  1. TLDR: Powertrains: US carries over the 1.8l with 139hp now, 2.0l dynamic force with 169hp available like the hatch. US hybrid variant TBA, Europe/China gets the 1.8l hybrid found in the Prius, carries over the 132hp 1.6l with improvements. No word on the 2.0l higher output hybrid variant. USA gets 6spd rev-matching manual or dynamic force CVT with launch gear like the hatch . Chassis: Also TNGA like the hatch, shares same extended 2700m wheelbase as outgoing sedan and current wagon aka Touring in Europe. Tech: Apple Carplay and Amazon Alexa available, no word on Android Auto yet. Toyota Safety Sense 2.0. Some China variants get rear air-conditioning, TBA for other markets. Sport/Prestige: See videos below. China has both, EU Prestige only, TBA other markets. The Sport will likely be the base look in USA, with XSE taking a more aggressive look (see imgur link below). SG Predictions: Unclear whether SG will get Sport or Prestige. I'm guessing Prestige as we got the same sedan look as Europe last gen. We should likely get the current 1.6l or the improved EU one. Not sure if 1.2 turbo or 1.8/2.0 hybrid will appear here. Not sure also if Toyota will bring in the hatch or just the sedan. Given Thailand took a full year to launch the SEA market Camry, I expect PIs to bring the sedan before Borneo does, like the Camry (I learnt my lesson with my Camry post, so now I've titled it 2019/2020. Fingers crossed for the rear aircon too. 2. This thread is set up for discussions on anything technical, features or functions for the 2023 Corolla Cross Hybrid 2.0 It is not for the discussion on the price or cost related issues, comparison with other makes/models and similar irrelevances.
  3. https://electricvehicleweb.in/toyota-corolla-cross-preliminary-details/amp/ https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news/toyota-corolla-cross-2021-rendered-new-mini-rav4-hybrid-coming-to-lure-you-out-of-a-kia Baby RAV4? Looks like Toyota will be releasing a new CUV in thailand and I think likely to come to sg. But really, too many CUVs on the road and no characteristics. This model likely to take over the CHR to be the next popular phv vehicle.
  4. Will it see the daylight on our sunny island soon? I seriously doubt so given the unreasonably high cat A COE premium. The new Vios was launched on 9 August 2022 in Thailand as the Yaris Ativ. It is developed by Daihatsu through a joint Toyota-Daihatsu internal company known as Emerging Market Compact Car Company (EMCC) under the lead of executive chief engineer Hideyuki Kamino. It is based on the DNGA-B platform shared with the Raize and the W100 series Avanza. The model is introduced with a 70 mm longer wheelbase at 2,620 mm (103.1 in). Compared to its predecessor, the car features a fastback-like sloping rear roof section which stretched the window line further back. Following the foot steps of Mitsubishi Attrage, it will be equipped with the 3NR-VE 1.2-litre engine with Dual VVT-iE technology producing 93 horsepower / 110 Nm torque, and paired with a Toyota-made CVT gearbox marketed as Super CVT-i. No words if it will be followed by the regular 1.5L engine.
  5. Just sharing since Toyota is highly likely to release this in 2024, but whether it's PI or AD, remains to be seen.. The final name could be FJ or something else https://www.drive.com.au/news/details-leak-of-miniature-toyota-landcruiser-fj-a-suzuki-jimny-xl-rival/ "This suggests that the LandCruiser FJ will use the same Toyota iMV ladder-frame underpinnings as the Champ, albeit with a four-wheel-drive transfer case as opposed to the Champ’s rear-drive platform. With a wheelbase of between 2745mm and 2750mm (depending on application) the Toyota platform is longer than the new five-door Suzuki Jimny XL at 2590mm." This could very well be my next car.. Always wanted a SUV and something reliable but fun for my next one, that can carry people and has a higher hip point and is still funky, whilst being well built. Can't wait
  6. I am thinking of changing my ride soon and I am contemplating between Camry 'G' and Mark X. On one hand, I want a sporty ride like the Mark X but being a family man, I need ample boot space to store 2 prams and a weekend's worth of NTUC shopping bags. I heard that Mark X has limited boot space. Is this true? Any family drivers here with Mark X?? Hope to hear opinions from bros here ... thanks.

