Not sure if this is new behaviour (hence the question mark) but I'm seeing my own posts and other people's posts suddenly being obscured by advertisements which block the entire body of the post. I have to reload the page and after a few seconds, the ad returns to block the same post. I can't even read longer posts like quoted news articles anymore. It is *extremely* intrusive and irksome. I'm using an Android phone with Chrome.

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/cnainsider/army-fake-reviews-online-taobao-amazon-tripadvisor-sales-10448454 marketing strategy or a scam? i dont mind getting paid $1,600 a month just from writing them though... usually before buying stuff on taobao/ezbuy i'll read through the reviews first. esp in the case of ezbuy, it's easy to spot real from fake reviews. usually genuine ones will have actual product photos. and i would prefer to read reviews weighing both the pros and cons. if company A has 20 good reviews, it may just look dubious. but in any case, take any reviews with a pinch of salt. especially items from taobao. one man's meat may be another man's poison. it's the same for bloggers/influencer. they are paid to advertise and endorse products from their sponsors, if not how are they going to earn? though there are genuine ones out there. you usually see the new "influencers" or the less popular ones being more eager to say niceties about their sponsors. those are the ones you should avoid.

Hi Bros, I'm selling my HDB Flat currently without Property Agents as I've done most of the paper-works online, and has also recently attended a course by HDB on selling without agents. However, I'm not able to advert on properties portals such as Property Guru and ST Properties etc which have high exposure on resales. I understand these portals are for agents with advert accounts or advert compliment credits only. I'm willing to pay advert charges therefore can anyone advise how I can go about it ASAP Thks!

There’s nothing in the world quite so cynical as advertising. Most of us just accept it as a fact of life, which it is. For some of us there’s always a little growl of annoyance at the back of our minds whenever we’re forced to put up with someone trying to sell us something. On one hand, a reasonable decision has to be that anyone selling anything needs to make consumers aware of what’s available. You can’t always rely on buyers to actively seek you out. Advertising is fair enough, on that basis. On the other hand there have always been limits to how pervasive this commercial intrusion into our lives can get. Roadside billboards, radio ads, TV ads and printed ads are a passive attempt to engage with people with money to spend. They’re fine. You don’t have to pay attention if you don’t want to, even though lots of people do nonetheless. No one can argue that you don’t sometimes gain useful information from advertising. It’s good to know, for example, that there’s a car parts shop half an hour’s drive from your house that you didn’t know about, and never would have known about if not for advertising. On the other hand, the age of connected devices has brought with it a very different type of advertising. We’re talking about pop-ups, banner ads that are impossible to close down, and pre/mid-roll on videos. These are the commercial realities of the digital age. Advertising helps keep publications like this running, so it would be mighty hypocritical of us to call it all bad. But it’s about to get worse. This week we learned of a system built by an American company called Telenav. It will allow advertisers to pipe their commercials directly to your car’s media screen when the car is stationary. Adverts you never asked for and never agreed to accept. This, we have a problem with. Adverts will be delivered either under threat of financial penalties if you don’t ‘choose’ to watch them, or with a bribe-shaped discount on the cost of your connected car services if you do watch them. It depends on which way you want to look at it. A Telenav spokesperson said: With technology already able to check which way your face is turned and which way your eyes are looking, the car could know whether you’re watching these commercials or not. It may even pause them if you look away, or refuse to let you access the net until you’ve watched the whole advert(s). Forgive me if I’m being over-dramatic, but that sounds like being held to ransom in your own car. Your car is your personal space. It’s a private cocoon that you keep exactly the way you want it. You make it look the way you want, you make it sound the way you want and you make it feel the way you want. Your choice of model alone is a reflection of who you are, even if the car itself is unmodified. It’s yours, and only you should get to decide what goes on inside it.

Hello, I am researching the benefits of running a large radio campaign and I am wondering if anyone here has prior radio advertising experience? My goal is not at all branding, but rather direct sales. I would be directing the radio listeners to my website. So I am wondering how the ROI of radio ads compares to web ads? Does anyone have knowledge of how to purchase and setup a large radio campaign? I went through many resources and checked Advertising Campaign Examples but,I haven't found a clear source for rates and to purchase ads. Any advice? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

I wanted to sell a 1 day rental of a porsche as it was given by maybank i could not find the correct category thus i chose to advert as non-car related.. i also did not bypass the necessary requirements by starting a thread on this.. and instead patiently waited for the 6hrs work hours timeline now Da_editor replied me that they term it as i am selling it as commercial purpose and ask me to buy an advertisement instead how the hell can it be commerical when i have stated clearly that it is only for 1 day and collection is transeurokars.... noticed my advert was deleted as stated in my watchlist even without waiting for my confirmation if it is indeed for commerical purpose Watchlist

..as if they need it!! iPhone app leads to arrest of snatch thief By Mustafa Shafawi | Posted: 07 December 2010 1801 hrs Photos1 of 1 Twitter Messenger SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a serial snatch thief following a crucial lead provided by an iPhone application. The thief had snatched a 36-year-old woman's iPhone in the early hours of Sunday morning along Lim Liak Street, in the Tiong Bahru area. Police was able to trace the stolen phone via an iPhone application called "Find My iPhone". The application allowed the missing iPhone to be located on a map. With this important lead, officers were able to establish the identity of the suspect and he was arrested on Monday in Outram Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is also believed to be responsible for several other snatch theft cases in the Tiong Bahru and Kim Tian estates. Police said the suspect, an 18-year-old Malaysian man, will be charged in court on Wednesday. If convicted he could be jailed for up to 7 years and caned. Police said a Court Order will be sought to remand him for further investigations.

Dont quite like the following words appearing on my Optra's number plate (front and back): "StarsAuto - Home of Chevrolet" I suggested to SE that I preferred not to have such messages on the number plates before I took over the car but SE told me that the number plates are standard. What to do? I would have preferred something more neutral such as the one appearing on Matrix - "Designo di Pininfarina" - sounds more stylo. How to change hah?
