  2. https://www.mercedes-benz.com/en/vehicles/passenger-cars/mercedes-benz-concept-cars/vision-avtr/ As fake as this car may look, it is 100% real. ' VISION AVTR – inspired by AVATAR. The name of the groundbreaking concept vehicle stands not only for the close collaboration in developing the show car together with the AVATAR team but also for ADVANCED VEHICLE TRANSFORMATION. This concept vehicle embodies the vision of Mercedes-Benz designers, engineers and trend researchers for mobility in the distant future. Extremely confident – and completely without emissions. With its four high-performance and near-wheel-built electric motors, the VISION AVTR embodies a particularly agile implementation of the vision of a dynamic luxury saloon. With a combined engine power of more than 350 kW, the VISION AVTR sets a new benchmark for EQ Power. Thanks to the intelligent and fully variable torque distribution, the power of the four fully individually controllable motors is not only managed in the best possible way in terms of driving dynamics, but above all in a highly efficient manner. The innovative all-wheel drive with torque vectoring enables completely new freedoms and guarantees driving dynamics at the highest level while at the same time providing the best possible active safety. This means that each wheel can be driven separately and depending on the driving situation. Due to the possibility to drive the front and rear axles simultaneously or in opposite ways, the VISION AVTR can move sideways by approx. 30 degrees, in contrast to conventional vehicles. The so-called “crab movement” gives the concept vehicle a reptile-like appearance even in its movement. Organic battery technology. The VISION AVTR was designed in line with its innovative electric drive. This is based on a particularly powerful and compact high-voltage battery. For the first time, the revolutionary battery technology is based on graphene-based organic cell chemistry and thus completely eliminates rare, toxic and expensive earths such as metals. Electromobility thus becomes independent of fossil resources. An absolute revolution is also the recyclability by composting, which is 100% recyclable due to the materiality. As a result, Mercedes-Benz underlines the high relevance of a future circular economy in the raw materials sector. Exceptional fast charging capability. In addition to an exponentially high energy density – compared to today’s battery systems with up to 1,200 Wh/litre – the technology also impresses with its exceptional fast charging capability via automated, conductive charging technology. This means that the battery will be fully recharging in less than 15 minutes. The innovative technology also allows maximum flexibility with regard to the construction space: with a local minimum of 94 millimetres, the battery adapts ideally to the shared space vehicle concept, thus maximising the multifunctional interior. With a capacity of around 110 kWh, the VISION AVTR enables an electric range of more than 700 kilometres. By recuperating during roll-out and braking, the high-voltage battery can be recharged with a higher efficiency than established systems while driving and thus contributes to the high energy efficiency of the overall system. Masterpiece of efficiency. At Mercedes-Benz, the consideration of efficiency goes far beyond the drive concept, because with increasing digitalisation, the performance of the large number of so-called secondary consumers also comes into focus – along with their efficient energy supply, without negatively affecting the drive power of the vehicle itself. Energy consumption per computing operation is already a key target in the development of new computer chips. This trend will continue in the coming years with the growth of sensors and artificial intelligence in the automotive industry. The neuro-inspired approach of the VISION AVTR, including so-called neuromorphic hardware, promises to minimise the energy requirements of sensors, chips and other components to a few watts. Their energy supply is provided by the cached current of the integrated solar plates on the back of the VISION AVTR. The 33 multi-directionally movable surface elements act as “bionic flaps”. Interior and exterior merge. For the first time, Mercedes-Benz has worked with a completely new design approach in the design of the VISION AVTR. The holistic concept combines the design disciplines interior, exterior and UX from the first sketch. Man and human perception are the starting point of a design process from the inside out. The design process begins with the experience of the passengers and consciously focuses on the perception and needs of the passengers. The goal was to create a car that prolongs the perception of its passengers. It was also a matter of creating an immersive experience space in which passengers connect with each other, with the vehicle and the surrounding area in a unique way. Sustainable materials. Large areas such as the back shell of the seat and the sky are decorated with a colour-changing fabric inspired by the colour world of the sea. Depending on the light, the textile changes its colour from dark blue to a subtle light blue. These seats are refined by the vegan DINAMICA® leather. DINAMICA® is the first and only microfibre that guarantees environmental sustainability throughout the entire production cycle. It is recycled material made from old clothing, flags and PET plastic bottles. During production, attention is paid to low pollutant emissions and low energy consumption. Thanks to its versatility, maximum performance and high quality, DINAMICA® is suitable