    Harrier 2017

i went to test drive on sat, sharing my views below Likes - exterior design - size of car, notable presence on the road - sound proofing - boot size is huge - space for rear seat passengers is huge - front sequential turn signals looks cool; would really loveit if they used sequential for back and side signals as well - sunroof Dislikes - touchscreen on dashboard is pathetically small. those in japan seem much bigger ( )- from the boot, there is no lever/button for making the rear seats lie flat - no safety options: blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic monitoring, tyre deflation monitoring - they removed the panoramic view monitor, which i think is available in the japanese brochures - lag before turbo engine kicks in Some excellent reviews here from Richard too: http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2705478-harrier-2017/page-7?do=findComment&comment=6159941

  10. The standard naturally aspirated 2.5-liter engine is dead; long live the 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid. The 2026 RAV4 packs a hybrid powertrain with Toyota's fifth-generation hybrid system equipped, which sees major improvements to the power control unit and battery for improved output and efficiency. The new RAV4 hybrid makes 226 horsepower when paired with standard front-wheel drive—the first for the model—or 236 horsepower with all-wheel drive. The FWD RAV has 23 more hp than the outgoing front-drive gas model, while the AWD version sees a 17-hp increase over the previous AWD hybrid. Toyota hasn’t released fuel economy figures yet. The GR Sport is Toyota’s first true performance-oriented RAV—although, it’s still not a full GR model. It’s powered by the PHEV powertrain and with AWD, making a properly powerful 320 horsepower, which means it should be even quicker to 60 miles per hour than the outgoing RAV4 Prime, which got there in 5.5 seconds. Visual cues like the larger front grille with the GR badge set the RAV4 GR Sport apart from the rest of the lineup (and it looks suspiciously similar to the GR Corolla’s updated grille), as do the special 20-inch wheels, rear roof spoiler, and interior, which is lined with suede and faux leather accents. The 2026 RAV4 goes heavy on screens with a standard 10.5-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Buyers can opt for a larger 12.9-inch touchscreen on certain models. Every version of the RAV runs a new generation of Toyota’s Audio Multimedia system that promises to be quicker and even more responsive, complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual Bluetooth compatibility, and for the first time, a static home button. The 2026 RAV is also the first Toyota with the brand’s Safety Sense 4.0 safety suite, which has all the same technology as the previous system—adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, etc—but with enhanced hardware and detection capabilities.

  13. Toyota C-HR+ Very exciting indeed Wow, wow https://autos.yahoo.com/toyota-c-hr-nameplate-resurrected-230100465.html https://mobile.guideautoweb.com/en/articles/77615/all-new-toyota-c-hr-is-a-stylish-little-ev-we-sure-would-like-to-have/ "The Toyota C-HR+ boasts a very attractive, even sporty design with a coupe-like roofline and rear door handles once again concealed in the door frame. Other highlights include an athletic stance, a black-finished roof, mirror caps and lower-body cladding, plus aggressive-looking headlights inspired by Toyota’s latest cars." "While relatively short at 4,520 mm, the C-HR+ has a long wheelbase of 2,750 mm, making for a spacious cabin with up to 900 mm between the front and rear seatbacks. Trunk space amounts to 416 litres according to European calculations. Under the panoramic roof, front-row occupants enjoy ambient lightning, dual wireless charging pads for smartphones and a standard 14-inch touchscreen with navigation. Nice! Buttons for the aircon and volume, and what looks like charging pads and a dial for controls. Promising Range and Power The Toyota C-HR+ is built on the Japanese automaker’s e-TNGA platform and offers two battery options (57.7 kWh and 77 kWh gross capacity) along with FWD and AWD variants. Based on the WLTP standard, maximum range is 600 km in the best-case scenario, Toyota claims, which for us would likely mean just over 500 km. In terms of power, the dual-motor C-HR+ generates 338 hp (exactly like the upgraded Toyota bZ4X also introduced today) and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds. The single-motor variant produces 165 hp or 221 hp depending on the battery. Photo: Toyota By the way, an 11kW on-board charger is included as standard, while higher-end models benefit from a 22kW charger. Fast charging at a DC charging station is possible up to 150 kW. Toyota engineers have also equipped the C-HR+ with a new battery preconditioning system and energy-saving heat pump to speed up the charging process, especially in cold weather. What else? Well, the suspension components have been specially tuned for this new model, in particular the performance of the springs and dampers, as well as the rigidity of the anti-roll bars. The electric power steering has also been recalibrated for greater responsiveness. The Toyota C-HR+ will be launched in select European markets by late 2025 and in the rest of Europe in 2026. Its availability in North America has yet to be confirmed, but we can easily imagine this small EV on Canadian roads as a more affordable companion to the bZ4X (remember, plans for a three-row electric SUV have been pushed back to the first half of 2026). We’ll keep you posted as soon as Toyota makes an official announcement."

