  2. Gentlemen, start your engines… or perhaps you'd might want to get those electric motors purring! Sgcarmart has kicked off its inaugural Sgcarmart Adventures - a curated adventure designed to bring local car enthusiasts and the community at large together - with a driving trip that saw a total of six cars participating to take a deeper look at Singapore's automotive manufacturing history. The day started off with a quick breakfast right in the lobby of our office, which was followed by a safety briefing and a quick photoshoot of both the participants and their cars. A quick drive later saw our convoy arriving at the Former Ford Factory, where our participating Mycarforum members got a deeper than usual insight into the history of the plant, where we were greeted by one chatty but insightful museum guide. The tour proved to be highly informative, with the guide informing those gathered about more than just the history of the factory itself, but also its surroundings and sharing more than few personal anecdotes about what motoring here in Singapore was like during the years after the war. One more shot of the participants later then saw our convoy heading off to visit the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre Singapore, where we were treated to a tour of the facility. But this was no regular visit - those who joined us for this tour got the unique opportunity to meet Spot, the canine-inspired robot developed by Hyundai-owned robotics firm Boston Dynamics. This was then followed by the chance to try some of the innovation centre's vegetables from its vertical farm, and the chance to 'assemble' some cars as part of an augmented reality experience! And of course, we couldn't leave before first sampling some of the cars now being made at the centre, starting off with rides in the Ioniq 5 on the centre's own rooftop Skytrack. Those who wanted to get behind the wheel of a car were not left out, however, as test drives of the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 (on the roads surrounding the innovation centre, that is) were also offered to all eligible Mycarforum members as part of the driving trip! Looking to join us on our next Sgcarmart Adventure? Make sure you sign up for a Mycarfourm account here and look out for the post when we announce our next event!

  5. Still remember it?? Mine was this: I was in p3, my bro p5.... we both loved satay. One day, we decided to take a bus to eat our favourite satay. Everything went well.... the satay was good... we were happy and licking our lips after finished must be something like 30 sticks together..... then, we were shocked to find out we forgot to bring enough money!! The stall owner said: what??.... no money to pay!!!??? ...... we offered to wash dishes for him, but he said NO!! Bo bian, i had to stay behind (as hostage?) and my bro walked back all the way home to get money (no more money to even take a bus home)..... the longest wait in my life........ my first taste/ lesson on "there's no free lunch...."

  7. Tuesday February 13, 2007 New Malaysia-Indonesia passenger and vehicle ferry service in June KUALA LINGGI A ferry service for both passengers and vehicles from the Kuala Linggi jetty to Riau and Dumai, Indonesia, is expected to be launched in June. Malaysians will then be able to drive their own cars in Riau and Dumai while Indonesians entering Malaysia via Linggi Jetty can drive up till Thailand. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) meetings had approved the set up of such a service after proposals were made more than three years ago. He confirmed that the proposal was in its last stage of preparation and would be submitted to the Cabinet soon.
  8. Fiat took the wraps off a brand new concept dubbed FCC Adventure at the Sao Paolo Car Show yesterday. FCC, which stands for Fiat Concept Car is a study developed entirely by Fiat Automoveis (Fiat's South American department) and built in Brasil. Based on the C-segment hatch Stilo, the FCC Adventure is a crossover vehicle combining elements from coupe's & SUV's. Under its dynamic body which notably brings to mind cars from the famous Dakar Rally, the FCC Adventure is equipped with a Stilo Abarth derived, 5cylinder 20V 2,4 litre engine with an output of 167 Hp. Other notable features of the front wheel drive FCC Adventure is it's front differential and the multi-link rear suspension. Seeing this concept, it makes you wonder why Fiat didn't go ahead and build something like this for the European market instead of the utterly boring, Suzuki SX4 based, Sedici.
