EV is a game changer not only for automotive manufacturers, but some OEM... Foxconn is best known for assembling the Apple iPhone, but now they’re setting their sights on electric vehicles. If that is not a news "big" enough, they are also aiming to be the Andriod of EV! iPhone Builder Foxconn Unveils EV Platform, Wants To Become The Android Of EVs During their HHTD 20 event, Foxconn unveiled its new “EV Open Platform” which will be shared with other companies for the “common good.” Like platforms from traditional automakers, the architecture is flexible and can underpin a variety of vehicles including hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs and MPVs. In particular, the company said the platform can accommodate wheelbases ranging from 108.3 to 122 inches (2750 to 3100 mm). The architecture can also support various tracks and ride heights. On the performance side of things, Foxconn mentioned battery packs with capacities of 93, 100 and 116 kWh. They’ll power front- and rear-mounted electric motors as well as a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup. Front motors will have outputs of 127 hp (95 kW / 129 PS), 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS). Likewise, rear-mounted motors will produce 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS), 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS), 322 hp (240 kW / 326 PS) and 456 hp (340 kW / 462 PS). The company is also promising high-tech software that supports over-the-air updates as well as different levels of autonomous driving. Amazon Alexa, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also slated to be part of the package. While it seems odd that Foxconn is jumping into the EV game, the company said Tesla is the iPhone of electric vehicles and they want to be the Android of EVs. Reuters also noted the company is set to build electric vehicles in China as part of a joint-venture with FCA.

Xioami listed as cheapest HP had been broken.......... Here comes S$3/- Android HP with Andriod 5.1 Lollipop, 1.3 GHz, 1 GB RAM and 4 GB storage space. Yahoo : Don’t laugh. This Indian company has just launched world’s cheapest smartphone priced at US$1.34 The Namotel Acche Din has a 4-inch display, runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor, and has 1 GB RAM and 4GB storage space With US$1.34, you could probably buy 2.5 kg of tomatoes in India but not a smartphone. Oh, wait. From today, you can buy a smartphone for less than US$2.00 in India. Bangalore-based company Namotel has announced in a press conference that it has launched the world’s cheapest smartphone, priced at INR 99 (US$1.34) — which is cheaper than Freedom 251, priced at US$4, launched by another Indian firm (The company is, however, under investigation for misleading the public). Christened Namotel Acche Din (Namo is apparently the nickname of Indian PM Narendra Modi), the ’cheaper-than-the-cheapest’ handset will be available for booking between May 17 to 25, 2016. According to the company, Namotel Acche Din has a 4-inch display, runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, and is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor. It has 1 GB RAM and 4GB storage space. The smartphone brand will be available only in India on cash-on-delivery basis. Those who have an Aadhaar card can register on its site and book the phone. Acche Din (means good days) comes with one year warranty. For handset and accessory defects under normal use circumstances and at the discretion of the company, Namotel shall provide free-of-charge repair and/or replacement services within the warranty period, it claims on its website. The company is promoted by Madhava Reddy, who claims to have worked as a relationship manager in the Axis Bank’s Home Loans. Established in 2016, the company looks to promote the ‘Make in India’ initiative launched by Modi. In February, Ringing Bells launched Freedom 251. However, it ran into trouble after Kirit Somaiya, leader of India’s leading political party BJP, filed a formal complaint against the company for allegedly violating India’s IT Act for being dishonest with its product claims. Somaiya had alleged that it was impossible for a smartphone manufacturer to price a phone at US$4 without carrier subsidies. In February, he described Freedom 251 as a ponzi scheme. link : https://sg.news.yahoo.com/don-t-laugh-indian-company-just-launched-world-044024944.html

While in Taipei, I was at a book store close to midnight, flipping some car magazines and saw this concept. Once you dock the phone, your phone gets charged and you can use the in dash touch screen to make phone calls, play youtube songs, use google maps etc. Is this a production reality on any car yet?