for use in luxurious car interiors. It also guarantees slip resistance for passengers on the seats. The softness of the material gives the occupants a “welcome home” feeling. Intuitive control. The VISION AVTR already responds to the approach of the passengers by visualising the energy and information flow of the environment with digital neurons that flow through the grille through the wheels to the rear area. The first interaction in the interior between man and vehicle happens completely intuitively via the control unit: by placing the hand on the centre console, the interior comes to life and the vehicle recognises the driver by his breathing. This is made visible on the instrument panel and on the user’s hand. The VISION AVTR thus establishes a biometric connection with the driver and increases his awareness of the environment. The digital neurons flow from the interior into the exterior and visualise the flow of energy and information. For example, when driving, the neurons flow over the outside of the vehicle. When changing direction, the energy flows to the corresponding side of the vehicle. The vehicle as an immersive experience space. The visual connection between passengers and the outside world is created by the curved display module, which replaces a conventional dashboard. The outside world around the vehicle and the surrounding area is shown in real-time 3D graphics and at the same time shows what is happening on the road in front of the vehicle. Combined with energy lines, these detailed real-time images bring the interior to life and allow passengers to discover and interact with the environment in a natural way with different views of the outside world. Three wonders of nature – the Huangshan Mountains of China, the 115-metre-high Hyperion Tree found in the United States and the pink salt Lake Hillier from Australia – can be explored in detail. Passengers become aware of various forces of nature that are not normally visible to the human eye, such as magnetic fields, bioenergy or ultraviolet light. Bionic formal language. When the boundaries between vehicle and living beings are lifted, Mercedes-Benz combines luxury and sustainability and works to make the vehicles as resource-saving as possible. With the VISION AVTR, the brand is now showing how a vehicle can blend harmoniously into its environment and communicate with it. In the ecosystem of the future, the ultimate luxury is the fusion of human and nature with the help of technology. The VISION AVTR is thus an example of sustainable luxury in the field of design. As soon as you get in, the car becomes an extension of your own body and a tool to discover the environment much as in the film humans can use avatars to extend and expand their abilities. Here is a video of someone driving it:
  3. Just receive the new len on my spec ( I use back the old frame) tried it on and give me severe headache. The shop guy measured again my vision and said the prescription is correct. He ask me to proceed to wear it for my eyes to adapt to it. I wear it for a one day and really cannot take it anymore. Took 2 panadol and still having headache. anyone know where can I get a free eye exam? A few shops I asked said I need to pay $20. Worst come to worst I need to go back to the shop and demand to change my lens.
  4. Came across this. Not sure if posted before, or should be merged elsewhere - even though i tried searching already... Try it... see if you are normal or near-sighted...

  9. Sharing a personal experience to serve as a warning to all mcfers who're looking for cars during this period. I know that sales person do overpromise, but i didnt know that they can literally "LIE" to a customer outrightly right from the AD they posted. This is the car that i had "bought", agreement signed, deposit paid. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...810&DL=2033 TWO lies in the AD : 1. Car is DEFINITELY not entitled for 100% loan becuz it's owned by the sales person, who claims to be the boss of the shop (happen that my friend, who is also in this trade, knows the boss of Vision Cars. Found out abt this at the end of the whole saga). This is eventually verified via the log card of the car, registered under the sales person name Edwin, not Vision Cars. 2. Car is NOT FULLY service in Sttugart. Before sales, tell me car 100% service with agent. After i signed and paid, called and checked with Sttugart and cant find the registered car plate record, then claim that car service outside after warranthy. Note that car is reg in 2008 (5yrs car), Porsche local warranthy is 5yrs with Sttugart. So 1 lie after another. Summary of the story : I bought the car at a very good deal of $155K (initial asking price $185K) after the SA quoted me a wrong selling price. Although they discovered the mistake, still agreed to sell the car to me, claiming wanting to let go the car within the 60days period and becuz it's the "BOSS" car, but wanting me to pay a $5k deposit. As the deal was good & car condition was pretty good too, i agred and paid the deposit. 