Hi all not sure if anyone has any experience in this. 1. i found through a relative's acquaintance and am ready to buy over a used 370Z in full cash. 2. Seller still have outstanding loan of about 35k with a bank and is unable to clear the loan before he sell the car. 2a. He request that i clear the loan for him first, i can pay direct to the bank with purchase agreement signed by both parties. hes ok for me to withold his balance payment until the transfer is complete. 2b. He is ok to start the process to transfer on LTA end, but it wont go through unless the bank also effect the release to LTA, bank says will take about 1-2 days upon full payment. 2c. relative is not sure/ cant grantee this person's character. Some risky scenario here; 1. He may run road after i clear the loan for him 2. Not sure how man in blue view such private agreement 3. i am ok to to seek my own legal recourse if thing go south, but the fees may not be worthwhile for this deal i have called one of the site sponsors here, wasnt very helpful, she mentioned they are jus "facilitator", in short my interest wont be protected. Previously when i buy used cars i will jus buy ask for transfer on the spot, also will verify the shop indeed owns the car and not thru some 3rd party. i am not desperate for this car as this wont be my primary car but i do have some personal sentiments to this model and this model is very few in the market now, its hard to find one with good condition n known background. i been searching for sometime. Will you proceed ?

Folks, your advice will be appreciated.. I am selling my car to a private buyer. He actually engaged a friend (dealer) to help him to arrange the finances and ownership transfer arrangement. The dealer actually asked me for my vehicle transaction pin because he mentioned that this pin is required for the bank to process my settlement and to facilitate the buyer's bank loan process. Well, I understand that the pin is necessary for ownership transfer, but do the banks need the pin to process seller's loan settlement and buyer's loan arrangements? I would thought that the pin is only required during actual transfer of ownership at LTA. I really don;t feel secured sharing my pin at this stage. Bros/sises, any experience with this matter? Thanks.

Hi guys, Just want to clear some doubts in my mind, I recently sold my previous car to a buyer at the end of 2016 via a 3rd party. (basically carro, one of those new companies that facilitate the whole process between buyer and seller.) it went smoothly. However, i provided a transaction pin when doing the sale and have a few questions as i'm just a little paranoid. Hope some of the sempais here can enlighten me. - Is the transaction PIN specific to only 1 vehicle and 1 transaction? - If unused, can the transfer pin created be used for a future asset that it was not intended for. (for example, is the a risk of the middle man moving any new assets under my acc?) i just want to be sure that this isn't possible. - Since the transfer is already done for my sold vehicle since dec last year, can i assume that the transfer pin is already used and cannot be used for any transaction in future? Thanks for any help or advise in advance.

i'll be making quite a number of US$ transactions... any suggestion which credit card is good for this purpose? not into the points but to be practical, the exchange rate?eg. uob, amex, standard chartered, dbs, maybank...?

Read from LTA website that when I need to sell my car, I will need a transaction PIN to complete the transfer. Anyone knows how long will the transaction PIN be valid for?

if you make a transaction online for overseas purchase, which/where do you get the conversion rate from? Bank or card association?

Is there a way to transfer money from Bank A to Bank B without issusing a cheque (cos cheque needs at least 1 day to clear) or physically withdrawing cash from Bank A and deposite to Bank B? i need to make the transfer within the same day. what are the possible ways? thanks.
