  1. If you are a fan of or have played the video game series Halo, then you will recognise the vehicle you see here. It is known as the Warthog (a.k.a the M12 Light Recon Vehicle) and it is like a crossover between a dune buggy and a huge truck. This real life version of the Warthog was commissioned by 343 Industries (the company that made Halo 4) and they engaged a Los Angeles based marketing company to build it. Franchise development director at 343 Industries, Frank O' Connor, mentioned that the company wanted to really build something that people could literally see, touch, reach out and enjoy. O' Connor managed to persuade the marketing department to approve his team's idea and budget. And they engaged Antenna to make the Warthog into a reality and the budget figures ran into the hundreds of thousands. Pat Devereux, chief executive of Antenna, stated that 343 Industries sent him an enormous amount of data for the Warthog. Devereux then took the data to Aria Group; who was responsible for actually building the vehicle. Aria Group is known for building numerous concept vehicles for automakers such as General Motors, Honda and Kia. The company took around six months to build the body to the exact specifications and appearance, including the fake heavy machine gun at the back. Beneath the body lie the chassis, engine and transmission from a Hummer H1. It has a 6.5-litre V8 diesel engine and a four speed automatic gearbox. The Warthog's top speed has been limited to 25 miles per hour (40km/h) and this was done for safety reasons. There are only two differences between the real life and digital versions of the Warthog. The digital Warthog has four wheel steering and this would be too costly for the company to incorporate it into the real life version. The real life version is also around twelve percent smaller than it would have been if the company had made it to a 1:1 scale. Despite this, the 7200lbs (3265kg) Warthog makes almost every other vehicle look small. The Warthog will make appearances at the Electronic Entertainment Expo and ComicCon later this year. Buyers with a huge bank account may possibly buy one as Aria Group is in talks with Microsoft to license the production of the Warthog. Image credit: David Undercoffler / Los Angeles Times
  2. Need to check with the bros and sis here. My car currently has those retractable radio antenna at the top of the A-pillar on the right. I find it quite ugly and much prefer my previous car which uses a hidden internal antenna (or maybe even those shark fin ones found on BMW and Saab). Has anyone changed before to those that will automatically retract when engine shut down? How much and where to get it? Maybe I should also ask whether if got such thing in the first place or not. Thanks!
  3. hi all, has anyone replaced their skoda's antenna with either a oem or aftermarket type? Any recommendations as to the type/model and shopto do the replacement? My antenna has crumbled to bits and is exposed...TIA!!
  4. Hi Guys. HELP !!!! My Octy A4's antenna is crumbling... The rubber/plastic moulding that encases the base of the antenna has hardened and cracked. Now bits and pieces have fallen off. I tried to unscrew it and hopefully have it replaced by some cheapo 3rd party type. But after unscrewing fully, I realised that there is a ball knob at the base that prevents the antenna mast fully coming out from the mounting on the car roof. Sent my car in to Servo and asked for the replacement. But was told that it cannot be removed and must be sawed off at the screw thread part before it can be replaced with a 3rd party one. But reception might be poor. So now my antenna has all the rubber bits fallen off and it is thin and looks like a metal spring.... Hoping that you guys here can have some idea on what I can do..... Help ???
  5. I am driving a Swift. This morning while I was washing my car, I realised that the cover that covers the radio antenna which sticks out of the roof has gone missing. Now what is left is just the base and the white antenna with metal coils sticking out. I'm not sure if some itchy finger went to pluck the cover out or it flew off while driving. If I am going to leave it this way, it will rust sooner or later. So I will need to do something about it. Any one knows if I can replace just the cover or do I have to change the whole antenna?
