  2. Wow!! I just checked a few websites (honda, toyota, kia) on their models, almost none are offering manual transmission?!? I understand that most people will go for the auto, but definitely there'll be some go for manual one. I mean how difficult it is to have an option for manual? Just blardy import the car in as like an auto?? Are there more paperwork?? Mechanic dunno how to service a manual ride?? The factory no longer producing manual transmission?? It's not like they stock up manual vehicles in their showroom and not able to sell (they order then ship in usually). So why they don't even offer it anymore still buffles me. If BMW, Audi, VW, Merc were to offer manual transmission, i'm pretty sure there will be orders for them too. Anyone wanna shed some light??
  3. Resale Value? Does it really mean resale Value higher? Some AD make 70% while most make 20%-30% premium.
  4. PM Lee and PM Najib open Agrobazaar outlet in Singapore SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong says the friendship between Singapore and Malaysia needs to be continually nurtured and tended to. Speaking at the opening of the Agrobazaar Malaysia outlet on Wednesday (Aug 27), Mr Lee said this will ensure that success will blossom along the way. The outlet, located in Sultan Gate off Beach Road, is an agricultural-based business that promotes Malaysian fruit and products to the overseas market. Mr Lee said the Agrobazaar is one example of what cooperation between Singapore and Malaysia can deliver, as both countries move their ties forward. He also said the Agrobazaar is "something more than food" and reflects the close economic ties between the two countries, as well as their shared culture and long friendship. Mr Lee also said he looks forward to deeper interactions between the people of Singapore and Malaysia in the coming years. The building of the Rapid Transit System (RTS) link between Johor Bahru and Singapore, as well as the high-speed rail between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, are expected to improve the flow of goods and people across borders. However, Mr Lee said that with such close interactions between the two countries, issues can be expected to arise from time to time. "But I believe if we keep the lines of communication open, not just between the leaders, but also between ministers and senior officials and their counterparts, then we can manage anything which comes along, and this is the way to maintain and enhance mutual understanding, trust and respect, and continue to make progress on existing as well as new areas of cooperation," Mr Lee said. Prime Minister Najib Razak also said the the Agrobazaar is a testament to the strong and enduring relationship between Singapore and Malaysia. He explained that the Agrobazaar is a launch pad for Malaysian producers to access new international markets. "Yes, we have historic cities; yes, we have idyllic beaches and of course, we have the twin towers, but our rambutan and mangosteen, and above all - durian, really pull in the crowds," he said. Mr Najib also presented Prime Minister Lee with a basket of musang king durians and an oil painting of them enjoying the fruit during Mr Lee's recent visit to Malaysia. A fifth of Malaysia's agrofood products, worth more than US$1 billion, is exported to Singapore annually. Mr Najib is confident that the numbers will grow, based on the good cooperation at the Agrobazaar. During Mr Najib's visit in Singapore, he also took the opportunity to see the Singapore Sports Hub - one of the country's newest developments. Mr Najib posted a photo on Facebook, saying "Malaysia and Singapore have always enjoyed a healthy competitive spirit when it comes to football and we just couldn't resist kicking a ball around".
  5. From Andrew Kok-Kin Lim Jul 16 I refer to the letter "Can HDB step up enforcement?" (July 13). The Housing and Development Board would have the means if it lists all authorised sublet flats in a public database online. A S$500 reward should be given to anyone who reports unauthorised subletting, to be paid by the offender. The HDB should also increase the penalty for first-time offenders to the equivalent of six months of rent. If it cannot do this, it can outsource the job. This was first posted as a comment at www.todayonline.com/voices Quote from today online, so what do you guys think?
  6. If you buy your car from PI, do you service the car at their authorised workshop just to make sure your warranty is honoured?
  7. Happy New Year to the bros here! May 2009 be a better year for everyone! 2008 was a testing time for me as with the recent economical downturn and had to search to do some other businesses besides what I did before (that is why have been away from the forum for sometime.) But still driving the same power booster Skoda Superb. Recently my company, we became an Authorized Dealer for Garmin range of GPS products, warranty is covered by Garmin factory, unlike the PI models when there is a warranty issue the person is charged SG$120 for repairs. I have the complete range if you are looking for a unit. Hope you can support, well wishes to the family! Thanks for reading, Shane
  8. Hi All, Who is the authorised Distributor / Dealer / Reseller / Agent or Installer for Viper Alarm and CrimeStopper in Singapore? I had a bad experience with a so called dealer for Viper and recommended installer. The installers had no freaking idea how to install and connect the Viper 2-way alarm with remote start. He kept having to call someone and kept getting it wrong. Had to visit the place multiple times wasting a few days of my precious life. Finally just accepted the fact that they cannot, not within their capacity to fully install the alarm system. Now I need another alarm system for my new car, and thus the hunting begins again. Thanks.
  9. Hi All New to this site but find your threads interesting. Maybe you guys can help to advise. Intend to buy either a Toyota IST or the Honda Jazz, although my wife and I like the IST more but are afraid that parallel importer cannot meet expectations. Of course like my wife said "cannot expect too much if you want to pay so little" *sign* So thus anyone have any experiences with parallel importer either good or bad are welcome. Please advise. Thanks
  10. My friend's 1990 German made continental car could not start yesterday morning. When he got it towed to the authorised distributor's workshop, he was told that he had to leave his car there and wait at least 2 weeks for the spare parts to arrive from Germany What is the point of paying a premium to purchase from an authorised distributor then?
  11. Was speaking to a friend's friend who works at the workshop of the authorised distributor for a certain Korean marque (K**) in Singapore, whose 1086cc compact hatch has been selling like hot cakes since it was launched in mid 2004. He admitted that for normal servicing, they seldom check all items listed on the checklist. They simply tick everything without bothering to check at all. What they do is just change the engine oil, spark plugs, oil filter, that's all. Otherwise, "How can we service so many cars in one fay?" If so, what is the purpose of sending our car back to the authorised distributor for servicing and yet be a sucker to be charged a premium for sub standard service?
  12. Guys, I went to test drive the Latio. Despite the looks of the car, it drives very well, better than mazda and toyota. But the sales person leaves much to be desired. Damn ah beng and attitude and said if i came back tom, he will take back the freebies. So far, 4speed auto, free solar film, free mat(not 3M), fee one additional Ikey. 53.8k, its dynamic series. The authorised dealer giving me same freebies and some cash discounts. BTW, which colour do you guys think its nice? Black with beige seats? And where to find a beige armrest in the aftermarket?
  13. I dunno if this is an isolated case but i dont think so....recently i had a problem with my car, jerky at the start and misfiring now and then. My car had clocked some mileage but a few clicks out of warranty so i send in my car to the AUTHORISED service centre as i believed they knew best... So the story goes... i brought the car in at about 10 am.....and waited till 6pm to get the car...called in a few times whilst wating and they said they are still troubleshooting and checking ...no problem i waited...so when it's time to collect i went and was told that the sensor was dirty due to filter ....and they have cleaned it and it's FOC ..so i was happy that things got solved and it's FOC .......till a week later the CEL came on again with even worse misfiring....i was pissed and tried to drive the coughing car to a nearby Shell station where i was greeted by a OLD OLD AH PEK ....first look i was skeptical and trying to Hokkienise my english description of what had happened ...and he took a look at my engine bay ....and started plugging out all my spark plug cable and tested ...one by one ...and within 12 mins he told me that my plug cables are damaged and worn... so he replaced it and within 30 mins DONE ...from then on my CEL never came on EVER ....So as i see it... AH PEK vs SERVICE CENTRE = 1-0
