  3. Hi, need some advice here. My father in law saw a doctor at TTSH recently and doctor suspected he has a tumour. Doc arranged for a biopsy in Sep. My wife didn't accompany him to the doc so she doesn't know what exactly the doctor said. She called the hospital but they said they can't reveal patient's info. So now my wife wants to know how serious this is and isn't comfortable waiting for another 2 months for a biopsy. What options does she have? How can she get more information from the TTSH doc? If go to private, will it be very fast to do a biopsy? What private clinics can she go? Mount E or Raffles medical all seem very expensive.
  4. Over the weekend, Asiaone ran this article VW to open new service centre in MacPherson, where it also stated the following tidbits:"A Volkswagen Centre Singapore spokesman said that currently 90 cars are serviced a day. 'This will rise to 120 and later 180 with the new facility,' he said, adding that for standard service bookings, customers now wait for up to seven days but VW will bring this down to three days.... ...But according to some VW owners, the waiting time now is between one and two months... ...The VW spokesman said that the waiting period could be even longer if there were other issues that the customer wanted VW to look into. 'For standard servicing, it is within seven days,' he said." And that is bullcrap! I don't think I had a 7 day service wait in the past 2 years. I've driven my car to 95,000km, and with a 15K service interval, that's 6 servicing in the past 4 years, which is fortunately not too often (compared with my previous Japanese cars' 10k service intervals). Go ask any friend who owns a VW and I'm sure they'll tell the same story... 1 month is already lucky. Call today (+65 6305 7299) and the service assistant will politely inform you that the earliest she can slot you in is in April! And a standard servicing for 60k might take 2 days! And the numbers are telling. 13,000 VWs need at least 1.5 service appointments a year each = 20,000 appointments a year. Add the expected 3000 cars they will probably sell this year (16,000 cars, 24,000 appointments) and you know that they do not have the capacity to handle servicing, much less repairs and other car-related work. (In the article, they stated that they can only do about 90 cars a day, and that I presume is including repairs...) As a previously satisfied VW owner, I can only give a word of advice to prospective VW buyers... DON'T BUY VW!
  5. Published on Mar 26, 2012 Ministers and other political appointment holders will be paid a National Bonus this month equivalent to 1.6 months of their pay. The National Bonus is a new bonus that provides a direct link between the salaries of political appointment holders and the socio-economic progress of average and lower-income Singapore citizens and the growth of Singapore. It came about after Parliament endorsed the White Paper on 'Salaries for a Capable and Committed Government' in January this year. Based on the approved formula, the 2011 National Bonus is 2.625 months but since the new salaries took effect on May 21 last year, the pro-rated amount will be 1.618 months, to be paid in March 2012, the Public Service Division (PSD) said in a statement on Monday.
  6. Personally i dont see the appointment is wrong based on what i know. Quote Wife of Defence Minister is new SingHealth CEO Haha So what else is new in SGP???? I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THE STANDARD OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE HERE IS ATROCIOUS. THIS IS FURTHER PROOF THAT YOU SHOULD DELETE THE WORD MERITOCRACY FROM YOUR VOCABULARY. IT DOES NOT EXIST HERE AND IS TOTALLY MEANINGLESS. Another crony to the fore: When will it all end? Are we really that short of talent or is it there is one inter-relationship too many? Are our journalists truly professional or just acting dumb? Again not what you know but really who you know, yeah? From just one hospital to the entire SingHealth
  7. UROLOGIST APPOINTMENT Sabbie went to his appointment with the urologist. In the examining room he told the doctor, 'Don't laugh!' 'Of course I won't laugh,' the doctor said. 'I'm a professional. In more than twenty years I've never laughed at a patient.' 'Okay then,' Sabbie said, and proceeded to drop his trousers, revealing the tiniest 'willie' the doctor had ever seen. It wasn't any bigger than a triple A battery. Unable to control himself, the doctor started giggling, then fell to the floor laughing hysterically. Ten minutes later he was able to struggle to his feet and regain his composure. ' I'm so sorry,' he said. 'I really am. I don't know what came over me. On my honor as a doctor and a gentleman, I promise it won't happen again. Now, what seems to be the problem?' 'It's swollen,' Sabbie replied.
