Lol was driving my car to work. Then on the xoressway slip road started hearing this grinding racket. First thought is I got a flat again and the rim is scrapping the floor. Reached work but no flat. Nothing dragging from under carriage. Racket continuous as long as wheels are running. Lol sounds horrible. Gotta go work shop tomorrow.

With its decades of experience working with high-end supercars, Hong Seh Motors brings its Authorised Dealer level of service to you at a reasonable cost. There are thousands of car workshops in Singapore - some aim to offer the lowest prices, some specialise on body work, and some tackle complicated repairs. Spoilt by so many choices, how then do you know which workshop to entrust your car to? For most owners of new cars, it isn't difficult - the Authorised Dealers will handle it. But what if your car runs out of warranty and complimentary servicing packages, and you still want that top-tier service standard without paying through your nose? With Hong Seh Motors, that is exactly what you will get. Decades of experience as a supercar Authorised Dealer - Hong Seh Motors Unlike your typical workshops, Hong Seh Motors was the former authorised dealer of Ferrari and Maserati cars in Singapore that has decades of experience in the industry - it clinched the Ferrari distributorship here back in 1983. There are plenty of differences between an authorised dealer workshop and a typical workshop, and it all lies in the facility, equipment, skill level of technicians and the level of service that you’ll receive. Due to the close working relationship between authorised dealers and car manufacturers, they are held to a certain standard. In fact, it is common practice for the technicians and mechanics to receive training from the manufacturer before they are certified to work on the cars. And you can just imagine how stringent the training would be when it comes to supercar manufacturers. Skilled technicians aside, authorised dealers are also required to be equipped with quality equipment and tools. As an ex-authorised dealer workshop that works on supercars, Hong Seh has invested in top-of-the-line equipment to ensure the best quality work possible. It recently invested $2 million on its workshop and equipment to ensure top-tier work on its client’s cars. Among its equipment is a chassis alignment measuring robotic arm and jig from Carbench, making it the only bodyshop in Singapore to be authorised by Carbench. Carbench is an Italian brand that produces equipment that are used by manufacturers such as Maserati, Jaguar, Ferrari, Porsche and Tesla. Hong Seh also has an environmentally friendly paint shop, which includes an electric paint booth from Saima, and uses PPG water-based paint - its paint shop is authorised by PPG (the same brand of paint that Ferrari uses). With these equipment, Hong Seh is a workshop that is capable of complete refurbishment of cars to a standard expected of an authorised dealer. Not just supercars - Hong Seh Motors has the capabilities to work on all cars including EVs With Hong Seh Motors’ experience working on supercars, there’s no job too big or intricate for the team to resolve. Hong Seh Motors Service Centre is a one-stop shop that can work on anything from a simple routine servicing, pre-purchase inspections, to wheel alignments, engine overhauls, body repairs, paintwork, accident claims, tyre replacement and even a full classic car restoration. Its team consists of mechanics who have been working with the company for over 20 years. On top of the rich experience that its team has, Hong Seh Motors has also kept up with the times and is fully capable of working on EVs. The team is IMI trained to work on EVs, and is equipped with the necessary tools for working on high-voltage systems. As such, it is able to work on the high-voltage EV systems, including diagnosis and repairs of EV batteries. As Hong Seh Motors also has its own car leasing department, it has been working on cars of all makes and model. Hence, no matter what car you drive, you can be rest assured that Hong Seh would be able to resolve your issue. Reasonably priced services with top-tier workmanship Getting skilled mechanics to work on your car with quality equipment and parts might sound expensive, but it isn’t the case here. Hong Seh Motors insists on two main things: it always emphasises on quality, no matter how small the job is, or how tough it could be, and it promises to provide an authorised dealer level of service at a reasonable price. Yet another perk of going to a workshop that adopts an authorised dealer’s approach would be its clear and transparent processes - with everything properly explained to you, there’s no worries of hidden charges or any shock when you get your bill. Hong Seh Motors is located at 10 Fourth Lok Yang Road, Singapore 629707. It is open on Mondays to Fridays, from 8:15am to 6:00pm. Staying or working in the West? Hong Seh is a top contender to consider for your automotive needs. You can find out more and book an appointment with Hong Seh Motors at its website.

