  1. Toyota will begin reproducing parts for the MkIII A70 and MkVI A80 Supra Sources: https://www.autoblog.com/2019/05/22/toyota-a70-a80-supra-parts-reproduction/ Toyota didn't specify which parts, but this is an exciting development It seems the Japanese sports car wars are heating up once again, after nearly a 20-year hiatus, particularly with Toyota reviving the Supra. Not too long ago, Nissan's Nismo performance and heritage department recently revealed its efforts to reproduce classic parts for some of its vintage Skyline models. Now, it seems Toyota is following suit as Japanese Nostalgic Car reports that Toyota will soon start remaking parts for its MkIII A70 and MkIV A80 Supra at the Japanese launch of the current model last week. Word came from head of Gazoo Racing, Shigeki Tomoyama, one of the developmental partners to the new Supra revival. Tomoyama announced the "GR Heritage Parts Project" at the event, which took place at Toyota's Megaweb showroom in Odaiba. "We can not answer about specific parts at this time, but we will make every effort to meet the expectations of owners," Tomoyama told the press during his presentation. The launch of the GR Heritage Parts Project adds Toyota to the list of manufacturers rebooting the production of parts for heritage models, which already included Nissan, Mazda, and Honda. Nissan scored highly among Japanese sports car enthusiasts and tuners when it announced it would be reproducing parts for its R32 Skyline GT-R. More recently, the list of reproductions expanded to the R33 and R34 generation models. In the mix was the remanufacturing of its RB26 straight-six motor from the famed GT-R. While not a complete motor, the remake is essentially the short block. Prior, Nissan also announced other engine parts, such as the head, the original engine harness, and also the fuel pump assembly. The list of parts reproductions also includes various body parts and other hard-to-get items, putting some relief to those currently building or restoring vintage models. Tomoyama's announcement wasn't specific as to which parts will be seeing reproduction. However, if they do end up getting around to remanufacturing parts for Toyota's equally legendary 1JZ and 2JZ motors, fans are certainly going to be drooling. "The new Supra is a great car," Tomoyama further commented, "But I don't intend to let go of this A80 Supra in my lifetime."

  7. Singapore Home > Breaking News > Singapore > Story Jun 29, 2011 Unemployed man in New York 'attacks' Singapore A man has been seen in New York City's Time Square holding up a sign attacking Singapore and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. -- PHOTO: STOMP A MAN has been seen in New York City's Time Square holding up a sign attacking Singapore and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Some commuters who spotted this in have sent in emails and pictures of the man to Stomp, the popular Singapore citizen journalism website. They say that he has been doing it for some weeks now. One of them, identified only as Edwin, said that the man had apparently lost his job in Singapore, is unhappy, and had decided to try and paint a bad impression of Singapore to tourists at the famous Times Square. Another reader of Stomp - JJLim - said he saw the man while on holiday in New York City. He said: 'My wife and I were on holiday in New York when we saw this strange guy near Times Square, New York. Holding a self-written cardboard, he displayed unfounded accusations at our Prime Minister and our nation.' The story on Stomp attracted the ire of readers who have expressed their displeasure on the website. Readers have commented on Stomp that the man is a 'clown' and a 'loser'.
  8. http://umrresearch.com.au/doc/Singapore_Pr...May11_Final.pdf Short version - The gahmen had commissioned a pre-election study to gauge voter sentiment just before the GE. The study was carried out by an Australian private survey company. Results? 61% for P*P, 39% for Oppo (with a margin of error of +/-3.6% at 90% Confidence). Uncanny how they knew the results pretty much dead-on before any of us crossed a single voting slip, isn't it? To me the most interesting thing is the graphic on page 10 ("How voters feel about the parties"), showing that the WP essentially has the same "positive" rating (55%) as the P*P, but less "negative" rating. In other words, the WP was actually viewed as a *better* party on balance than the P*P. Well, well, well. If WP does very well in this term, there's some real hope for the next GE. But I think the best candidates from the other parties need to unite under the Hammer to stand a really good chance.

  10. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin.../297164/1/.html Works begin for Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix By Vimita Mohandas, channelnewsasia.com | Posted: 31 August 2007 1813 hrs SINGAPORE: Work has started at the Marina Bayfront for the F1 Singapore Grand Prix as officials await a decision next month by the international governing body for motorsports,FIA,on whether Singapore will proceed with a night or day race. In nine months, what's now a muddy patch of land at the Marina Promenade will be transformed into a sleek Pit Building for the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. Trade and Industry Minister Mr Lim Hng Kiang, who graced Friday's groundbreaking said the event marks an important milestone. He noted that although the F1 Singapore Grand Prix is set to flag off in a year's time, the infrastructure will have to be up in about nine months. "But Singapore is a City of Possibilities, so I have full confidence we will be ready for the 28 September race date." According to Mr Lim Neo Chian, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive of the Singapore Tourism Board, the Pit Building will be completed by the end of May next year, which is a construction industry record. The Pit Building, a key element in the infrastructure of the F1 Singapore Grand Prix, will house the race control facilities, team garages, hospitality lounges for about 4,000 guests, a Media Centre and other facilities. Located along the waterfront at a new stretch of road off Republic Boulevard, the estimated S$33 million, three-storey Pit Building will measure some 350 metres long. The structure has been designed to be simple yet modern, and also environmentally sustainable. Taking up most of the ground floor is space for 36 garages for the 12 race teams. The Media Centre, hospitality lounges, race control centre and the winners

Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10...y-road-tax.html By Sophie Borland Last updated at 12:50 PM on 18th August 2008 Pay-as-you-drive road taxes moved a step closer last night after the Government confirmed it was launching the first ever trials of the scheme. As part of several pilots taking place across Britain, cars will be fitted with black boxes on their dashboard which can be tracked by satellites allowing their exact movements to be monitored The Department of Transport said it is currently appointing companies to carry out these schemes. Members of the public will be invited to take part in the trials which are likely to occur some time between now and 2010. It is believed that the pilots will take place in about ten different parts of the country. A Department of Transport spokesman said no areas had been agreed yet by the companies charged to carry out the scheme. In most cases, the trials will involve a satellite tracking a vehicle's movements and motorists will then receive a monthly or weekly bill which will vary depending on when and where they drove. Up too 100 drivers in each area will voluntarily test the black box technology which will allow their movements to be tracked. New Labour has vacillated over starting a road pricing scheme which could see some drivers pay up to
