  1. Seremban Boy Keeps Losing in Video Game So His Dad Broke His Competitor’s Spine On January 11, a misunderstanding over a video game ended with a teenage gamer being hospitalised with broken bones. The incident happened at around 10pm at an electronic game store in Palm Mall, Seremban. Sin Chew Daily reported that the teenage victim had been playing a competitive video game against another boy. After beating the boy several times, the boy’s father approached the victim and offered him RM2 to intentionally lose and let the boy win. However, the bribe didn’t work and the teenager soon seized another victory, beating the boy once more. The father was angered and became violent, throwing a chair at the victim. He kicked the teenager several times, rallying up around four other men to come and assist the assault. A video of the event posted on Twitter showed them surrounding the visibly terrified teenager, yelling at him as passersby watched helplessly. At one point in time, a man even kicked the teenager in the head as he cowered on the floor. The assault was brutal, and the boy ended up being hospitalised as he suffered severe injuries. With bruises across his body, punctured lungs, broken ribs, and a shattered spine, the victim is currently in the ICU of Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital. Source: Sin Chew Daily Four suspects have since been arrested, as reported by The Sun. All four suspects have been in remand until today (15 Jan), said Seremban district police chief Asst Comm Thiew Hock Poh. Their case is currently being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting. Source: Sin Chew Daily The police are currently searching for the whereabouts of a witness, S. Munisvaran, 37, to assist in the investigation. They have advised members of the public with information on the witness and the incident to call the investigating officer, Mohammad Najeeb Mohammed Shukri at 06-6033284. What a terrible tragedy! And over such a minor issue. Violence is never the answer and we wish the victim a complete recovery.

  8. Saw it here http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/eat-drin...ml#post70533668 PRC again. Child abuse again. AsiaOne Monday, Oct 08, 2012 GUANGZHOU, CHINA - A video clip showing a young girl being flung and kicked by a teaching assistant at a children's rehabilitation centre in Guangzhou, China has sparked outrage and sympathy among netizens. The clip was first uploaded and shared by local Chinese media in Sep this year, and shows four-year-old Qiu Yaoyao (not her real name), who is reportedly autistic, being abused by the older woman after the little girl did not cooperate during a daily exercise routine. The woman is identified as a 30-year-old staff member of the centre, which is a day care centre that takes in autistic and disabled children to teach them life skills and independent living. In the clip, she cen be seen holding up Yaoyao by her hands and instructing her to stand. But when the little girl does not obey instructions, she forcefully throws Yaoyao onto the floor behind her. The woman then proceeds to kick at the unresponsive little girl as she lays on the floor. All this while, other staff can be seen in the footage, but they do not interfere. But as Yaoyao continues to lie on the floor, the woman picks her up again - this time, by her ankles - and throws her over in a 360 degree flip. After realising that Yaoyao is unconscious, the woman asks her colleagues for help, and they bring the little girl to the hospital for emergency treatment. A Guangzhou newspaper reported last week the little girl has since undergone neurosurgery, and is able to sit, but she cannot stand yet. Her speech is also impaired. Yaoyao's father, who was interviewed, told media that he was informed that his daughter was hospitalised after an accident, but the rehabilitation centre's staff did not tell him that she was beaten. But he became suspicious due to the serious nature of her injuries, and asked to view footage of his daughter at the centre. The accident then came to light, and he made a police report. Local media further reported that the teaching assistant has since been charged with assault and battery, and has offered to make payment 200,000 yuan to the family for the girl's medical expenses. Separately, the rehabilitation centre also offered monetary compensation to help pay for Yaoyao's medical treatment of more than 800,000 yuan. The YouTube video has been viewed more than 80,000 times and garnered comments attacking the staff's barbaric treatment of a vulnerable victim. The incident has generated tens of thousands of comments from the online Chinese community, with even celebrities and writers condemning such barbaric acts that occur in China's education system, especially towards disabled children who are particularly vulnerable. The video clip has also been highlighted in international media, and brings into focus how autism is still largely underestimated by Chinese doctors.

It is the first time that an airport has won the award six years in a row. Dubai Airport won the award for three consecutive years from 2001 to 2003. 14. "My Italian car can beat up your Italian car" is likely the next bumper sticker for one Italian man... after he gets out of jail. According to the Daily Mail, a 32-year old Ferrari 458 Italia driver is in trouble after coming down with a serious bout of road rage. A Fiat 600 would not get out of his way on the roads near Rome, so he did what any insane person would do, and decided to ram the hapless Fiat repeatedly. Once the Fiat pulled over, the unnamed Ferrari driver switched from car fighting to fist fighting and began pummeling the other driver. He wasn't alone, either, as a passenger in the Ferrari aided in the fisticuffs. A passing off-duty cop stopped to break things up and backup arrived to haul the two Ferrari fighters off to jail. After searching the car, police found over $30,000 in cash and are attempting to figure out where it came from. According to the report, neither man is a stranger to the police and they're both in custody for assault, criminal damage and resisting arrest. [source: Daily Mail]