Last few days the weather was a killer! and the aircon is always temperamental to break down on these hot days..... Was reading the forum for aircon workshop - MarkCool, Tomika came up as most popular. Some suggestions were Kim. Went over to Ubi early morning 8.45am. Saw Tomika already opened and Kim was yet to open. There were already cars inside Tomika so decided to wait for Kim. After discussion with Kim and his visual inspection, the possibility of breakdown is cooling coil leak. Quoted the job cost, nego a bit, go ahead to do it. Good thing is if the coil is OK, then i just need to pay for aircon service fee (include coil checking). Humble boss, give Kim a try. Just make sure you are early because the job will take 3-4hrs (for cooling coil or more for compressor). The assistant is OK quite open to share knowledge with me. The above quote applied to bread & butter Jap 1.3L car. I understand from boss that Conti car will need more workmanship, thus higher job fee.

Over 900 flats to be built in Sin Ming; first new HDB project in the area in over 30 years SINGAPORE - More than 900 Housing Board flats will be built along Sin Ming Road in Upper Thomson, the first new units to be launched for sale in the area since 1988. The project – slated for completion in the second quarter of 2027 – will offer 984 flats across five residential blocks ranging from 22 to 28 storeys. There will also be a seven-storey carpark, social communal facilities and roof gardens, a signboard at the construction site showed. Photos of the site were posted to social media platform Reddit on Tuesday. When The Straits Times visited the site next to Block 25 Sin Ming Road on Wednesday, construction work was under way. ST understands that the Sin Ming flats will be launched as a Build-to-Order (BTO) project. BTO launches typically occur in February, May, August and November. The Sing Ming project comes under Bishan, and a check on HDB’s website showed that there will be no BTO launches in the area in the upcoming May and August launches. Property analysts said the last HDB blocks completed in Sin Ming were in 1988, when 945 units were built in Sin Ming Avenue. Huttons Asia senior director of research Lee Sze Teck said there could be pent-up demand for BTO flats in the area. He expects the application rate for the Sin Ming project to fall between two and four – referring to the number of applicants vying for each of the units. “It appears that HDB is building BTO flats in mature estates in advance so as to deliver it within a shorter time,” he added. OrangeTee & Tie senior vice-president of research and analytics Christine Sun noted that the site is located near schools such as Catholic High School and Ai Tong School, as well as Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, which would contribute to demand. “There is a lack of new flats in the area, and prices of new private homes in nearby districts such as Upper Thomson, Bishan, Ang Mo Kio, Marymount and Lentor are quite high,” she said. The project could have a mix of two-room flexi, three-room and four-room flats, but bigger units like five-room and three-generation flats may not be offered to keep prices affordable, she added. Mr Lee said four-room units at the project could be priced between $525,000 and $650,000, based on resale prices. Other four-room flats in Sin Ming, which are more than 30 years old, have transacted at $600,000 to $750,000. Mogul.sg chief research officer Nicholas Mak said the new estate could include amenities such as retail shops and childcare services, as the former industrial estate currently does not have many existing amenities to serve residents. He added that the project is located near the Upper Thomson and Bishan MRT stations, which will give future residents access to three different lines - the North-South line, Thomson-East Coast line and Circle line. The analysts said the Sin Ming project is unlikely to fall under the prime location public housing model, in which owners are subject to criteria such as a 10-year minimum occupation period. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/housing/over-900-hdb-flats-to-be-built-in-sin-ming-first-hdb-project-in-the-area-in-over-30-years wow, this location brings back memories. my uncle and I both go Yew Lip before, my friends and I fixed our first cams at Chuan Sing. and the food selection at Blk 22 is another attraction. and I recall there is a popular engine or gearbox overhaul shop there too.