  6. Hi.. My car antenna (old type ) has been damaged and need replacement. Antenna type is attached in pic. Anyone knows where can i repair apart from AD and how much it costs ? Any recommendation at North area? Rgds

  14. Anyone knows where I can get a latio's or similar car antenna other than Tan Chong? Went to quite a few accessories shops but all selling the super short and aluminium looks one and the variety is very little... most shops carries just 2-3 variety. I prefer those plain rubber looks (with no patterns) than those metal ones... something like that which looks more rubbery than metalic ones, i think this one is the original mazda one. If you know, please let me know! Thanks ^^
  15. Hi Guys, I've got a nextbase DVB-T set and I find that the reception is ver lousy with it. Was wondering if it is possible to just purchase a better antenna to get better reception? Is it best to source for 1 at Sim Lim Tower and I'm looking for internal type of antenna not those external types. What's the price range like? Or is it just best to get another better reciever? Thanks for helping!
  16. Hi guys i got a FM Transmitter which is able to broadcast audio into an unused FM channel. For example i broadcast songs playing from my iPod and i can hear it through my car audio tuned to that FM channel. However the reception is quite poor and my antenna is a roof-top kind. I guess is the metallic roof which blocks out most of the FM signals. I have tested the FM Transmitter at home and i can hear the audio very clearly. anyone knows if its possible to install another indoor car antenna without removing the exisiting roof-top antenna? Cheers
  17. hi, Any lobang for windscreen-attached antenna for tv? coz the car DVB-T tv receiver is using a outdoor antenna which i dun like thanks
  18. Hi there, 1. My GPS comes with an external antenna, which is a long & thin wire that is connected to a squarish piece of magnet that can be attached to the car roof. 2. I'm wondering whether I can affixed a functional external car antenna that is used for example like those on Jazz or Stream to my GPS. Any Bros, know where to get it done? Thank you very much. Regards,
  19. Hi guys, The radio antenna is giving me a lot of noise when it is extending and keeping back. The antenna is also crooked Does anyone knows where I can change the whole antenna? Please advice. Thanks in advance.
  20. Hi! thinking of getting a car cover for my car. But my car has a roof antenna sticking out of the rear portion of the roof. Anyone has any idea if it is still possible to put on the car cover with the antenna in place? I know that my antenna is flexible kind but wun long term bending under the cover will cause it to be deformed?? Thanks! BTW any car covers to recommend and where to get them.
  21. Went up to KL and discovered my car attenna got stolen. Does anyone know how much it cost and where to buy it? Would appreciate your help here. At least the car didnt disappear... The Wish fuel consumption is amazing. 15km/l on highway with some city driving.
  22. Hi all, just want to know if there's anything I can do to boost the reception of my windscreen antenna. The stock antenna is embedded into the rear windscreen. Looks as if it's part of the demister in the rear windscreen. The reception is damm poor. I've went to an audio shop. Was told that the only option is to change it to a front windscreen indoor antenna. I'm skeptical as to if it'll really be more effective. Any comments?
  23. Hi, My Astra comes with a rather long antenna and when i open my boot, there's only about 2cm clearance. Once I install my rear roof spoiler, it will knock onto the antenna and I forsee that the prolong bending will either cause my antenna & base to crack or my roof area around the antenna base to warp. I presume the only solution is to install those Shark Fin type antenna found on the BMW but I have talk to their OEM supplier before. Apparently the BMW original antenna comes with both the aerial and GPS connecting points, thus if i want, I have to drill one more hole in my roof. I have also check with Trans Eurokars on their SAAB antenna but it was a GSM antenna. I guess it will be the same with Mercs and Volvo as well. Does anyone know where I can get those Shark Fin Type antenna that only provide aerial reception? I have manage to find a US website that sell it but not sure if it's available locally. http://www.visualgarage.com/home.html Another option for me is to fit those very short antenna, i.e. 1 inch type. Any recommendation on this? I guess reception will not be as good as before. Spoiler will have to go up coz holes have been drilled.. Would really appreciate any advise or help. Thanks.
  24. I am looking for a shorter antenna than the one that comes with my car. Know of any direct 'screw' on replacement that is shorter?