  18. Monday September 8, 2008 Table Tennis: Tianwei serves up a stunner By LIM TEIK HUAT KUALA LUMPUR: Singapore's Feng Tianwei (pic) shocked the Chinese camp when she bundled out reigning world champion Guo Yue to advance to the semi-finals of the Volkswagen World Cup women's table tennis tournament at the Kuala Lumpur Badminton Stadium last night. The 22-year-old put up an impressive attacking display to beat the Beijing Olympics bronze medallist and world number two 11-9, 11-6, 7-11, 11-6, 11-9 in 43 minutes to earn her first World Cup semi-finals appearance. Top seeded Guo Yue, spearheading the Chinese challenge in the absence of injured Olympic champion Zhang Yining, had cruised into the quarter-finals as the Group A winner. She beat Yang Fen of Congo 11-3, 11-5, 12-10, 11-3 for her third consecutive win. Tianwei had qualified second from Group B behind world number three Li Xiaoxia of China after beating Li Jiao of Holland 13-11, 5-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-5 in her final group match earlier. But it was Tianwei who turned the tables on Guo Yue for the first time in four meetings. China-born Tianwei is ranked ninth in the world and was given Singapore citizenship in January in time to help her adopted country bag a silver in the Olympics team event last month. Guo Yue's exit meant that it would only be the second time that the final will not be an all-China affair. Tianwei will play against world No. 10 Tie Yana of Hong Kong today for a place in the final. Yana, also a former China national player, earned her place in the semi-finals with a hard-fought 11-8, 7-11, 11-7, 11-13, 11-8, 17-19, 11-7 win over South Korea's Kim Kyung-ah. The other semi-final will be between another Singaporean, Wang Yue Gue, and Xiaoxia. The spiky-haired Tianwei now has a shot at collecting the winner's cheque of US$44,000 if she maintains her fine form but she never expected her fortune.

  20. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/041220...n-age-row.html I mean they were the only team left to beat. the rest 8 all got disqualified. Eight teams expelled in Asian age row Tue 04 Dec, 07:45 AM Singapore defeated Kuwait by six wickets to win the ACC Under-15 Elite Cup in Bhaktapur, Nepal. It was, however, a slightly hollow victory, as eight of the ten competing sides had earlier been disqualified for fielding over-age players, and so Singapore and Kuwait contested the final as they were the only teams remaining in the competition. The Asian Cricket Council had taken drastic action on Saturday and kicked out hosts and defending champions Nepal as well as Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Thailand after its medical board reported that all the squads from those countries contained players over the stipulated age limit. Sunday's semi-finals - Nepal v Singapore and Afghanistan v Hong Kong - were scrapped. "In instances where more than two players in each 14-man squad have been found to be over-aged, the teams have been disqualified from the competition," an ACC media spokesman explained. He added that some teams contained as many as nine over-age players. "One hundred and forty radiology examinations have been conducted in Nepal since the team's arrival with all the players from the ten participating teams," he added. Ashraful Haq, the ACC's chief executive, met team managers to explain the decision. "Our age-verification protocols have been tested and proven to work," he said. "We stand by the results found. In the long-run, cricket in Asia will benefit. Results such as this should act an eye-opener to all our members." The tournament had already got off to a bad start when UAE were sent home as their squad did not contain any UAE passport-holders. An ACC spokesman explained that age verification was not easy in some areas. "All countries were asked to provide the appropriate medical data on each of their players before the tournament started. They did not comply."
  21. Hu guys, from BT: Sales of Honda MPV in first 6 months hit 1,926, against the Toyota MPV's 1,866 THE Honda Stream has shot past the hitherto best-selling Toyota Wish to become the top parallel import model, as grey importers hit a record high by half-time compared to the same period last year. In the first six months, the compact seven-seat MPV model from Honda whizzed past the perennial favourite from Toyota with sales of 1,926 units versus 1,866. The Wish has been the top grey import model here since it appeared in early 2003. Overall, the Toyota brand still remained the favourite parallel import (PI), chalking up a total of 5,534 units or 47.9 per cent of total PI sales of 11,565 from January to June 2007, according to figures from the Land Transport Authority. As usual, the Honda brand continued to be the runner-up, accounting for a combined 4,601 units or 39.8 per cent of all PI cars in the first half. Together, Toyota and Honda account for almost nine out of every 10 parallel imports so far this year. By all accounts, the PI industry is headed for another bumper year. The first six months of 2006 saw sales of 7,341 units, but at 11,565 units, the corresponding period this year is already 57.5 per cent higher than last year, and is fast closing in on 2006's total of 16,137 PI units. Equally ominous is the proportion of PI cars registered against those sold by authorised distributors, represented here by the members of the Motor Traders Association of Singapore (MTA). Last year, there was one PI car for every six authorised versions. For the first half of 2007, it was 1-in-4. Already, some distributors are feeling the heat, and they are not merely confined to those that compete head-to-head with parallel importers who sell the same brand. Apart from Toyota, Honda and Suzuki (the third most popular PI brand at a distant 842 units), other marques which are being hit include the Korean and mass market European brands. Lower PI pricing is eating into Hyundai's market, for example. Together with the PI models' higher brand equity, they become more attractive than those from Korea. The competition is having significant effects too. In the first six months, Hyundai's volume fell to 3,643 units, excluding 1,194 taxis, or almost 37 per cent down from the same period a year ago. Among MTA members, its ranking also fell from No4 to No5. Some authorised distributors allege that parallel importers' lower prices are due to under-declaration of cost, insurance and freight (CIF). As lower CIF translates into lower OMV or open market value, this means that the parallel importers have a strong price advantage compared with authorised dealers. At least one distributor is fighting back. Since the domestic Stream model was introduced here last September, authorised distributor Kah Motor has decided to homologate an export version of the car which is now available here with the required technical specifications. However, the Honda Airwave (903 units) is still not available here. Neither are the Wish and Runx (743 units) from Borneo Motors Singapore. Strangely though, the third most popular PI model - after the Stream and Wish - is the Honda Fit. This Japanese domestic model found 952 buyers in the first half, even though it is an ageing model that can be bought as the Honda Jazz from Kah Motor. Pricing could be one reason, while consumer indifference could be another. A similar example is the Toyota Estima, which can be found at Borneo Motors as the Previa; and the Suzuki Swift Sport, a 1.6-litre model which is available at Champion Motors. The Estima racked up 488 units while the Swift 1.6 found 190 buyers.
