I really like salmon but don't eat it that often because the missus isn't keen. Not wanting to post in the makan thread but thought these two videos were interesting. The second video even though it is long is worth watching or so I thought.

The real McCoy, not some large monitor lizard claimed to be one swimming in some Pasir Ris river not too long ago. From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...ngei_buloh.html Posted on 16 May 2012 Wild crocodiles spotted at Sungei Buloh A STOMPer spotted two wild crocodiles resting at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve in the span of a week. Also known as estuarine or saltwater crocodiles, they have been spotted several times at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, although these sightings are not common. They are considered indigenous to the region and can grow up to a length of 8m long, with a diet consisting mostly of fish. Crocodiles are often confused with Malayan water monitor lizards, which are shy, non-venomous reptiles that sometimes make an appearance in large canals. The STOMPer wrote: "This 1.3 metre crocodile was seen resting last weekend at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. "Another crocodile, more than 2 metres long, was also seen basking in the sun earlier in the day."

This guy tua ki liao.....sure kana fine very heavy. 10 years back, that person who got caught is my friend brother....also kana fine heavily by the AVA. ============================================ SINGAPORE - The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) seized over 30 wild animals from an individual living in an HDB flat on June 3, its largest inland seizure of wildlife since 2002. The seized animals include highly endangered and threatened species like the slow loris, marmoset, Indian star tortoise and ball python. Other animals seized include three black-tailed prairie dogs, two sailfin dragons and five ornate horned frogs These animals are not allowed to be kept as pets in Singapore. The seized animals have been sent to the Wildlife Reserves Singapore for proper care and custody. A man is currently assisting AVA in the investigations. In Singapore, a permit is required for any import and export/re-export of animals. In addition, as Singapore is a signatory to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), it is an offence to be in possession or to trade in any illegally imported or acquired CITES species. If found guilty, the offender shall be liable, on conviction, to a maximum fine of $50,000 per specimen (not to exceed an aggregate of $500,000) and/or jail term of up to 2 years. AVA would like to remind the public not to import or keep wild animals as pets as demand for such animals would fuel illegal wildlife trade. Also, wild animals are not suitable pets as some may transmit zoonotic diseases to humans and can be a public safety risk if mishandled or if they escape into our dense urban environment. Should members of the public have information on illegal wildlife activities, please contact AVA at 6325 7625 to make a report immediately. All information shared with AVA will be kept strictly confidential.

ST Forum Jun 9, 2011 Sent on a wild goose chase for iPad ON MONDAY morning, I spent a great deal of time searching for a store selling the new iPad 2 and after being told that it was sold out at all the Apple stores, I surfed the Internet to find a promotional deal with SingTel and called to make inquiries. A customer service officer told me it was available on a limited basis at some stores on a walk-in, first come, first served basis. He said I would have the greatest chance at the ComCentre outlet near Killiney Road as this was the headquarters. It was important to me as I wanted to present this to my daughter for her birthday yesterday and as a graduation gift. So I cancelled an important appointment and got to ComCentre around noon on Monday only to learn that the iPad 2 was completely sold out and was not even available when they opened that day. I called SingTel's customer service again and made the same inquiry only to be told the same thing by the second customer service officer - that if I went down to ComCentre, the device would be available for walk-in customers on a first come, first served basis. I was very unhappy and disappointed with this wrong information and for being misled into believing that there would be a chance to purchase the item. In actual fact, the iPad 2 was not available for any walk-in customer and I was sent on a wild goose chase. I spoke with the customer service manager, who apologised and offered to compensate me by waiving my mobile phone charges for two months. It is completely inexcusable for a company like SingTel to provide incorrect information that resulted in loss of my time and expense and caused me great inconvenience. This "miscommunication" between the outlets and the customer service hotline is totally unacceptable. Susan Yeo (Mrs)

Malaysia's warning to highway drivers: Don't honk at elephants The Associated Press Sunday, March 25, 2007 KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: Elephants are straying onto one of Malaysia's main highways, prompting the government to warn drivers not to trigger a possible rampage by honking at the animals, a news report said Sunday. The warning came after a motorist claimed to have been chased for about 50 meters (160 feet) earlier this month by a herd of elephants that had been blocking part of the East-West Highway. No injuries were reported in the incident. Sazmi Miah, parliamentary secretary of the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry, said elephants are often spotted crossing the 125-kilometer (78-mile) highway, which cuts through forested territory in peninsular Malaysia. "It is safer for motorists to stop their vehicles and wait for the elephants to go into the jungle before continuing their journey," Sazmi was quoted as saying by the national news agency, Bernama. Sazmi, speaking to reporters in northeastern Kelantan state, said honking at the elephants could cause them to become agitated and go on a rampage instead of leaving peacefully. Officials will put up signboards along the highway cautioning motorists to watch out for crossing elephants, especially at night, Sazmi added. Calls to Sazmi's office in Putrajaya, Malaysia's administrative capital, were not immediately answered Sunday. ----- first some training this is a female elephant - u can b stomped to death these are male elephants - can flare temper for no apparent reason. only cure is smell of $$. this is a giant rat, pls make no mistake.

New Civic Answers Call Of the Wild here's only one word to describe this car: showstopper. Honda hopes the model will change its image forever - and judging by the reception the all-new Civic received at its Geneva Motor Show unveiling, the company is well on the way to achieving its goal. The wild features won't be toned down when the production version is revealed at the Frankfurt exhibition in September. According to the hatchback's designer Toshiyuki Okumoto, it will be virtually identical. Of course, regular readers of Auto Express already know that, because we published exclusive spy shots in issue 834. Okumoto was given the job of re-styling the firm's best-selling model after winning an internal competition between Honda's European and Jap-anese design teams. He's part of the latter outfit, and explained: "I wanted to create a car that would look unique and original. The current Civic is very conservative, and it's important for this version to be the opposite of that." Listening to the gasps of the crowd during the unveiling at the Swiss expo, Okumoto has succeeded. Our spy shots of the newcomer revealed it would be lower and wider than the present model - but no one was expecting the face hidden beneath the black plastic cladding to be quite so radical. What really grabs the attention is the single visor-style transparent lens cover spanning the width of the car's nose. Combined with sharp bonnet creases and a deep front bumper that has an integrated splitter, this gives the Honda a truly aggressive look. It's so far removed. from the current-generation Civic that, apart from the badge on the back, it's impossible to tell they're related. The daring new design is continued round the side, where the front wheel-arches feature a distinctive kick-up to meet the bonnet. Meanwhile, the high shoulder line, reverse-angle C-pillar and curved roof give the fresh five-door a coup
