  1. Tyres size 205/60r16. where to find cheap replacements since car scraping in 6mth time. 2nd tyres in Sg or JB cheaper?
  2. Hi Guys. The outside of my front left tyre is badly worn as compared To the rest of the tyres. The inside is ok. Just the outside is really worn. Any ideas on what might be the problem? Thanks!!
  3. Need advise on how to self check if wheel bearing is worn. I've replaced a new set of tires but the woot woot noise persist. Very irritating... Also thinking of replacing front brake rotors as the steering wheel vibrates when depressing brake to slow down... Or do I have to replace rear rotors as well? Do I need to send the car for wheel alignment after doing the above repairs/replacements? Btw my car mileage is 135kkm and has not done replace the above arts before. Thanks!
  4. Esp. expressways. I travel on CTE, PIE, BKE, KJE etc......almost on a daily basis. The roads are super duper worn out. Some parts can see pot holes being repaired and come back and repaired again. Then the road markings also almost gone already. So faint...... I am just wondering what on earth is LTA doing??? Collect all the COE, road tax etc.... and this is the kind of standard we get?
  5. Was out with a friend in his A6 for late night supper and on the way home, his front left tyre gave way on PIE. To cut the story short, it was much hassle, time wasted and a costly affair to have to get the car towed and 4 tires replaced (Dunlop SM TT) for $2k at City Tyre at 2am. His 19" BS RE050A was having inner wear at the front to the extent that the rubber was worn down to the carcass and eventually gave way. It could have disintegrated at higher speed, causing much more damage and a danger to all. Had regular rotation been done (car is lowered and has -ve camber), the wear would had been spotted much earlier, preventing such an expensive and dangerous event from occuring. To all vehicle owners, please practise proper care on your tires :- 1) maintain tyre pressure at appropriate level for your vehicle; 2) check your alignment; 3) regular rotation; 4) replace on a timely basis, not wear till botak; 5) ensure spare tyre and tool kit is available in your boot (friend's tool kit was missing though tire available!)
  6. 1. Oil light came on. Check engine oil level and the engine oil level is OK. So not due to oil running low. 2, Oil light came on and persist. So took car to a workshop in Ubi for repair. 3. Mechanic jacked up car ....found oil sump leaking....gasket failed. So need to remove oil sump for new gasket and sealant. And need to change oil pressure switch. So left car at the workshop for repair, includes Engine Oil change service and to collect in the evening. Boss of workshop sms later: Hi Sir, tis is from the Workshop. Our man is checking through the car during servicing n find your clutch wearing out soon. Based on the wear rate, the vehicle milage should be approximately 140-150K. THe clutch pedal is giving quite a bit of squeaking sound as a result. Would U like to replace it? Thks. Is it possible to see the clutch disc or plate worn out through the oil sump removal and through the Flywheel?
  7. My left front brake rotor is much more worn than the right. There's no other symtomps like pulling to one side. Dealer checked and say no caliper binding, and can't say where's the problem. Any idea where the fault could be?
  8. Hi all - need some advice here. My 17" tyres already worn-out in 18 months, and I don't even drive that much, maybe covered 24,000km on this set I don't know much about tyres in terms of the different brands and models on the market. Would like to seek recommendations on brand/model based on following : 1. 215/55/R17 or 225/50/R17 2. Durable/long-wearing 2. Not bothered about noise (ears not sensitive haha) 3. Decent grip (I'm not aggressive driver) 4. Preferably made in Japan (or at least not made in China...) 5. Mid-range price (wanna save money but don't think can find cheap and good so will settle for mid-range) Of course overall priority is safety.. Thanks
  9. Dear bros, My engine is very noisy when I drive with air-con on. Upon a workshop diagnostic, they told me compressor spoil, die die must change. $750 in all. I only plan to drive my ride for another 1-2 years. 1. Any cheaper way to go around ? 2. Can the compressor bearings be repaired ? if yes, pls advise on workshop and estimated price. Thks in advance.
  10. Did my 70K servicing 1.5 mths back & the mechanic told me the above. Cost about $250+ At that I thought of waiting till tbe 80K servicing. Going to Malaysia for holiday next week, so this thing pops into my mind. Maybe I should change them for safety. Normally, what's the replacement period ? Car reaching 2 yrs next mth.
  11. guys, my car (proton wira) clocked 75k km and having serious jerking at low gears, at 1st, 2nd and sometime 3rd gear. it is intermitten. things have done to resolve the problem: 1. changed fuel filter 2. changed ignition cables 3. cleaned spark plug 4. adjusted clutch cable but the problem is still persist. next suspected item is the clutch plate worn off. how to check and confirm the clutch is worn off? BTW, this is a very informative forum TQ jigc