  16. Would this come and sell well in Singapore? First Look: With the 2019 RAV4, Toyota gives its best-selling crossover a new rugged look http://www.nydailynews.com/autos/news/2019-toyota-rav4-preview-article-1.3900050 Considered the first-ever compact crossover, the Toyota RAV4 debuted in 1994. This brings up two thoughts: 1) that CUVs have been around much longer than the current sales craze indicates, and 2) how are there only four generations of RAV4 in 24 years? Well, the first-generation slogged through a 16-year cycle, but as consumer demands increased, vehicle life cycles decreased in retrospect. Which brings us to today’s world debut of the all-new 2019 RAV4. And the grandfather of the crossover segment is looking younger than ever: less cute ‘ute and more brute youth. Finally fashionable At first glance, the only indication that the new RAV4 is indeed a Toyota is its ever-familiar oval emblem. Outside of that, the crossover evokes brawn and strength—words that generally describe true body-on-frame trucks and SUVs rather than car-based, unibody crossovers. But the 2019 RAV4 is full of bold character lines, chiseled features, and a grille that looks just as annoyed to be sitting in traffic as you are. Even its fenders, which now feature squared-off black plastic cladding instead of body-colored metal look (and I can’t believe I’m saying this) appropriate and attractive. The new RAV4 will drop a trim (Platinum) but details for the full lineup are sparse. However, an XSE Hybrid model is all-new and with it comes standard two-tone exterior paint. A black roof is paired with shades of gray, white, silver, and a new blue to give the hybrid a distinctive exterior style but in an atypical hybrid way (i.e., not frumpy looking). Adventure grade models also receive the new double-color scheme but with a white roofline similar to smaller sibling CH-R. This is available only on black, blue, and a new of-the-land greenish hue called Lunar Rock. For 2019, with the Platinum trim gone, the Limited is left as the sole heir to RAV4 luxury. This top-of-the-line model is outfitted with 19-inch wheels and chrome accents to further distinguish its premium-ness. Tech and touchpoints Of course, the Limited receives more than just flashy alloys and shiny bits. Standard features include a power moonroof, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, a newly-designed 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a rearview mirror camera, which is a North American-first for Toyota. Similar to what is available on General Motors’ premium brands, Toyota’s Digital Display Rear Mirror looks and acts like a conventional rearview mirror but toggle a switch and it will also display a high-definition, wide-angle view of what’s behind the vehicle. The Limited doesn’t hoard all the fancy gear, though, as all 2019 RAV4 models will be equipped with Entune 3.0, which includes Verizon-powered Wi-Fi connectivity, Amazon Alexa compatibility, and Apple CarPlay integration. Available Entune upgrades include Plus for a larger 8-inch touchscreen and satellite radio or Premium, which adds navigation. Also available will be up to five USB ports, wireless device charging, and an all-new 11-speaker JBL sound system. Increased performance capabilities The 2019 RAV4 will be powered by two engines: a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder paired with an 8-speed automatic, and a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder second-generation Toyota Hybrid System II engine mated to a CVT. Horsepower and fuel economy figures are not yet available but the automaker says consumers can expect improved, even best-in-class, numbers with the new model. Driving dynamics are said to have improved as well, particularly with the XSE Hybrid, which Toyota claims is the best-handling of the RAV4 lineup. The new hybrid features a sport-tuned suspension along with improved shock absorbers and springs. There also are three all-wheel-drive systems for the 2019 RAV4. Entry-level models can be optioned with the carryover AWD system, hybrids are available with AWD-i, and a new-to-Toyota dynamic torque vectoring AWD, which will be standard on Limited gasoline models and Adventure grade RAV4s. Featuring a rear driveline disconnect, the new torque-vectoring AWD system can send 50 percent of the engine torque to the rear wheels as well as distribute it to the left or right to improve handling. Additionally, when equipped with AWD, Adventure models are outfitted with Multi-Terrain Select as standard. The new system offers four driver-selectable traction modes (snow, mud, sand, and rocks) that can be adjusted on the fly. But performance isn’t the only priority in the new RAV4. For 2019, the lineup will be equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, the automaker’s second generation of advanced safety and driver-assistance technologies. Standard on all vehicles, the technology package includes: pre-collision with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high beam as well as new-for-2019 lane tracing assist (enabled only with ACC) and road sign assist (identifies and alerts to upcoming signage). The 2019 Toyota RAV4 will go on sale at the end of this year while hybrid models will follow suit in early 2019. We expect final specs and pricing closer to its on-sale date, if not sooner. 