What is this VVTI gear? My toyota is 3 rd old, yesterday while driving suddenly the engine indicator light on. I sent to BM for checking and said is VVTI gear spoilt. Need to change at S$800 !!!. Luckily my wife I argue and they give free since I service during the warranty period and the car got problem after few days out from the warranty. IS the VVTI gear easy to spoil? The customer service said is due to poor maintenance. I told him that all my maintenance are from Toyota...he just keep quiet and say...aiyah sometimes it happened. Got like that meh?

Toyota has released the third generation Toyota Vios at the Bangkok Motor Show. The compact budget sedan wears the brand's new corporate face as seen in newer models such as the RAV4. The higher-end variants are equipped with projector head lamps. Measuring 4,410mm long, 1,700mm wide and 1,475mm tall, the new Vios is a good 110mm longer than its predecessor. If my memory served me correctly, the new car is even longer than the last made-in-Japan Corolla we had in Singapore. Sad to say, the new Vios still uses the same 1.5-litre 1NZ-FE engine producing exactly the same 109bhp and 141Nm of torque as before. The engine is mated to, as you would have guessed, an optional four-speed automatic transmission. A five-speed manual is standard. The power train seemed to have remained the same since the first generation Vios. On the inside, the new Vios gets a four-speaker audio system with MP3/USB/AUX connectivity. The instrument panel has moved from the center to right, right in front of the driver, and has a sporty binocular design.

I'm working Middle East, and rent car is Corolla 1.8A, Dual VVTi, similar Singapore Altis 1.8, in Middle East road condition FC only 11+km/L, 80% express way and speed over 120km/h though Dual VVTi should give better FC, because my civic 1.8M also can give me 12+km/L in Singapore condition has dual vvti owner got same expreience

Lately, heard that Cutting of VVTI, MIVEC or VTEC wire and used unichip to tune, can tremenously increase the HP up to 30 HP There is even a Colt Plus Turbo cut the MIVEC and HP become 200Plus Not sure how true? Or had any brother done before?

When we asked the C&C salesman about the Lancer's old engine (same engine as 2001 Lancer 1.6), he told us that the Lancer engine is a reliable workhorse and can be serviced at any workshops outside & workshops love the Lancer engine for its simplicity. He added "... In comparison, the Toyota VVTi & Honda VTEC engines are more complicated and need special diagnostic equipment to tune and so is not advisable to serrvice at outside workshops as they do not have these special diagnostic equipment." Is this true? I have seen many Toyota and Honda cars being serviced outside workshops too.

Hi, anyone cares to talk more about these 4 differences in LAY MAN TERMS >.. what I know is that for Mivec and Vtec they are using 2 cam profile where at 5500 RPM (can be adjusted) it kicks in and open the 3rd cam to allow more fuel and air to combust ... is that true? But cannot find anything for VVL leh ... By the way anyone know which car in singapore using VTEC, Mivec, VVTi and VVL ?

Just fixed a vacuum gauge for my Estima (Toyota 2AZ-FE) It has a tendency to go into a rapid flutter (fluctuation is about 5 in Hg) though it goes through the normal movements in response to the throttle Is this normal? There are times when the flutter is absent and the needle just moves smoothly. Can't notice any pattern
