Hi ppl, Hope it's alright to post some questions on Home Theatre System instead of Car theatre System? Recently, I'm quite amazed at how a good audio system can make you feel as if you were in it (ie, in a concert or in a movie itself). For some of the supposedly good audio systems, all the audio reproduction are so realistic....and it just makes me want to buy them , but there's too many choices to make and budget/space constraints..... So, I would like to seek some advise from MCF members or people who knows about such Home Theatre System. For a start, it's for my new 5 room flat. The TV area is a bit small, so I'm only looking at satellite systems. And I have already run 2 thick (but not sure if good) audio cables (silver/copper) from the front thru the top false ceiling to the rear. When I went to Courts, Harvey Norman or Best Denki, I think the best satellite speakers they offer is the 3in1 (DVD, receiver, Amp) JBL system (forgot exact model no.) for $1399. I know that buying separate machines for specific purpose may be better (ie 1 yamaha amp, + 1 panasonic DVD player). Unfortunately, this is where my budget constraint comes in. For those separate components, it's very much more expensive. Furthermore, I may also run into "Combination problems" as mentioned in other earlier recent threads. During the DEMO, I've tried many other audio system. (ie pioneer, panasonic, and jbl of course). With the same DVD or CD, it seems that JBL is obviously the better one. Although the price is $300 more, but it seems like a good buy. But the down side to it is that, for this JBL satellite speakers, it comes with their own proprietary cables which I don't really like. Coz 1) The JBL cable is quite long, (maybe 15-20m? for each rear speaker). But what if it's not enough? Then I need to cut, and join with other cables which I don't think is a good idea. 2) I've already run in a thick audio cable into my false ceiling and not using it seems to be a waste. (but I can use it to pull in the JBL cable by taping the JBL cable to my exisiting cable on 1 end and pull through). Infact, only this JBL satellite speakers comes with a proprietary cable. Other brands or other models of JBL seems to be using normal speaker cables. Any comments on this model if it's good or what should be the ideal way for me to do the cabling. Thanks kianbeng
