Lexus to introduce a supercharged GS350 F Sport at 2012 SEMA
FaezClutchless posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
When someone is considering a performance mid-size luxury sedan, probably they will look at something like the BMW M5 or the Audi S6. If that person prefers a Japanese car, then he or she will be left with very little choices. How little are those choices? Probably close to nothing. But, fret not because Japanese luxury automaker, Lexus is bringing a supercharged GS350 F Sport to SEMA. And on top of that, the company might consider adding a more powerful version of the GS in the near future. The supercharged GS350 F Sport is a collaboration between Lexus and Californian auto tuner, VIP Auto Salon. The car receives a custom Apexi supercharger kit. Other than this, an Apexi throttle recalibration system and a dual exhaust pipe that stretches from the headers all the way to the back are added too. To cope with the extra horsepower, a Brembo High Performance GT brake kit and RSR coilovers are fitted on all four corners. 20 inch Vossen wheels replace the stock ones and the wheels are wrapped in Yokohama S Drive tyres. On the outside, the car is fitted with a custom made aero bodykit from Japanese tuner Wald International. The kit consists of a lip spoiler, side skirts and roof and trunk lid spoilers. No power figures were released at the moment but my guess it would be around the mid 400bhp mark. Just last year, Lexus unveiled the GS350 F Sport at SEMA. Although it may have a different look from the normal GS but in terms of performance; it is pretty much the same. Consumers might not be impressed with a car like that especially with a sporty sounding name. The introduction of the supercharged GS350 F Sport is probably Lexus-

Capturing the essence of the original Skyline GT-R: Wald Black Bison Nissan GT-R
Rigval posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
The current R35 Nissan GT-R is a car that is admired and adored by many. This is a car that could basically take on a 997 Porsche 911 Turbo and many other current supercars on most roads and win. The other thing about the R35 GT-R no longer carries the 'Skyline' tag. It isn't a Skyline anymore unlike the previous R32, R33, R34 Skyline GT-Rs. But Nissan is adamant that this GT-R still has the same heritage as the cars mentioned above in that it shares the same sort of all-wheel drive chassis (albeit with more technology). I believe it does as it follows the same overall look as the earlier GT-Rs. but if you really want to cement the heritage completely, I believe you have to get Wald International's Nissan GT-R Sports Line Black Bison Edition body kit. Wald International is a custom tuner that somehow dabbles in every type of car. From the Toyota Alphard MPVs to Mercedes Benzes to Nissan GT-Rs. You can also stare at amazement as they also body kit Rolls Royce Phantoms and Maseratis without fear. But their Nissan GT-R Sports Line Black Bison Edition is very tasteful in my opinion. It captures the essence of the first Nissan Skyline GT-R, the KPGC-10 from the 1970s with that simple black rear wheel arch extension and it works. The R35 GT-R looks like a modernized version of the 1st Skyline GT-R because of this. It links the first with the current one and I love Wald International for coming up with such a simple styling tweak that totally works wonders to the car. Wald International's Black Bison body kit (I still can't seem to fathom why they call their tuning range 'Black Bison') for the GT-R consists of a carbon fiber front bumper spoiler with a grille cover/front lip/side duct/under cover and fog lamps, FRP Side skirts, carbon fiber rear diffuser, carbon fiber boot spoiler, carbon rear wing flap, FRP rear over fender and 22inch Portofino rims in matte black finish. No. This body kit isn't all that new. It has been around for a while but I've just realized how complete this Nissan GT-R looks with it. Sometimes a tuner that does over the top most of the time can come up with a total gem.- 1 comment

[extract] The Black Bison series must be used by Wald International for all of its humongous, large, monstrous sized cars that it kits out. This means the large Mercedes Benz S-Class that I wrote about earlier and now it means a Bentley Continental Flying Spur that we shall now name the

Toyota Hybrid statistics, the Toyota Prius and the WALD Toyota Prius
Rigval posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Good news for people who like Toyota, their hybrid cars and statistics in general. Toyota had recently announced that by the end of July 2010, they have managed to sell 1,000,000 hybrid vehicles in Japan and this becomes a total of about 2,680,000 units of hybrids worldwide. It seems that Toyota had launched its first hybrid vehicle in 1997. It was a Coaster Hybrid EV minibus and after that the floodgates opened up. Toyota then launched the first generation Prius which was so popular among a lot of Hollywood stars so that they look like they're going green and to date, the Prius has consistently topped the car sales charts in Japan (partly due to the tax breaks given and partly due to increased consumer awareness over there). Of course Toyota also produces various other hybrid passenger cars like the Lexus LS600h and also Camry hybrids. But of course, the Prius is the darling of Toyota's hybrid movement. Anyway, the fact is that Toyota claims that their hybrids to date has helped offset 4,000,000 tons of CO2 emissions in Japan and another 15,000,000 tons worldwide. Each hybrid offset is compared to a car of similar class and size i.e a Lexus hybrid against a fully petrol powered Lexus, a Prius against a Corolla and so on. Of course, it would also depend on how the hybrid is driven. If it were driven by Lead Foot Larry, it may not help the environment as much as Toyota envisages. But it would still help a little due to tech like energy recuperating brake system that is used in these sort of cars. It is because of this sort of statistics that Toyota intends to sell about 1,000,000 hybrids a year. This will help it reach manufacturer emissions control regulations that is actually much more important to their (or any other manufacturer -
For some, a W221 Mercedes Benz S-Class is the epitome of luxurious transport and it is used mainly by the captains of the industry as a means to comfortably ferry them from one power meeting to another. Of course at the other end of the same playing field are pop stars, rap artists, premier league footballers, movie stars, the Russian mafia, Yakuzas that can actually afford such a car but think that it looks too sedate for them. For them you bring in people like Japanese tuning firm Wald so that they can make the car have more street cred. This basically means lots more of the motorsport look by adding diffusers and spoilers as well as those big steam roller sized wheels which have rubber band tires with extremely stiff ride wrecking sidewalls to the car coupled with an extremely lowered ride height, either from stiffer springs or an adjustment towards the air suspension (neither of which benefits ride comfort too). But boy does the W211 S-Class look good. A front bumper/spoiler setup that looks like it came from a Brabus CLS with daytime running LEDs and side slits, different front fenders with slits behind the front wheels, fat side skirts and that rear bumper/diffuser with slits at each side complete with...wait...the usual quad tail exhaust set up that seems to be the norm with all of these performance tuners. The only difference is the quad pipes are oval and look like they
