I started smelling fuel outside of my car after a full tank refill. The smell is strongest at the wheel arch on the passenger side. THe smell would go away after the fuel levels goes below 3/4. I thought this was an isolated issue but doing a google search, people in the US are filing a class action suit to get MB to issue a recall. Has anyone in Singapore had this problem and has MB fixed it? The repair cost in the US is around the region of $2000 USD. Not sure of the price in Singapore but I shall be going to the dealer very soon. Check out the websites. If we can get more publicity then perhaps MB singapore will assist. http://jalopnik.com/...-from-customers http://www.prweb.com...rweb9725192.htm http://www.sandiego-...complaint.shtml Forum discussion: http://mbworld.org/f...11-e-class.html

Hi all, I came across a year 2006 E200K (W211) with an extremely high mileage of around 200,000 km. The condition looks good (from the photos) but I have not test drive yet. Would like to hear from fellow bros here on your take on this. Also, any E200K owners here can advice on the likely list of wear and tear parts associated with this mileage? Thank you in advance !

No $$ to buy new model so considering old model. Both are 2,500cc. 2007-08 models for both are similarly priced. Would you choose E230(W211) with V6 or BMW 525i(E60) with IL6? Why? I've test driven some time ago a C230 (same engine as E230), and a 325i(same engine as 525i) and my impression (if memory serves me correctly) is that the IL6 for the 325 is more willing to rev, more responsive. Creamy smooth mated to its 6-speed gearbox. It also seems that 325i has much better sound insulation which I can hardly hear any enging noise most of the time. I've no idea about the gear system of the Merc but the engine noise of the V6 in the C230 is much more intruding to the drive cabin perhaps due to sound insulation? The engine note is also much sweeter for the 325i while that for the C230 is more coarse. Shouldn't Merc be very good at V6 as IL6 to BMW? Besides engine, what other consideration you have? Care to share? Cheers!

Hi All, Saw an ad in papers by PI offering the previous model E200 (W211) for $148k, got quite some colors/units, maybe clearing remaining stock. I know many fall for the new E-class ... but looking at the price factor, it's on par (if not cheaper) with the C180 from C&C ($150k plus?) ... So which is a better choice in your opinion ... I bet E200 is surely a more complete car than C180, but the "PI" fear exist ...

Hi guys, heard from my dad when changing brake pads for his e-class at 40k, he'll have to change the brake discs as well.. Is it true? He told me something about the discs being environmentally friendly, thus wears easily. He changed his rear pads and discs for 500 bucks. is it normal? I think the front would cost more also Thanks for reading!

From previous experience in Hyundai, Nissan etc type of cars, the servicing have always been somewhat like: 1K service - breakin period 5K service - another free service (mineral oil) 10K service - tech advise top up for synthetic oil. Henceforth, every 10K synthetic oil change. But with E200K, it comes with Assyst Plus computer, and it seems it will recommend servicing based on driving profile and conditions of engine. Right now, it is recomending me to service only at around 20K, or another 13K to go now that my mileage is 7K. From other forums, they stated Assyst Plus will also prompt for service based on dates, i.e. before 1 yr interval is up if mileage is too low. Interesting... What's your experience for Conti cars like Mercs, BMWs etc?

http://www.mbdoctor.com/ This guy is amazing. Offers original Europe style Merc Command Unit to enable playing of DVD, MP3, and even rear cam etc. How I wish we have such pro's over here! Seems the E is offered here with boring Audio20 only. Why can't we have the Command option with DVD, sat navigation, MP3 and others? C&C should be a bit more adventurous and offer more options for us. Check out the gallery as well at the linked website. Amazing.
