Do you agree? What are your thoughts? Systems in Spore are generally very efficient from buses (not so for MRT now) and roads and one of the best airports we are having. your thoughts? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Finland has emerged as the happiest nation in the world in the sixth World Happiness Report. Norway, which topped the list last year, finished second in the 2018 report, followed by Denmark, Iceland and Switzerland. The report, prepared by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the United Nations, ranks countries on six key variables - income, freedom, trust, healthy life expectancy, social support and generosity. The 2018 report focuses on migration within and between countries and was released on March 14, a week ahead of the World Happiness Day. It surveyed 156 countries for their happiness levels, and 117 countries to determine the happiness of immigrants. In Asia, Israel finished first occupying the 11th spot, while United Arab Emirates came second at rank 20, followed by Qatar (32) and Saudi Arabia (33). In Southeast Asia, Singapore was found to be the happiest nation at rank 34, followed by Malaysia (35) and Thailand (46). China is lagging behind its Asian neighbours at 86 in the happiness quotient, while its fellow billion citizen peer, India is seemingly even more unhappy at rank 133. Among other Asian nations, Mongolia was ranked at 94, Vietnam at 95, Indonesia, 96, Bhutan - which was once the happiest - at 97, Nepal at 101, Laos, 110, Bangladesh, 115, Sri Lanka, 116, Cambodia, 120 and Myanmar, 130. http://www.asiaone.com/singapore/singapore-happiest-nation-southeast-asia

Last night & today, almost rear collided by motorbikes who tried to overtaking, first was a bike with exhaust mod racing along a bend on lane1 at high speed, today was another bike cant wait for cars to exit road on left, die die want to overtake. Come to worse only the bikers will suffer bodily harm not the car owners, money cannot buy back their lives. So do u think anything will change if more stringent demerit penalty is imposed on motorcyclist?

Knn...I m jealous!!!..I somehow got a feeling that pple staying in Hougang n Potong parsay are the most fortunate leh.... Why ?? 1) they got PAP to keep their opposition MP on their toes hence they died died cannot screw up...and have to perform...else sure dig up by the PAP 2) they got 2 MP to serve them.....one real one..and one PAP potential candidate 3) their conservasion charges are among the lowest in singapore.... 4) they still got their lift upgrade afterall 5) After what tharma say that they are not like opp party who simply PARACHUTE into the ward during election....from his comment...point 2 is further reinforced. ie. if PAP were to lose, the pple in the ward can rest assure that the losing PAP team will NOT Disappear for the next 5 yr.... Do u all fully or partially agree with me ??

LTA takes the cars that we scrap at ZERO value, then sells it to people at bidded value. Is this fair? No value is give to car that were scrapped. Its like taking farmer's land at Zero value then selling off to Developer at bidded value.

Since Off Peak car can drive on Sat whole day, Sunday and Public Holidays, why HDB season parking holders cannot free park at other HDB parking lots on Sat. like Sundays and Public Holidays? Why double standard? Saturday is off day as Sunday. Does HDB try to discourage people visit relatives and friends on Saturday and encourage them just stay at home because they can use their season parking lot. If you agree HDB should offer free park on Sat. too. Please go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/Free-Parking...158206087549480 to voice out.

After reading a post by a bro on how in Europe they even have a mark in certain drink cups to fill until before adding ice, I suddenly feel that Singapore really got no customer protection. Any bros have any bad experiences to share? Together with this info we will not be made us of again

These are what I observed. Bus journeys seem to be taking longer. Buses like to cruise at a speed that feels like 2km/h Whenever they see a green light ahead of them, they will wait until they turn red. And garmen never say anything about this. Only talk about wanting to increase ERP again.