Promptly replace these parts on your car and you find yourself stranded at the side of the road, waiting for a tow truck to save you! What's the worst thing that can happen to a driver? I would imagine that to be getting stranded at the side of road in the middle of the night, or maybe rushing to the carpark in the morning for an important meeting just to find out that your car wouldn't start. While a car is comprised of countless components, each part plays an important role for the car to work, and these parts do not last forever. Here are 5 crucial parts and how you can find out if they are due for a replacement. As its name suggests, the fuel pump's job is to feed fuel to the engine. In the past, mechanical fuel pumps are used in cars that utilised carburettors. Recent cars which are fuel injected usually have an in-tank mounted electric fuel pump, while direct injected cars have another high-pressure fuel pump located at the engine. Engines combust fuel in order to produce power, and if the fuel pump fails, the supply of fuel will be disrupted, causing you to be stranded at the side of the road. Failing symptoms: Difficulty starting car, loud whirring noise from fuel tank, engine sputtering or hesitation, abnormally poor fuel economy. The alternator perpetually charges your car's battery, as well as provides electricity for the car's operation. Without electricity, a car will not be able to run as the electrical system and components, the spark plugs and fuel pump, all require electricity to work. Hence, when the alternator fails, the battery won't be charged and will eventually go flat. Without electricity, there will not be any spark to ignite the fuel in the engine and your car will not be able to run. The alternator is one of the prime suspects when a car stalls in the middle of the journey and can't be restarted. Failing symptoms: Dim or flickering lights, electrical issues, dead battery, whining noise from alternator, warning light (battery symbol). Most, if not, all cars these days are equipped with an electric starter. The starter cranks the engine, and is the reason you can start your car simply by turning a key, or pressing a button. Hence, a spoilt starter means you won't be able to start your car. For cars with manual transmission, you can still get the car to start by push-starting it. But if you drive an automatic car, like most people these days, you are out of luck, there's no other way to start your car. The silver lining is that such a failure is unlikely to cause you to be stranded as it doesn't have any effect once the car has been started and not turned off. Failing symptoms: Engine won't crank or it makes a clicking and/or grinding noise when you turn the key or push the start button. Ignition coils produce a high-voltage electric pulse to the spark plug, so as to generate a spark to ignite the gasoline mixture in the engine's combustion chamber. This means that if the ignition coil is not working properly, the engine will not be able to combust fuel. This can result in engine misfiring, or totally fail to work in severe cases where all the ignition coils in an engine are faulty. Failing symptoms: Difficulty starting car, engine misfiring, rough idle, engine hesitation, exhaust back-fire, poor fuel economy, poor engine power. Most modern cars are water-cooled, this means that there will be a radiator. The radiator is a water to air heat exchanger. Its job is to cool down the water that courses through the engine and in turn, keep the engine in its cool, operating temperature. If the radiator fails, you will face an overheating issue, which can cause expensive damage to your engine. When you notice a leak in the cooling system of your car that caused it to overheat, it is not advisable to continue your journey, as it might aggravate the damage done to the engine. Failing symptoms: Engine overheating, visible coolant leak, low coolant in radiator and/or expansion tank. If you looked under the bonnet of most cars, you might notice many parts inscribed with DENSO's logo. DENSO manufactures a wide variety of automotive parts, ranging from engine parts, car electronic systems, car climate control (air-conditioning) systems, car safety systems such as airbag sensors to small motors for wipers, power windows and others for major car brands. DENSO is an OEM manufacturer of all the important components that are mentioned above. Its quality ensures that the cars are able to start at the turn of a key or the press of a button and work flawlessly without any issue. DENSO is committed to creating a safer world, by developing safe and secure products. At US$4.4 billion of research and development investment (as of 2021), DENSO had invested nearly 10% of its global consolidated sales to accelerate technological development. Yes I was there... Yes I'm proud to be there... No I wasn't happy going there. Those phrase means a lot to me. Why? Cause... 1)I was just there this evening to look see look see how the workshop looks like. 2)I'm proud to be there cause I saw these words which says something like... "We specialize.... Volkwagen, Audi, Skoda..." One of the VERY few workshop that does Skoda cars. 3)I got lost trying to reach there... Took wrong exit from CTE (AMK)... Ended up in AMK Ave 8... Make 1 BIG round just to reach back AMK St 22 to reach Sin Ming Ave... Like the topic says... Once I've reached the workshop, it's jam packed with lots and lots of VW and 2 Skoda Octy.

So my car is getting on in age and I felt that it's time to get a refresh, and spruce it up in time for Christmas, and welcome the new year.. There are some scratches and battle wounds, but the I've been washing, waxing it and I did the whole PPS / Nano thing when I bought the car. So my first port of call was to polish it at a professional shop, but if there are paint shops which can do a new coat for not much more, then I'll consider that instead or any other options too? Thanks
