Dear mod, please don't give me warning or ban my account. 😅 I am just hoping my long lost friends will bring me some good news during this challenging time. 🙂 ‘Are you jerking my bobber?’ Lottery winner stuns friend by sharing prize https://amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jul/23/powerball-lotter-winner-shares-prize-friend A western Wisconsin man will share his millions in lottery winnings with a longtime friend because of a promise they made to each other nearly three decades ago. Friends Tom Cook and Joseph Feeney shook hands in 1992 and promised that if either of them ever won the Powerball jackpot, they would split the money. That promise came to fruition last month when Cook bought the winning ticket for a $22m jackpot at Synergy Coop in Menomonie. When Cook called to give his friend the good news, Feeney couldn’t quite believe it. “He called me, and I said, ‘are you jerking my bobber?”’ said Feeney, an avid fisherman. Cook retired after hitting the jackpot while Feeney was already retired. Neither has any extravagant plans for the winnings but each is looking forward to enjoying more family time. “We can pursue what we feel comfortable with. I can’t think of a better way to retire,” Cook said. The pair said they were looking forward to some traveling. The men chose the cash option of about $16.7m, leaving each with nearly $5.7m after taxes are paid. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are one in about 292m.

China military training inadequate for winning a war: army paper China's military authority has sent a document to military units detailing 40 weaknesses in current training methods, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Daily said in a front-page story. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/10/12/us-china-military-idUSKCN0I108Q20141012 (Reuters) - Weaknesses in China's military training pose a threat to the country's ability to fight and win a war, China's official military newspaper said on Sunday. China's military authority has sent a document to military units detailing 40 weaknesses in current training methods, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Daily said in a front-page story. "These problems reflect shortcomings and weak-points in the makeup of our military fighting force. If they are not promptly dealt with, then they will certainly affect and hinder our army's ability to go to war," the paper said, citing the PLA general staff headquarters. President Xi Jinping has been pushing to strengthen the fighting ability of China's 2.3 million-strong armed forces, the world's largest, and stepping up efforts to modernize forces that are projecting power across disputed waters in the East and South China Seas. The country's armed forces came under fire earlier this year from serving and retired Chinese officers and state media who questioned whether the force was too corrupt to win a war. The military newspaper said China needed to find a cure for the "peace disease" affecting its training regime to ensure the armed forces could master the ability to win a real conflict. Military authorities identified issues for the country's army, navy and air force, including training standards and styles by commanders and military units. The problems were identified through supervision of drills, including joint exercises with foreign armed forces, the PLA Daily said. China has developed stealth jets and has built one aircraft carrier

Long story cut short Bought a second hand ride a few weeks ago from creative auto. Deal and price was reasonable , so proceed for checks and inspection. Car is both inspected in STA and Agent In both reports car condition is satisfactory Went for regular servicing , workshop found out a leak in fuel tank causing a strong petrol smell. Quoted 2.7k to replace the whole fuel tank. Informed dealer about this issue , dealer giving bo chup attitude quoting my driving style damaged the fuel tank and saying he has both STA and agent's report to support his claims of saying vehicle was in good condition upon delivery Went down to case , they recommend to bring this case to small claims tribunal Question is Is there any chance to win this case if I bring it up to small claims tribunal? Is this covered under the lemon law?

Those who are not interested or against gamble, please don't read this post and need not to make your comment. I am a regular slot player at RWS, 2 big happening took place within this 2 months and I must say I am very very buay song liao. 2 super mega Jackpot prizes range 2.8Million and 2.88Million were released to 2 non-slot players. This 2 winners hold highest membership card and don't even play slot. They are table games high rollers. While many slot lovers are chasing after the super mega jackpot for years and why did this 2 winners know when to play, which machine to play, what time to play and hit the super jackpot at once. KELONG until so obvious! Sibeh bauy kam guan. And there is this Chinese syndicate that always come and hijack the Jackpot prizes. There are few areas where Jackpot prizes are clearly listed that it MUST release when it reaches the cap of $500, $3000, $30000 or $50,000. Whenever any for this jackpot prizes are closed to the cap, the syndicate members will appear and occupied most of the machines and hijack the prize away. The question is, why does the casino allows this group of people to enter? They are all PRC, and they always come with thick capital. Are they doing money laundering or employed by the casino?

