Hi all, as I'm going to take ferry to desaru for a holiday, I'm thinking whether to park my car at the changi ferry terminal (not tanah merah ferry terminal). I'm concerned about the safety aspects. Anyone has experience of parking there? I'm thinking, if I don't drive, would I have difficulty getting a cab when I return to sg? Thanks in advance to any advice!

Hi all, is anyone familiar with the changi ferry terminal? I need to book tickets to desaru but there's not much info on it online. Any website for booking or tel number to call? I read somewhere that parking at e terminal is free for travellers. Anyone parked car there during your trip before? I wonder whether it is safe! Tks in advance for any advice

Does anyone knows what is going to happen to pasir panjang port? During the last national day rally, PM said all ports will move to Tuas by 2030. Does it include pasir panjang? It doesn't make sense, they are reclaiming the land at PP to develop into a bigger port. Then in less than 20 years, they all shift to Tuas?

A tour coach driver who drove his bus onto a pedestrian walkway outside Changi Airport's Terminal 3 on Tuesday has been arrested for drink driving. A police spokesman said that the 48-year-old Singaporean driver had mounted a pedestrian curb outside the departure hall at around 7am. The bus, which had no passengers on board, did not hit anyone. Eyewitness Chia Xi Zhen, a 46-year-old housewife who had just returned from a family vacation in Australia, said: 'We were just about to leave the airport terminal when we saw the bus driving very near the curb. I think this is an example of poor planning and waste of resources and tax money. SINGAPORE: Airlines operating from Singapore's Budget Terminal will soon operate from the main terminals at Changi Airport. That's because the Budget Terminal will be closed later this year to make way for a new and improved terminal. Travelling the no-frills way has become more popular. Last year, one in four passengers at Changi Airport travelled on a low-cost carrier (LCC), compared to about one in five in 2010. In fact, low-cost carriers accounted for 28.6 percent of all flights at Changi Airport. And the outlook is bright. Mr Shukor Yusof, Aviation Analyst at Standard & Poor's, said: "Our understanding is that there are moves to review the operations at the Budget Terminal because of the increasing traffic, because of the expectation that there will be more and more budget airlines that will ply into Singapore. "I think there is no chronic shortage of facilities or any acute problems that we are having at the LCCT (low-cost carrier terminal). The numbers are increasing so fast that I think in the next few years, issues concerning the comfort of passengers, the issue of more aircraft, if you look at the budget airlines in the region, everyone is buying new aircraft, every single one of them are expanding. So within the next three to four to five years, you will have more aircraft, more passengers. "Indeed, more passengers are flying to Singapore by budget airline, so what we have today in Changi in terms of the Budget Terminal, is good for now. But within the next few years, it would struggle to cope with the numbers." Opened in 2006, the Budget Terminal can handle up to seven million passengers annually. And sources say the authorities are now looking at building a new terminal to cater to future demand. Many workers at the Budget Terminal are aware of the impending closure. Shop owners have also been informed and some say it's no surprise, as the lease for most concessions there will expire in a few months. The Budget Terminal currently serves Berjaya Air, Firefly, SEair, Cebu Pacific and Tiger Airways. MediaCorp understands the decision to move the carriers to the main terminals was reached a few weeks ago. It is understood that Tiger Airways will operate from Terminal 2, possibly by June. Provisions have been made for them to operate from Row 12 near to Singapore Airlines, Silk Air and the new Scoot airline. Berjaya Air and SEAir will also operate from Terminal 2, with Berjaya making the shift as early as April. When contacted, Firefly says it is aware of the move, but declined to give details. Analysts say the expected change should benefit carriers and passengers. Mr Shukor said: "I think it is going to be quite good for these carriers because that would mean seamless connectivity for passengers who want to hop onto another carrier at Terminal 2. "In terms of people who are flying from Australia onwards to Europe, for example, instead of being transported from the LCCT to Terminal 2, they can just walk a short distance and go onto the next flight and that's clearly an advantage for Tiger." Observers say when the budget carriers begin operations from the main terminals, they could be faced with higher costs. But it is understood that authorities are working on a special arrangement with the airlines to help them address the issue. Changes have also been made to aero-bridges at Terminal 2 to accommodate the additional flights. Observers say it should not take more than two years for the new terminal to be ready. - CNA/de

