Am driving a 7yrs old Mit Lancer GLX with mileage of about 135k. Tyre age is about 1.5years. Recently noticed that my care tyre wear off unevenly. The wear only happen on the front left outer side wall. The front right tyre is not. What could be the problem? Do I need wheel alignment? Or is the suspension kaput? (still in stock since day 1). Thanks in advance.

2 different workshops commented that my tyres are uneven. Not uneven wear, but what i believe is called the ribs (?) are uneven when I brush my hand across the tyre. Some higher some lower. What is the cause huh? And what is the effect? 1 year old tyres, probably ran 20k. I was asked if I feel the tyres are noisy, hence I assume only nosier drive and no other danger?

For the past several months my Picinc (w/Michelin PP2 215/55/16) experienced side slip whenever the car went thru an uneven road patch at low speed. My front tyres worn pretty fast with wear on the outside and was advised to change (done only about 45k, did regular tyre rotation, alignemt seem OK & light footed). Passenger on the driver side complained increased in perceived giddyness and car seem to bounce more thru humps. Went to Autobacs and they recommend changing the front suspension for about S$1000 w/OEM toyota parts. Went to a regular service centre in AMK P2 and he too recommend a suspension change. Today went down to Toyota Ubi for a non-booking check and the inhouse service manager was kind enough to ask his car tester to drive me around for a road evaulation. He played with the Steering Hard and we can hear funny noise and observed loose play on the steering. He quite confident that the Steering Axles joint had worn and recommend a complete replacement. The front suspension got to be changed as well and the 4 tyres as well follow with a 4-wheels alignment. So today I went to replace my 4 tyres at Beng Seng. I wanted my PP2 but it had changed to PP3 @ S$260/pc (Made in Thailand). I checked the GR90 and the lady boss highly recommended it and I changed to the GR90 for S$215/pc (made on Japan, price will increase again) I'm supposed to bring down my car to Toyota for the rest of the replacement tomorrow and will cost me around S$5k (w/some discount) Any comment on the pricing ? Thanks.

I encountered a new problem upon reaching Port Dickson 2 days back: 1) Difficult to start - the engine normally just fires up at the turn of the ignition, but after parking for 1 hour at the resort carpark, the engine refused despite a few series of cranking. At the end, I got the car started after applying gas through the pedal. It's still the same today. 2) Idling is uneven - when in the past the engine will turn at 850rpm thereabouts (with or without aircon), now the rpm fluctuates between 700~1000, depending on the aircon. Vibration can also be pronouncely felt the cabin, when in the past such intrusions were completely absent. Everything goes back to normal once on the run - no power loss, smooth pickup and cruising....till the next stop. Thinking back, I can only relate this symptom to one thing I did wrongly. 2 weeks ago, the engine was idling quietly when I absent-mindedly cranked the engine. There was that all familiar sandy-rasping sound, but nothing happened at that point. Anyone can advice what could have gone wrong?

Recently, after my 20,000 servicing, I felt vibration when travelling above 105km/h. I learnt from reading this forum and from tyre shops it could be due to balancing. True enough , re-balancing the front tyres solved the problem. But when at the tyre shop, the staff pointed to me that the rear Right tyre has uneven wear. Again learnt from this forum, it could be due to wheel alignment. Got the alignment of the front wheel corrected, which I suspected caused the uneven tyre wear before it was moved to the rear. Rear Left ---------------------------------- > Rear Right Question : My tyres are 24,000km old. Is it safe to to continue at least till 30,000km then change or should I change it now ?

Just for refreshment. Saw this poster ad online and initially thought is was the back fire of the exhaust. I look closer and noticed that it was spark coming from the back of the car due to the uneven tarmac causing the rear diffuser to scrap the tarmac. What a way to advertise haha!

Just now i just discovered 2 weird things abt my latio sedan (CVT) 1) for my side mirrors, whenever i close/open it using the switch, i find that the side mirror at my passenger's side tends to open/close faster than my side (driver) leh... I tot both mirrors should close/open at the same rate one ? (i never notice this unevenness till tonight - so no noe whether is it a common thing or problem with my mirrors) 2) whenever i turn my ignition switch till the 2nd stage (got eletricity but the engine not crank yet), there will be a series of clicking sound (lasted for 5 sec). BUt when i cranked up the engine, the sound will disappear. What is that series of clicking sound?? some timer or some initial start sequences? (last time i also never notice this leh.. so dont know if it a problem or a common thing) Any one has encounter these before??

Front using disc brakes and drum at the back and it is an old suzuki swift and has been driving it for 2 weeks and the sound came after 3 days of driving. hi all, i wonder did u guys encounter the same problem, i've observed uneven wear at my front (left hand side) tyre even after i have done computer alignment, i wonder is it anything to do with the suspension or mechanics of the getz's front (left hand side) hence the uneven wear ? i observed the rest of the tyres look alright for the tyre wear but the front (left hand side) has much faster tyre wear

This is my brake disc on my 1mth old 2500km car. I would supposed that by now, the disc would have been evenly worn and showing a very shiny surface. But take a look at this: 1) Large patch seems untouched 2) The material on the disc seems very "porous" with many "holes" However, I don't feel any shuttering or lost of effectiveness of the brake system. Any advise ?

http://www.physorg.com/news11095.html This is the same reason why the swimmers use that "sharkskin" full suit and golf balls got all these dimples on them. Sure is going to be hard to detail a car full of dimples...... WAIT A MINUTE! I will now encourage anybody to open your car door really hard and make dings on my car doors. More the merrier!
