Bought the Anova precision cooker during Black Friday for lazy woman steaks. Was only USD$99 + $20+ shipping, arrived over the weekend. Ordered from their American site but it was shipped from Hong Kong though. It has a Singapore compatible plug. Faster ran to Foodie Market at Katong to buy me some meat! 1.5inch ribeye (sorry didn't notice pic blur when I took it) 3/4 inch A4 wagyu Started with the ribeye first. A sea salt and fresh ground pepper rub. Let it sit for awhile and added rosemary and thyme. Into the bag (provided with the machine) with a clove of garlic. Throw into the pot and just wait! Bonus pic: "Mama, you cooking? Will I get some? I am a good boy!" 2 hours later.... success!

Wagyu beef cuts at Huber's Butchery in Dempsey Road. Wagyu ribeye steaks can be bought at FairPrice Finest outlets and Western food chain Astons' coffee shop stalls. At the FairPrice Finest in Hougang, wagyu ribeye and striploin are sold at $118 and $93.80 per kg respectively. Singapore's appetite for wagyu beef is growing and the reach of the premium bovine has extended beyond expensive restaurants. Heartland supermarkets and even coffee shop stalls here are serving the rich marbled flesh, with consumers increasingly willing to pay for it. "Singaporeans are known to be foodies and have sophisticated taste buds. They want to try out different kinds of meat," said Mr Thomas Ng, 53, meat supplier Indoguna's director of sales. Wagyu ribeye steaks, for instance, can be found at FairPrice Finest outlets and Western food chain Astons' coffee shop stalls. The news has been going around for quite a few weeks, looks like quite a few countries are affected. Literally, hanging cow's head but sell horse meat. Do you mind if the beef you bought contains horse meat?

And you thought you have heard or seen it all... From CNA: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1235760/1/.html Meat supplier fined for passing off beef as mutton Posted: 07 November 2012 1328 hrs SINGAPORE: A meat supplier has been fined S$4,000 for passing off beef as mutton in its minced and chopped meat product. Basha Meat Supplier Pte Ltd was investigated by the National Environment Agency (NEA) and the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) following public feedback. The two agencies had tested the DNA of various samples of minced and chopped meat sold by Basha Meat Supplier as mutton. Beef was found in the samples. The supplier was brought to court November 6 where it was fined by the court under the Sale of Food Act. NEA said before the court's decision, it had been monitoring Basha's products, and subsequent samples did not uncover any beef in meat sold as mutton. In a media statement, NEA said on October 9 a similar deterrent sentence was passed to another meat supplier - Nabisha Mutton Supplier. NEA and AVA had tested the DNA of various samples of minced and chopped meat sold by Nabisha Mutton Supplier as mutton. Beef was found in the samples. The court fined Nabisha S$5,000, which is the maximum penalty for the first offence under the Sale of Food Act. NEA said the AVA is reviewing the maximum penalties specified under the Sale of Food Act to serve as a greater deterrent to offenders. This is part of its current review of the Act to look at other measures to enhance food safety. - CNA/fa

Before you order a 1 kg beef steak next time, think twice. You could be polluting the environment more than driving to the steakhouse. The Dutch and Austrian scientists have used science to access the impact of beef consumption on the environment and have come up with some quantifiable figures. For instance, in Brazil, an average 335 kg of carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere for every kg of beef produced. To put things into perspective, that is equal to driving an Audi A7 3.0 TDI, which is giving out CO2 at a rate of 152g/km, for 2203km! On the other hand, eating beef produced in the Netherlands is less sinful. It equates to 22kg of CO2 produced for every kg of meat. The method used by the scientists is called

There was a old style kopi shop near the JB custom for lorry where the beef noodles is very famous. It is run by a old couple. MYR 7 per bowl. There is also a Duck noodle stall too. It seems both these stalls are no longer in the old kopi shop. Anyone knows where they have shifted to?

Tried to find them in NTUC, Giant, Sheng Siong, Cold Storage & even shop in Chinatown but to no avail. Anywhere else I can find ? Thanks, Lee
