Much has been said about the all-new 2013 Skoda Octavia. However, the Czech carmaker did not reveal the details regarding the engine lineup until now. At launch, the grown-up Skoda sedan will be powered by a slew of four turbocharged petrol and four turbocharged diesel engines. In summary, here's the global engine lineup for the 2013 Octavia: Petrol options - 1.2-litre : 86bhp with 160Nm of torque - 1.2-litre (Greentec) : 105bhp with 175Nm of torque - 1.4-litre (Greentec) : 140bhp with 250Nm of torque - 1.8-litre (Greentec) : 180bhp with 250Nm of torque Diesel options - 1.6-litre : 90bhp with 250Nm of torque - 1.6-litre (Greentec) : 105bhp with 250Nm of torque - 1.6-litre (GreenLine) : 110bhp - 2.0-litre (Greentec) : 150bhp with 320Nm of torque The Greentec label denotes the cars with lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions than the standard Skoda vehicles. After showing bits and pieces of the 2013 Skoda Octavia, the Czech automaker has finally revealed the new sedan in one piece. Anyone familiar with new Skoda Rapid will instantly recognise the new model as a skoda even with the logo covered. It is 90mm longer and 45mm wider than its predecessor and rides on a wheelbase that is 108mm longer. The MK3 Skoda has an evolutionary design whose side profile reminds me of the B5.5 Passat while the tail light design resembles those of the C6 Audi A6. Although the design elements are not new, the whole package comes across as a solidly put-together sedan that would do the VW Group proud. The interior has a redesigned three-spoke steering wheel together with a new gear stick. Panorama glass roof is available on the option list. The Octavia also has the best-in-class cargo capacity of 590 liters. Nine engines will be offered on the new Octavia but Skoda only confirmed two of them at the moment. They are the 1.8-litre TSI with 179bhp and the 1.6-litre TDI with 110bhp. All engines will be mated to a DSG transmission.

The next generation Skoda Octavia has been spied almost naked in this latest spy video of the new Czech mid-sized sedan. As evident from the video, the Mk3 Octavia stays close to the general design of Skoda cars seen in the Mk2 version and the new Rapid sedan. The new model adopts a smaller grille and more angular head lamp design. The new Octavia will be larger than the outgoing model to distant itself from the Rapid. It will also be more upmarket. The new model will be underpinned by VW