i always parked my car at the T1,T2,T3 for a few days if go for short trip. Lucky, never have a chance to park at Budget Terminal. Very heng. more expensive than MBS ============================ User-unfriendly manipulation of parking fees at Budget Terminal Published on Jan 30, 2012 I HAD to take a round-trip flight to Kuala Lumpur early this month. I departed on a Friday at noon and returned the next day in the evening. As it was a short trip, I decided to drive and park at the Budget Terminal's open-air carpark. Having checked in online, I arrived at the carpark an hour before the flight and was shocked to see a small notice on the carpark barriers, indicating overnight charges in excess of $50 and a recommendation to use the Terminal 2 carpark, which would cost only $20. As I was not sure I had enough time to drive to Terminal 2, park there and find a shuttle or taxi service back to the Budget Terminal to catch my flight, I decided to stay put and parked at the Budget Terminal carpark. When I returned, I was charged an appalling $82.40 for 34 hours; in fact, the parking fee was costlier than the air tickets. Why does an open-air carpark at the Budget Terminal cost more than a covered parking space in Terminal 2's multi-storey carpark? Why aren't airport users alerted to the stark difference much earlier and in a better way instead of as a last-minute warning at the carpark barriers? Why is there no advice about how long it takes to get to and from Terminal 2 and the frequency of shuttle buses? The airport's feedback service replied that with the increased overnight charges, there are more spaces for short-term parking. But this is achieved at a cost - the inconvenience of passengers who have to park at a different terminal. The airport authorities should charge similar rates at all terminals and, at the same time, put up LED panels indicating the availability of parking spaces at all terminals along the approach road to the airport. This will allow motorists to decide early and park where spaces are available. The current clumsy manipulation of parking rates suggests that the authorities underestimated the popularity of budget travel. Ron Graham ============================== $300 fee 'Parking overnight at the Budget Terminal is shockingly more expensive.' MS AMANDA GOH: 'I had an experience similar to Mr Ron Graham's at the Budget Terminal carpark ('User-unfriendly manipulation of parking fees at Budget Terminal'; Monday). Late last year, I took a last-minute trip on a flight departing from the Budget Terminal. As I was rushing to the terminal to purchase the plane tickets and board the aircraft, I parked at the Budget Terminal carpark. In my haste, I missed the small sign stating the parking rates. When I returned, I was shocked by the $300 charge for parking for 41/2 days. The carpark staff pointed to the notices about the fees on the entry barriers and in a few other places. But these are at inconspicuous spots. More can be done to inform the public that parking overnight at the Budget Terminal is not only different from parking at the other terminals, but also shockingly more expensive.' =================================== Address airport parking fee anomaly Published on Feb 1, 2012 MY HUSBAND and I had an experience similar to Mr Ron Graham's last week ('User-unfriendly manipulation of parking fees at Budget Terminal'; Monday). How can outdoor parking at a budget terminal be more expensive than at the other terminals? I hope the airport authorities will make a change. Amanda Chan (Ms) ===================================== Higher airport parking fees help to ease crunch CHANGI Airport's Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are well connected by the Skytrain system, with a train arriving at stations every two to three minutes ('User-unfriendly manipulation of parking fees at Budget Terminal' by Mr Ron Graham; Monday). Mr Graham criticised the exorbitant parking charges at the Budget Terminal carpark. No motorist wants to pay hefty parking charges, but an operator must find a solution when faced with overcrowding. In this case, the airport decided that increasing the overnight parking charges could help ease the situation, and installed signage on the change. Mr Graham asked why airport users were not alerted to the difference in parking charges. Apart from having signs at the carpark entrances, how else can this be done without incurring excessive cost? The management of Changi Airport is excellent in many ways, which is why the airport has won many awards. Sam Yeow

Everytime I come across handheld polishers, I would have the urge to grab one. But the reality is that there is no place that I can park my car with a power socket. It would have been perfect to have a Pay As You Use (PAYU) socket at the washing bay for us to wash and polish our cars. Does anyone knows of a public accessible area that we can wash and polish our own cars?

I'm trying to DIY (a) engine grounding, (b) ICE (amp & DSP), and © carputer. The part I need help is the battery terminal clamps. Typically, you've those branded ones that take in (biggest) 1x4AWG in SGP, or from overseas, 1x0AWG,1x4AWG,2x8AWG (tsunami, raptor, stinger, etc). I find it slightly limiting. What is the smart thing to do here? (I've found a local source for XLPE single-core cables all the way up to 0AWG and beyond, for little $$ compared to 4AWG cables purposed for car use when it is using PVC!!) Or should I go the low-cost route? After all, it's just a block of copper or brass. Which shop will have a good selection of clamps like this? Can clamp one piece of any-size cable. http://www.86fdj.com/en/pshowo.asp?db=image&id=5001&field=img

When I top up battery water today, found some white powder/chemical sticking on the battery positive cable terminal, is it normal? or the battery will be flat soon? My battery is 19 month old, and voltage output is 14.2V / 12.4 V when engine is turned on the off respectively.

Hullo everyone! I know this is a car forum but can some kind soul out there tell me whether is it possible to get to the Budget Terminal using MRT? There is a sky train that links T1 and T2 but I don't think there is a link to BT correct? Does that mean that I got to walk from the MRT station? I don't mind walking if it not too far but in view of the wet weather lately, is it like a sheltered walkway or must brave the elements type?