2days later, SA told me all local banks only approve 50% of my loan (which is weird cuz i only receive call from ONE bank.) if want 100% must fo for Hitachi/Tokyo. Thinking that maybe the loan comm is higher and the deal is good, i agreed to it. (i opted for 90% loan, and my income wont have prob for that.) No news, updates or even calls from HItchi/Tokyo for verification for 5days, then suddenly, SA told me loan not approved, wanted to refund my deposit immediately. Getting pissed, i told him i will get the loan myself. He said can, but want a 3.5% admin fee on the loan. Found it ridiculous, but even with that still quite a good deal so i agreed again. Asked for the car e-trf record cuz my own contact needs that to process my loan. Gave me the log card instead. Only then i realise that the car is not qualified for 100%. Dont understand why did he created so much trouble!! i admit although i was feeling pissed, still tempted by the selling price of the car so told him fine, just treat it that i'm now buying from a direct seller. My friend who does loan wanted to try for me on the max % of loan and i was considering a 50% loan since it's a good deal. Asked for a photocopy of his NRIC, since i'm now buying directly from him. Insisted that dont need his NRIC, even get an admin gal to answer my call on his behalf. Saying they did many loan applications before, there is no need to get the seller NRIC. (Clarified with both my friends and a broker who does loan, if buying from car dealer, can use the log card for loan application, but buying from direct seller, definitely will need the NRIC, at least a phocopied). Finally, i gave up and agreed to cancel the sales. Got back my deposit the following day Seriously even till now, i still couldnt understand why did the 2 champion SA (Sherman & Edwin) do all these stunts??? 1. Cheat my deposit? well they refunded me...prob also becuz i made them wrote every single details on the sales agreemenet so this could be the initialy motive? 2. Selling price too low? Well i agreed to that, then DONT AGREE TO THE SALES right from the beginning lah!!! Why f**king waste my time???? geezzz this part really really pissed me off.... 3. I called up the banks and turned out they only submitted my application to ONE bank, and they claimed that ALL didnt go thru. This is the 3rd time i'm buying a car but it's definitely the worst experience! Friend told me that could be a blessing in disguise becuz i could have ended up with a car that looks nice but full of sh**...it's better to get pissed now then later... P.S I have a copy of all agreement signed as well as the cheque paid to Vision Cars, just in case if u think i made it up..
  10. Hi I need help in reading the final page of STA report which is the Vision X3 report May I know what is it? Image as per below Thanks in advance!
  11. Anyone using Topex wiper 28" 700mm? Fitted a complete set and found it heavy & noisy?
  12. Anyone installed Philips Diamond Vision headlights? Is it compliant with LTA? Can it be easily/safely installed anywhere or will it potentially short circuit the electronics of the car? (heard from my car agent that some people installs HID on conti cars and end up short circuit the car)...
  13. [extract] For those who drive, they are aware of a car's blind spots, and if you ride a motorcycle, you would know that being or passing through that blind spot could be scary at times. A motorcyclist would not know if the other motorist is aware of his or her presence. The side mirrors on our car, including the rear view mirror, does not offer much view in terms of blind spot areas and we often have to check for any passing motorists before we make a turn or switch to another lane. A university professor in the United States has found a solution to this problem with an invention of a mirror that literally eliminates the blind spot in a driver
  14. Hi all, I'm looking at a mini in car DVR but it doesn't come with night vision. Is this night vision meant for the screen? Does it make a big difference between one with and the other without a night vision. Appreciate your advice/comment. Thank you very much. Regards,

  17. Hi bros/sis, I just bought a 2nd hand hyundai verna. the previous owner had installed cool n lite solar films when car was new. Day time driving is fine, but when i drive at night, i realised that for all the headlights and traffic lights that are 'shining' at me, there is a smaller duplication of the light both on top and below the original light source. This effectively means there is 'triple vision' when it comes to any light source. This is however not so for the windows. For the rear windscreen, i couldn't confirm yet, as the 'heat lines' there means the lights would be slightly distorted anyway. I cannot be sure whether this triple vision thingy is definitely caused by the solar film, or could it be caused by the previous owner applying rain repellent (like Rain-Ex) on the windscreen. (the windscreen does seem to have Rain-Ex applied before, although it looks like at least some weeks/months old). Anyone here has any similar experience before, or know what could have caused this? Thanks in advance.
  18. Anyone know what do camp vision do..and have any experience as a volunteer with camp vision before?

  23. Received this message from a friend of mine, thought it might be interesting to share the info with you... We are not sure why it is so effective, just try this method when it rains heavily. This method was told by a police friend who had experienced and confirmed it. It is useful even driving at night. Most of the motorists would turn on HIGH or FASTEST SPEED of the wipers during heavy downpour, yet the visibiilty in front of the windscreen is still bad..... In the event you face such a situation, just try your SUN GLASSES (any model will do), and miracle! All of a sudden, your visibility in front of your windscreen is perfectly clear, as if there is no rain. Make sure you always have a pair of SUN GLASSES in your car, as you are not only helping yourself to drive safely with good vision, but also might save your friend's life by giving him this idea. Try it yourself and share it with your friends!