Do these quotes kind of summarize recent events 'Government is like a baby: An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.'- Ronald Reagan (TAX, ERP, COE, etc) 'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.'- Ronald Reagan (GEYLANG RAID) 'Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it' - Ronald Reagan (GST) 'The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'-Ronald Reagan (MEDISAVE & convoluted use of CPF money) Have fun with these quotes? Any quotes applicable to our neighbours?

http://www.reuters.com/article/rbssFinanci...UST585520090722 HONG KONG, July 22 (Reuters) - Hong Kong's securities watchdog said on Wednesday that 16 banks had agreed to pay about HK$6.3 billion ($813 million) to compensate eligible investors who lost money on structured products or minibonds offered by collapsed U.S. bank Lehman Brothers. "The agreement that we have reached today will enable the vast majority of investors who hold minibonds to receive a substantial return of their capital," said Securities and Futures Commission Chairman Martin Wheatley. "The total amount that they'll receive will be equal to or greater than what they could otherwise recover at current market values," he told reporters following an SFC meeting with the banks. More than 30,000 Hong Kong residents ploughed nearly $2.5 billion into the derivative products which failed as Lehman Brothers collapsed last September. If the agreement is accepted by investors, "the vast majority of them will be able to get back 70 percent or more of their original investments," Financial Secretary John Tsang said in a statement following the SFC announcement. The agreement will put an end to more than 10 months of distress for investors, and will also enable the banks to resume their normal operation, Tsang added. Many of the investors blamed the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) for allowing local banks to sell the products without making investors aware they were risky products. They took to the streets, staging a number of protests in the past year and prompting a government inquiry. The HKMA and the Securities and Futures Commission have since made separate recommendations on how to better protect investors. They include forcing banks to separate their deposit-taking and retail investment businesses. Minibond distributors Sun Hung Kai Financial (0086.HK) and KGI Asia earlier this year agreed to compensate investors in full. Investors in Singapore and Indonesia also lost money on the products. Singapore investors have only been compensated for about a third of their investments. (US$1 = HK$7.75) (Reporting by Nerilyn Tenorio, Donny Kwok and Susan Fenton , Editing by Tomasz Janowski)

Three myths about the Singapore woman by Skilldo If you are a male and still single, you may probably have heard these myths about Singaporean women, or even more likely, you may have used them at some point in your dating career. Myth #1: Singapore girls are harder to approach It's highly likely the guy who believe this has probably approached less than than 10 women in his life. Here's the fact: if you have walked up to and chatted with enough women, you will find plenty of highly responsive ones. Sure, there are girls who have their noses in the air. If that happens to you, simply turn away and speak to another lady. There is really nothing hard about it. Never use limited references from just a few approaches to become the overall verdict about women. In the end, it's NOT that S'pore females are harder to talk to. Instead, it has got to do with how much a guy is preventing himself from going up to a girl to break the ice. Myth #2: Women in Singapore have very high standards for men I won't totally disagree with this point, but hear me out. Women all have standards. They all have "wants". In terms of the type of man they want, they say - "I want a guy to have this, I want a guy to have that." But when you attract a lady enough (even if you don't fit the description of what she says she want), she will still be happy being with you. I know women who say they want good-looking guys, but end up with common-looking ones. I also know women who say they want to get a rich guy and be a 'tai-tai' - haven't we all heard that before? - but end up with ordinary salaried males. Of course, we also know examples of rich guys getting beautiful women, but I can tell you surely that for every "rich guy gets girl" example there is out there, I can show you two more cases of "ordinary guy gets girl". And as a personal example of someone who's heard it before, there are women who say they will only consider tall men, but end up with partners who do not fit that bill. Note:I happen to be living this reality. My current girlfriend made it clear that she preferred tall guys when I first met her. Well, I'm at best average height and could have taken what she said as final. But I didn't. If one knows what attraction is all about, he should not be bothered by what a lady says she wants. Myth #3: All the pretty/nice ones are taken Not true. Maybe if you said that the hot ones are more in demand, then it's correct. But when it comes to them confirmed as being taken, then that is not the case. As we speak, countless pretty and/or nice ladies are still holding onto their single status. Again, this relates closely to being limited by a certain view. People who think all the good ones are taken obviously has not socialised enough. They observe the six gorgeous girls in their office who are all attached, and conclude that there is no one else left for them. But if a man gets to know a lot of fine-looking women from different places, they will invariably find a large number of them who are single and 'still looking'. Never be fenced up by what you're faced with. The entire Singapore is your girl-getting arena.