Lets say I won the Subaru Forester 2.0 car in the SPH GSS contest. It comes without COE and other smaller fees. Average OMV is S$18671 from one motoring. MI selling price from sg-carmaart is S$129800 Cat.B now is S$72501 what is the possible option? Which one is better? I already have a one year old car currrently, honda jazz then serves it's purpose well. 1) Sell my current car, loan remaining $40,000. Maybe can sell at $70,000, so have cash on hand $30,000. Self bid for the COE to register the Forester, and drive. Or 2) Sell the car away for $41,000, at 2.2 of OMV value, if possible at all, and keep the prize money. Or 3) Self bid Coe and use it as second car for my wife to drive to work and the kids to night/weekends classes. Or 4) keep it as a race car for the changi race track. Anyone knows how can I not register it. I guess the contest rules could state that the car must register by certain date, etc. Or 5) register it and then scrap it immediately and sell it for parts....can get $41,000 for the parts? Anyone in such situation before? What is a better situation. With the high COE now......seems like a lousy position to be in to win a car in a contest.

Share an interesting news article that appeared in malaysian newspapers, regarding an award-winning teacher who shares the "secret" of how he maintains a high-level of performance in his job. Should MOE invite him over to give talks to demoralised local teachers??? http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=...&sec=nation By the way, in the ensuing hoo-haa over the news, this poor guy came under fire from several quarters - but luckily was backed up by his family, teachers' union and state education authorities in malaysia.

It is Jenson Button's "really intelligent approach" that is paying off so far in 2010, according to his former boss Ross Brawn. After two wins on damp tracks so far in 2010, the reigning world champion is currently leading the world championship. But throughout the winter, most experts predicted that Button, 30, would be blown away at least initially by Lewis Hamilton. His friend David Coulthard wrote in his latest Telegraph column: "I told you so." Brawn, who replaced Button with Michael Schumacher this year but insists the Briton switched to McLaren for the new challenge, told Reuters that F1 is again seeing the "natural Jenson" who won many races early in 2009. Brawn said the more conservative and tense driver in the second half of the season was the result of the "pressures" of the championship battle. "He's not looked necessarily quicker than Lewis, but he's doing a better job and he's getting the results," he added. Former long time McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa said most paddock regulars did not expect Button to have the upper hand over Hamilton. "Hardly anyone counted on that," he told the Swiss newspaper Blick. "He (Button) has stayed calm and had very few problems with the tyres. But I know Hamilton's strengths. He will soon wake up and strike back," de la Rosa predicted. Indeed, when asked to name his picks for the eventual title battle, the Spaniard answered: "Good question, difficult answer. "Hamilton, Vettel or Alonso -- and not necessarily in that order!"

STOMPer Angry Mummy is frustrated that this mother in white blocked her baby's way to the finishing line during the Huggies Baby Crawling contest held yesterday (May 6) at the Singapore Expo. The organisers had apparently announced earlier that parents weren't allowed on the green mat, but went ahead to award the prize to the mother in white and her baby. In her email: "I had a really bad experience today and I just want to vent it out. I brought my 10-month-old DS to the Huggies Baby Crawling contest today at the motherhood exhibition@expo. "My baby boy did really well during the first round. Yes, I was proud because he knew exactly what to do. "He was the first to cross the finishing line and got through to the semi finals. He did well again in the semi-finals and was through to the final round. "The MC announced during the rounds that parents were not allowed on the green mat where the babies were supposed to crawl through as it was the finishing line. If any parent broke this rule, their baby would be disqualified from the contest. "If you watch the video clip, you
