an impact as a single unit rather than bending back at the neck. The survey also found that only 25 percent of men and 43 percent of women used their head restraint properly. "These figures are shocking," said Avery. "If people are made aware of the risks they are running, they would take a few seconds to adjust their restraint whenever they get into a vehicle." The study said Thatcham crash dummy testing showed a dramatic improvement in the quality of protection offered by manufacturers this year. Does changing the timing belt and whatever other belts that is neccessary, affects the aircon? My aircon like not very strong after belt change, or is it recently weather really too hot liao?

Hi Brothers, Sisters, I seek your advise on the Hyundai Matrix fan belts. I went for my servicing yesterday at my mechanic's place and he told me that the air-con fan belts are wearing off. Called Komoco and they charged me about S$120.00 for 3 belts excl 5%GST. My doubt is, is it a must to change all 3 belts and or just the Air-con belt? To change in Komoco or at my own mechanic side would be cheaper? Thanks & rds,

I was looking through my engine bay the other day, going over part by part very carefully when I found that there was a tear on the auxillary belt. Unless my pulleys got teeth to chew on the belt, I don't think this kind of failure should surface when the car" STYLE="text-decoration: none; border-bottom: medium solid green;" HREF="http://search.targetwords.com/u.search?x=5977|1||||cars|AA1VDw">car is so new. My guess is that it was a QC problem. I suggest that you guys get a torchlight and start looking over your belt very carefully.

My friend sprayed WD40 on his car's belts (alternator belt, aircon belt etc) and says it's good for the car as it keep the belt from being brittle or something. Any comments about this? Personally i thought WD40 is flammable and with the belt going at high speed can the WD40 withstand the heat and not combust? Or another train of thought with the added lubrication to the belts will it not cause the belt to not run as smoothly as before as friction is needed in turning the wheels (dunno the right term) attached to the belt. Anyone care to share his/her thoughts?
