My car has been acting funny the past 2 days. On uphill stretch of the expressway, the car will suddenly lose power momentarily a few times. Downhill is ok. Today went test drive with a mechanic, and the car stalled completely. Closer inspection shows a broken ignition coil (there was a crack on the coil cover). The car was towed back to the workshop.
Now the workshop tells me that beside having to replace the ignition coil, I should also change the 4 spark plug cables. Can anybody advise me if the spark plug cables should also be changed? Total cost comes close to $600 include ignition coil, cables, spark plugs. I know it is expensive but no choice, the car won't start without replacing the ignition coil.