20. The current Toyota Harrier may still be fairly new to the Malaysian market (unless you count the myriad of grey imports that existed before UMW Toyota Motor’s offering), but the truth is third-generation SUV has been around since 2013 and in need of a replacement. Well, it looks like the forth-gen model is coming soon, and a promotional video has just surfaced on social media. It shows a car that draws much of its profile a fair bit of inspiration from the outgoing model, but with a couple of touches of its own. The characteristic blanked-off upper grille and slim headlights remain, but the latter now sport new LED daytime running lights with dual branches, much like the latest Avalon sedan. The lower grille is also much larger, reaching towards the upper grille and only separated by a full-width chrome strip. Along the side, the shoulder line sweeps upwards between the strong front and rear haunches, while the D-pillars have been made slightly narrower. But it’s the rear that’s the biggest departure – the full-width tail lights have been reduced to slits which, together with what appears to be a reverse-rake tail, gives the car more than a hint of the Jaguar F-Pace0 about it. According to Japanese automotive portal Best Car, the new Harrier, set to make its debut on June 17, will ride on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) that underpins most of Toyota’s latest models – specifically the K variant (GA-K) that the Camry, RAV4 and aforementioned Avalon are also based on. It will reportedly be significantly larger than before, in part to accommodate an optional third row of seats. New features include an electrochromic sunroof that can be dimmed (eliminating the need for blinds) as well as a dash cam integrated in the rear-view mirror. As for powertrains, expect the Harrier to come with an M20A 2.0 litre direct-injected Dynamic Force engine that makes 172 PS and 203 Nm of torque in the RAV4. There will also likely be a hybrid model that pairs a 2.5 litre version of that engine to a pair of electric motors, delivering a total of 211 PS in the Camry Hybrid. The 8AR-FTS 2.0 litre turbo mill, introduced in the facelifted third-get model (which we get), will apparently be dropped. source: https://paultan.org/2020/04/07/2021-toyota-harrier-fourth-generation-model-leaked/
  21. <Toyota GR Corolla Teased with a Game of I Spy Toyota dropped a teaser on Instagram with tons of hidden clues about the upcoming hot hatch, which is expected to use a 268-hp three-cylinder engine. TOYOTA Toyota teased the upcoming GR Corolla hot hatch with an image shared on Instagram that featured hidden clues detailing the new model. The GR Corolla will be powered by the same turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine as the global GR Yaris. The GR Corolla is expected to debut sometime next year and go on sale as a 2022 model in the U.S. Ever since Toyota debuted the GR Yaris hot hatch and said that it wouldn't be sold in the United States, we've been itching for a version of one that we could buy here. After all, Toyota needs something to compete with the likes of the Honda Civic Type R, Volkswagen Golf R, and Hyundai Veloster N. Good thing Toyota isn't leaving us behind, because we're getting a GR Corolla soon. The company just dropped a teaser image on its Instagram account that give some hints of the new raucous hot hatch. WHAT WE EXPECT THE GR COROLLA TO LOOK LIKE. | ILLUSTRATION BY BEN SUMMERELL-YOUDE/FOX SYNDICATION | CAR AND DRIVER Naturally, the users over on the GR Corolla forum were quick to point out all the hints, which are scattered around an image of a standard Corolla's interior like a game of I Spy. GR stands for Gazoo Racing and is used on the Supra and the new GR86 sports car. The time indicated on the gauge cluster is G:16, which refers to the G16E-GTS turbocharged three-cylinder engine that's used in the GR Yaris. The 268-hp output of that powerful engine's Japanese version is found on the climate controls in the teaser image. European versions make 268 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, and the engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. That's not all. There's even a camouflaged GR Corolla hatchback in the background of the image (we tried to zoom in; you can't see much, sadly). There's a GR Four road in the navigation system, which refers to the advanced all-wheel-drive system that has Torsen limited-slip differentials in the front and the rear and an electronically controlled center differential. Look for more details on the new GR Corolla soon, as Toyota is sure to trickle out details about the new hot hatch before its reveal, likely next year, since it released almost all the details on the new Tundra pickup before its official debut.>
  22. Another EV to many of us, but it's the first in a series of zero emission battery electric vehicles (BEVs) from Toyota. And it will be on sales from mid of next year. Toyota fans rejoice! Toyota bZ4X Concept is the first model to feature Toyota's new bZ - beyond Zero - naming convention. By 2025, Toyota aims to introduce 15 battery electric vehicles, including 7 Toyota bZ models. The 'bZ' is an acronym for 'beyond Zero', reinforcing Toyota's commitment to not only achieving zero carbon emissions and carbon neutrality, but also going beyond to realise new benefits for the environment, for individuals and for society as a whole. The bZ4X Concept, a medium-size SUV with all-wheel drive, is integral to Toyota's transition from a pure car company to a business dedicated to delivering better mobility for all. It was developed by Toyota Motor Corporation in partnership with Subaru Corporation, drawing on the specific skills and experience of each company. Sales of the production version are expected to commence around the middle of 2022. Toyota bZ4X Concept will be available with a world-first combination of a steering yoke and a steer-by-wire system. This technology gives the driver greater control, removing interference from rough road surfaces and braking, thereby giving a more precise response in line with the vehicle's speed and steering angle. Steer-by-wire also dispenses with the traditional, circular steering wheel, replacing it with a uniquely shaped steering yoke which eliminates the need for the driver to move their hands around the wheel as they make a turn, adding to the car's fun-to-drive quality.
